I saw Jennifer playing with Jeff in April 1999 at Dallas Starplex when they were doing the WHO ELSE tour. Not sure if it was before or after they did that tour in Japan where the DVD was recorded. They played the entire Who Else list of songs in exact order and then threw in a few of his other staples like Blue Wind, Freeway Jam, and The Pump. I was completely gobsmacked.

I went to a show during the Italian tour that she's talking about in Lago Di Garda. Stage was set up and everything but for some reason they were a no-show 😮 Probably due to transportation issues: the only way to get there is on the train!

She's the only guitarist I've seen who can get anywhere near to Jeff Beck in technique. Should have been at the tribute, but I guess you can't have everything.

Beck as a player never really did anything for me but what i saw of Beck the person he was inspirational and i always admired him.

Jeff is an acquired taste. It takes some time to let your ears evolve to what he's doing. He's always been ahead the listener.

I recently re-watched their performance together on Letterman and it was incredible! Jeff was doing his dance techno guitar thing that was so hip at the time and Jennifer was doing some rad finger tapping in the main riff to emulate a chopped re-mixed industrial dance trip hop guitar track. You knew you were watching something really special. David Letterman did too because he had to ask Jeff who the other the female guitar player was. "Why that's Jennifer Batten!"

Jeff Beck was always willing to give female musicians a shot at the big leagues. Plenty of great female guitar players, drummers and bass players out there that can run circles around their male counterparts. Jeff Beck knew this and gave them the chance.
