Never stop trying to hit those bass notes! It’s such a treat every time you accidentally find a strong fry or sub and scare yourself. I’m sure most of us mere mortals have done the same trying to sing along with Geoff 😂

Truely a hauntingly beautiful cover...I am in awe of how talented Geoff is. This cover has brought me to tears so many times. it hits so hard. Geoff brings such depth, sadness and a sort of resignation to this song. Great reaction.

Magical, exactly!! It made me hearken back to Till Then as well. Remember he said he was going for the sound of a grizzly bear singing a lullaby. This is it exactly that.

I never considered Geoff to be a human cello, but now you mention it, I hear it too, and will never be able to unhear his cello voice.

Glad you were able to do this reaction so quickly after the video came out - I've been hoping to see your reaction to this! For whatever reason, watching Geoff's hands playing the piano is just sooo relaxing to me. I wouldn't mind at all having him do a video where he plays the piano and one camera just stays on his hands the whole time. I think Geoff stayed away from subharmonics for this whole song - even as low as he got, I think it was all chest voice. And then that short move up into his upper register, to remind us of how large his range is, and immediately dropping back down into the depths for "With you" - just a marvelous arrangement all around!

Central Florida has it’s own southern sound accent wise. Geoff is certainly hitting those in this song. Just more ear magic 😊
@shirleykarr5607 ай бұрын
What I don't get is that the other guys in VoicePlay do not speak with the same accent. He's the one saying "hey, y'all" and "wicked thang", not them. Maybe it's because he started out in Virginia? Family moved to Florida when he was five or six.
@rhov-anion7 ай бұрын
@@shirleykarr560 As someone whose family moved from Arkansas to the West Coast, you grow up hearing your parents speak with a drawl and you'll pick up bits. I try to speak with a Western accent, but I drop in "y'all" a lot. when I talk to my friend from Louisiana, we both go "full Southern" as my husband puts it. He LOVES my southern accent and thinks it's sexy.

I’m not especially familiar with Geoff’s work, but I find myself very much enjoying this rendition. And what is so striking to me is how easy and comfortable it is for him to stay in that super low octave.
@hwyla44167 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reaction - loved your comments about the 'lightness' in his upper register. I only knew it sounded a bit ethereal to me. You told me why it did. This whole song/video leaves me feeling like I'm walking through fog - a haunting, mysterious, but also somewhat cozy and sheltered feel. I do like the different feeling between those highs and then the low, grumbly, but soft tones. Also, nice point about the cello sound.

Love your shocked but triumphant look on your face when you actually hit low bass notes. Our queen of facial expressions conquers again adding a lot of " stank ' face reaction. I will say the even in " stank " face mode you're still cute as a bug in a rug! Blessings!

Great, interesting - and funny as always. 🥰 For me, this cover is my favorite "Single Geoff" video (whereas "I see fire" is my favorite "Multi-Geoff video").😃The song in this "thunder coated with honey" version from Geoff makes me feel cozy and relaxed. I could listen to it the whole day (and just for the records, I'm a hetero male in his late 40ies 🙃😂).

This is my favorite Chris Isaak song. A beautiful arrangement and performance by Geoff. It's interesting that you mentioned his cover of Till Then. I have the same slight "issue" with that one and this one. I think they would be better if he raised the key by half an octave or so. I know he has that great bass voice, but I enjoy it more when it's not quite so low. Small quibble. I do really enjoy his harmonies - with himself. Very beautiful.

I can see why Geoff would be reluctant to do this song. It takes a lot of heartbreak and anger to make people feel the emotion of the song, and given his current relationship I somehow get the feeling he doesn't have enough of either to give the song his all.

I know this is 4 months old, but I have to say it: EVERYONE misinterprets the end of this song. "Nobody loves no one" is the equivalent of "Everyone loves someone". The double negatives cause so many people to think this line is pessimistic, but it's not. To the contrary, it's stating that everybody loves someone. Please pass this along.
@adamgibson7181Ай бұрын
Can you do the tenacious D version too? It's the one time jack black isn't messing around.

''nobody loves noone'' was the end or am i crazy. if thats the case Jennifer didnt hear it right and it wasnt sad but beautiful.
@williamroop4517 ай бұрын
I'm convinced that Geoff's super low notes are made by opening his vocal cords down to his ankles and slowly wiggling his big toe... Insanely deep. Most singers have chest and head voice... Geoff has ankle, stomach, chest, and head voices. "Nobody loves noone" Double negatives cancel out... That means Everyone loves everyone!!!
@help8help7 ай бұрын
If English was only spoken by people who think logically you’d be right. In the context of this song, which is a cover after all, it’s still saying nobody loves anyone. But Geoff seems like a truly decent human being. So maybe you’re right about him loving everyone, at least in general.
