I turned 61 on June 13th of this year and asked my family for tap shoes for my birthday. I have wanted a pair of tap shoes and wanted to learn how to tap dance my entire life. I watched no less than 10 other time step tutorials and just couldn’t seem to put it together. Your video explains it better than all of the others I’ve watched! So glad to have found you! Of course it’s not perfect yet but I will keep trying! This 61 year old brain and my muscle memory are struggling a little but I will tap on until I get it!

I've watched a bunch of videos on the time step and was never able to replicate it; somewhat because I have torn meniscus and can't really hop/balance on one leg for long periods which is how other instructors typically teach it. But, flipping the sequence like you did really clicked for me! I can't believe that others aren't teaching this way. Good on you!!

I am so glad this helped you!! I struggled teaching this step for years. I always hated when it came time to teach it cause I hated how frustrated my students got with it. But when I started teaching it this way it just clicked better with them and now I love teaching it!! 🧡

I just started lessons-just for fun at my fitness club. As are the others in the class, i am an 'older adult.' Great instructor, but at times, I can't get what's in my head to coordinate with my feet, and I don't want to hold up the class. Last week she taught the single time step, and I wanted to practice before the next class. I found this video and used it when I practiced over the weekend. I really like how you broke it into parts, put some on the shelf, then added it back at the end. It really made it less confusing for me. I subscribed to your channel because you are talented and a great teacher.

Thank you so much! Being an older adult at advanced beginner level, this step was very hard for me because of the hop. However, once I got that down, the flap step before the stomp was extremely helpful! You are an a wonderful teacher and an amazing tap dancer!!

Somehow its just easier when u say step stomp instead of ball change. I guess bc the change takes weight where the stomp does not. Its like a glitch in the programming of our brain! Lol.
