I used to dread going into work, sometimes days before I was due to go in

Ive made mistake at work today because of stress, and i almost got in trouble. Im still worried about it even though people were understanding and helpful with me after the situation. Im happy for this video, i want to learn from my mistake and from this, and i want to make sure i handle my stress effectively and healthily. I work in a place where we handle lots of food, dishes, cleaning, all of that stuff - so naturally we will all get stressed... So at least there is that.

Maybe you could do a video on overcoming the stresses of starting a new job. Im in my second week and I feel like I'm halfway to a heart attack every morning before work and sometimes during.

Lack of communication leads to miscommunication and stress and people acting irrationally. Communicate the things that were implicit or being assumed or they will grow into bigger problems.

I relate to this. The company I work for is chaotic, although it is a very big/famous company. We never actually discuss things with our supervisor or manager.

9:04 Email notifications were big for me. I solved that with filters. I filtered out everything that doesn't have to do with my job. I also gave my number to colleagues. They'll text me if there is a relatively urgent matter to deal with or they haven't received an email back from me. For me that massively reduced stress. 1) I know there isn't a critical email hiding my in inbox that I may have missed 2) I know no one is falling through the cracks 2b) It makes me seem significantly more responsive/open providing an "high priority" contact method without actually requiring more work from me (I only get texts 1-2 times a month)

When I wake up 5 days a week for work knowing I have to help the homeless mental health and substance abuse population another day I get sad and stressed. The real problem is I no longer want to do this type of work it's draining. I never wanted to do this type of work. Ughhhh

Committing to change is crucial; and it doesn't have to be big, it can be a baby step. What can you do to take control (and decrease your stress) today?

Fire all the useless managers who are pussies in a toxic department with zero disciplinary measures 12 years being mobbed, bullied, harasser. Defamation of character. best top worker for 38 years and miserable and jealousy. No boundaries at work. Hospital are turning into garbage due to managements. I will never quit. Never been suspended. Bullies should be put to jail saying i'm crazy i drink i'm a stalker all bs. My manager know who i am but does nothing to go after the bullies. Action speaks louder than nasty words. They removed disciplinary measures since the last 25 years. No body cares. The union, manager, HR and the police are all totally useless

Hi Jennifer! I love these videos. I’m a new graduate nurse starting on a pretty dysfunctional unit tomorrow… watching these to put me in the right mindset helps. Hope it’s not as bad as I fear!

I think the most stress is camming from people who can't keep calm by themselfs and are creating stress to others and of totally small things are making big deal. My father was always telling me :if no one gats hurt, no one is going to die or get sick, or it doesn'i mean you will need to close your company the situation has a relevant importance 😀 I think a lot of people are stressing others without particulary important reasons.

My stress comes from other people’s problems and feel that I have to help them and then people constantly talking at you and there I no actually dialog. And then loud sounds, but my loops ear plugs help for that. And of course som anxiety

The company I work for is passing some of my work to other individuals so they can learn and grow. I worry that there’ll be nothing for me to do eventually. I have had the conversation and I was told not to worry 🤷🏻♀️

I don't know your situation, but this happened to me a few months ago. I was terrified. I asked if I had done something wrong or performed under the standards they expected. They assured me nothing was wrong. What they didn't tell me (because they couldn't) was that they were getting ready to promote me and they wanted my task schedule cleared for the promoted work and new projects. Don't know your situation--but hang in there, it could be a good sign that they're preparing you for something bigger

Real life example. I'm at work, it's a headache at the store, all the problems associated with being picky. I start to pray and after a moment of peace, there are some nice people, but for a moment I experienced a headache and a pain in my side. A different way of thinking. You don't have to completely face the problems that are the result of the problems.

The thing I try to control is closing down my email for a couple hours while I actually do the work. When I open my inbox again and see the same email ‘fight’ still going on, it’s super discouraging-although I feel better not haven taken part in it, just seeing it feels icky.

thanks for the video! I find it really useful one thing though: not all types of exercise will decrease the cortisol levels in your body. If you go for a run an push yourself over the limit, your body will produce more cortisol and it will make your stress even worse. This being said, if you want to use sport as a means of reducing stress (and you should) then try low intensity (Z2, Z3 cardio). That can make wonders in regulating your stress levels. Even a walk in the park for 30 minutes would help signifficantly
