I have always had a top load washer. When we move into our new home, I am going to buy the front load washer so that I can put a counter on top. I just love the look!

Front loading ftw. I also love my Ikea Algot mesh baskets, because they fit exactly below the front loading door. I just unload a drum of socks etc straight into the basket and leave it to dry.

You can still add a shelf with top loaders but you need to bring both the washer and dryer forward, shelf goes in the space. Or you add the shelf higher where you can still open the top.

Tip: if you are thinking about turning this into an Airbnb one day, do not buy King size beds, the washer you bought won't wash the king size duvet/quilt you need to wash between guests! Love the makeover!

Calvin 11 I have this washer and dryer and it washes King size bedding just fine. You just need to make sure you buy the appropriate capacity to your needs.

New subbie, here. Really like what you’ve done with your laundry room. I’m kicking myself right now, because I’ve never thought of putting a board across the washer and dryer. How stupid am I? We’re always losing hangers and clothes behind and next to them. Anyway, your laundry room is far from tiny. My laundry room used to house the furnace and water heater along with the washer and dryer. We moved the furnace and water heater into the garage and the room is still tiny. There’s no windows in it which makes it look even smaller. I’m lucky I have what I have. It could have been worse, they could have been in the garage and we have no access from the house to the garage. Would have had to gone outside in the cold rain with laundry. We will now be putting a board across the top of the washer and dryer. That will be a good start. Thanks for the great video!

Americans have it easy. Most builds are made of wood and drywall in Europe we use bricks and concrete so everything is so much more difficult to change or redesign.
