Too much serum and oil was used after the flat iron. The hair got heavy. All the oil wasnt needed after the press.

Definitely I agree with you. Not the usual finish I get but I was trying out the Shea moisture elixir for the first time, it really did weigh the hair down even though I used very little. I probably should have mentioned this in the video but didn’t want to come across as I’m bashing the brand, the spray is good but too oily for silk press.

I like the way you explained each step I’m 58 yrs old use to have long thick hair but when I was 7 the cosmetologist suggested to my mom to get perm 😕 so for over 20 yrs perms then I started getting my hair dyed but for the last 3 yrs I only get it washed and flat iron but now the top of my hair is balding and my hair is getting longer but sheds a lot 😭 Her hair is beautiful TYFS👍🏾🦋🌻

Use a temporary wash out dye like adore or crazy colour. There’s no ammonia/peroxide so it won’t stick to your hair for long.

Try a keratin blow out - cuts down styling time by 50% and targets frizz. My hair used to revert in 10 minutes. I had blow outs done professionally at £150 every 3 months. I now diy at home- lots cheaper.

@@rendallsofia1194 hi, I use Inoar, which is designed for afro hair. You need a clarifying shampoo to use at the beginning of the treatment - Inoar do one but sometimes I use dish soap! To maintain your hair you need to buy a sulfate free shampoo - I use Inoar or Lisse Design. You can use any conditioner but I love Pantene Gold Series moisture Boost. I used a silicone based serum before curling the hair but also at the end I tried out Shea moisture elixir as a finishing spray for the first time, I personally found the elixir weighed the hair down a little too much but it did make the hair really shiny.

I don't like blow dry but then again I put a mild relaxed every few months and I set with rollers. I go every week I have grays so I dye my own hair and then I go for a deep cinditioner every week. This look so beautiful though wish you were in NY.❤️

Yes everyone has their methods and Janay Mickles is an exceptional stylist. Have you seen other videos on my channel or on my Instagram ? The finish is never heavy because I don’t use heavy products however on this occasion I was trying out a new spray that’s marketed as silicone free, it’s a light oil and I sprayed the littlest amount, it definitely weighed the hair down a lot, but of course once it’s on it’s too late to take off. I nearly didn’t put the video up because of this but it’s all good 😊
