They didn't care about their child. All they modeled was childish behaviour. When your horse gets more time and attention than YOUR CHILD - you're a negligent parent. As a negligent parent, they are now on trial for that negligence. AKA manslaughter.

She’s just a very emotionally immature Mom whom wasn’t meeting her son’s needs. She’s obviously very clueless to signs of mental health issues or could be mentally ill herself. As much as you all hate it, and sadly four lives were lost, it isn’t a crime. Being a clueless emotionally immature parent is not a crime. There are millions just like her out there and this happens everyday. We have a lack of mental health awareness issues and support in our country.

However after reviewing this case I do think the school should’ve done a bit more in terms of security by checking his bag and not allowing him to return to class. IMO it was a huge mistake for her to take the stand. Her lawyer asked far too many leading questions, the woman obviously lacks empathy for everyone but herself & to me she & her lawyer are highly manipulative. The way Crumbly looks & acts pathetic but then the way her eyes dart around in a calculating manner is very telling. The father is an extremely weak, unethical & pathetic person while the mother is cunning , selfish & controlling.. recipe for a highly messed up kid.

That you are lacking empathy....which is why you are unable to see this situation from a myriad of ways and not just in the linear fashion you just spat out. To be able to have empathy for the child is not to discount the ability to be devastated for the victims. It is not to excuse the actions. It is to look into the reasons why and the potential that it could have been prevented. That he may have suffered but in a different way to the suffering he inflicted. I'll repeat this as I'm sure you'll have some nonsense to spout....it is not providing that child with an excuse and a get out of jail free card. But to understand what caused the action and to be able to recognise where HE may have been failed. To quote a very wise person...you..."ugh!!!" It's draining when people are this ignorant.

Thank you for this comment. It's very refreshing to hear a parent teach their children gun safety and allow them to be familiar, and in a safe space with them. So many comments are against guns, period! I think it's perfectly normal. You asked a good question about why she had to hide the bullets? In my mind, I thought she was doing her part to keep the weapon and ammunition safe in separate places. I thought maybe the gun range had taught that? Your comment definitely has me thinking though, you might be right. Is that something gun safety teaches? I think I've heard of it before but really can't recall. I'm not too familiar with guns, but my son and I love to shoot his pellet rifles, and he wants to learn to shoot with his Opa. His Opa has open carry, gun safe, and insurance in the chance he has to fire to protect someone or himself. He takes courses regularly, and i wouldn't mind if my son learned from him at all. Even though I don't feel comfortable around guns - I do around his Opa, and believe people have a right to protect themselves and their loved ones.

@@mountainmama8932i think I have heard that also about storing the ammo and gun in different places. I understood that as a safety measure before this trial. So, not sure that tells me anything about the parents negligence. There may be other things that might but, this particular point isn't.

She wasnt mad her husband bought a 15yr old bought a gun , she was more mad that they had been so long it ate into her Christmas tree cutting time ???? Why are 15 yr olds even allowed in gun shop or at a shooting range and when he got caught looking at bullets in school she said " next time dont get caught " i mean pretty weird response , i have mixed feelings , I think she had a incaling about her son but just brushed it off and didn't want to think he had issues , like brushing of the seeing ghosts and things, saying that's just him messing around , maybe he had switched in his head from the normal joking around to him actually having issues and she never took it seriously because like she said they joked around alot . So im not excusing her reactions and responses to when the school contacted her because as a parent if the school ring you about this type of stuff you take notice and take prevention measures even if you think its just him messing . I cant wait to hear what the dads excuse was for biying him the gun in the first place there is no excuse or reasoning , no kid needs a gun no matter if it was just for a shooting range shoukdnt be legally allowed until 21 or 25 possibly. But shes not coming across very attentive maube some mothers just aren't as full on maternal and as hands on as others not everyone is thay way , once , and dads generally aren't so poor kid didnt have the maternal side he needed

I am having mixed feelings as well. I haven’t watched every video of the trial so don’t attack me. I feel like a lot of parents brush their kids problems off. From experience with myself and with my niece and nephew… we always get our “problems” brushed off and that we are acting dumb, it’s all in our heads blah blah… so I can see that totally happened here. From what I’ve seen so far is that the school failed to report this to law enforcement… here in my city… that would’ve been handled right away.

She ignored her son and even still refuses to say he needed help. She said she didn't even remember his texts when he was begging for her to text him back. Her response, "he was just messing with us. " Any good mother knows when their child is "off." If you care and pay attention you would know if something is going on. She had plenty of signs. She chose to not only ignore them but allowed him to have a gun. She also tried to force herself to cry when the four victims were mentioned. This woman is.cold and callous. No emotions.

It’s abdication of responsibility for a minor. She put the gun in his hands. She ignored his cries for help. And that’s the charge. Are you saying that all the facts that the prosecution will bring to light regarding the gross negligence are true for you? You’d ignore pleas for help from your child? You’d see graphic violence drawn on a piece of paper with bullets in hand and walk away from them claiming you had no time? Ok. Got it.

I worked in a school where if a student was exhibiting that type of behavior, example drawing pictures of killing someone, etc, it was mandatory that the student be taken off the premises and directly to a mental health facility. The parents were not asked to take their child. The child was removed by a staff member which was usually their counselor or a security guard. One of my students made a hollow fake gun in welding class and was expelled. Another said he was going to blow up the school, and was expelled. The administration did not play around.

I think the school should be taken to a civil suit - but I also think this parents should be taken in for manslaughter. She knew her son was mentally ill, she knew her son lost his only friend (her words), and (according to her son) the child asked her for psychological help because he explicitly stated he was hearing voices and seeing demons. Despite that - they didn’t get him help and instead purchased him a gun.

They worse than failed. They ignored his requests for psych help due to him reporting he heard voices and saw demons, and instead bought him a gun. She stated she knew he lost his one friend. Mom was so absorbed in her extramarital affairs, horses and drinking. Makes me wonder if she bought him a gun with the intent he take his own life. It just seems criminal. Plus the accusations of her and her husband being negligent toward their other child makes it more suspicious. Mom says she wouldn’t do anything different and says “I hope he would’ve just killed us.” I can’t help she meant “killer himself.”

It is just totally unbelievable to me that after... --knowing he was troubled --having just had a meeting about his note in school --finding out from husband that bullets and gun were gone that she had no wonderings or suspicions that he might be the shooter. She's worried she got hit by a shooter and she's worried that he might commit suicide, but she's not worried, doesnt even think it is possible that he was the shooter? That honestly seems impossible that this was her mindset.
