To the people saying she should have used the lyrics and that that’s the only way to appreciate the performance.. wow.. Imagine feeling entitled to decide how other people experience music. This is a vocal analysis, and lyrics quite frankly don’t matter in this context. Just because *you* need them to feel it doesn’t mean that’s true for everyone else. Stop diminishing other people’s experiences just cause they don’t match yours. Acting that entitled seems stressful, so I hope y’all feel better soon.

I recommend to rewatch the song in a version with English subtitles and you will understand her choices of vocal registers at certain parts of the song. Also, everyone gets emotional from the combination of lyrics and performance.

Lara Fabian; one of the best female singer and performers ever. She lives every word of the song and makes you feel it. Perfect in multiple languages. Her live performances are master pieces; Adagio, Caruso, Broken Vow and many more. Can't wait for this reaction.
@sportschool35373 жыл бұрын
Actually in terms of pure on stage performance nobody has the whole package like Lara... she's the ultimate live performer... there has never been another singer that can produce the feelings of the lyrics so well with her whole being (body, face expression and voice) like Lara Fabian does... Celine Dion has the voice of Lara but doesn't even come close to her emotional investment in a song... also, most of today's stars focus too much on vocal gymnastics (insane and completely unnecessary vocal runs) and really fail when it comes to the meaning of the song they sing... let me give you a quick example... Christina Aguilera has probably the most insane voice I've ever heard in my life... but the only song she actually stops to just sing the song and deliver the meaning as it should be is "hurt"... and what a surprise... it's her most famous and loved song... People enjoy hearing insane vocal runs just to be impressed by them... but we don't listen to music to hear vocal runs... we do it to listen to someone deliver emotion to us... depending on the kind of song of course... not all songs should be like Lara's songs or we'd all have committed suicide by now... lol
@lmp92562 жыл бұрын
@@sportschool3537 Applause. I have no respect for vocal runs unless they are perfectly placed and used sparingly. Immediate exit from my audiition if you think that's a good idea.... and reasonably so since you have essentially told me you don't have a clue what you are supposed to be doing. See above for possibly the most complete and perfect example of what you are supposed to be doing X 10 billion. This performance is perfectly understated and utterly majestic. What a goddess.

It's possible that the words get in the way (to repeat a phrase.) This song does not need to be understood, or even heard. It NEEDS to penetrate your soul. Amazingly, there is a vid on the net of Lara doing this song two weeks ago in Bucharest, and she still has great movement on her fastball. (little baseball lingo)

Lara has been singing for many years and has many fans all over the world, except the USA where almost everything that is not American is considered garbage and is not just her case. Lara speaks fluent French, English, Italian, Spanish, Belgian, if I'm not mistaken she also speaks German and obviously has songs and sings in all these languages. She is also a composer, having enough pieces written by her. As for the relationship with Dimash, she was a model, an example for him but from my point of view, without minimizing his vocal qualities, if you compare the two with the world of cars. Dimash is a high-performance car but full of bling bling. Lara is a Rolls Royce.

I never heard of Lara Fabian before three or four years ago when late one night surfing KZbin - it has been my loss! In my opinion she is an Artist........ by that i mean she paints with her voice, her phrasing, and with a voice that never sounds brash or trill or forced - her tone is warm and always pitch-perfect ; on top of that she has the unique ability to allow her audience to experience the emotion of the song writer's intent. as for me3, i have no musical talent ( I wear earplugs in the shower in case I burst into song ) but Lara holds my hand and leads me into music netter than any other performer in my life. As to language....... I speak but ! and not well at that - when Lara sings she sings from her heart...........and my heart hears !

I hope you realise that that croak was intentional - just like audible breathing in the microphone, sometimes such 'flaws' can be added as a a stylistic choice. :) Also, did you watch the last 30 seconds of that video? The song itself ended where you stopped the video, but in the last part you can see how Lara recovers from her performance. That said, for more Lara Fabian I would recommend "Broken Vow". For something different, I would recommend Lord of the Lost - "My Better Me". Officially a lyric video, but you do see Chris Harms singing throughout.

history on the song : Je suis Malade by Serge Lama! A song inspired by his life As you can imagine, it all started with a heartbreak. In 1969, Serge Lama fell in love with Michèle Potier but their romance could not be revealed to the public. Indeed, the two lovers are married. Then, his beloved leaves to Morocco to follow his career. Serge is devastated. He has just lost the love of his life. During a dinner with his friend and composer Alice Dona, the singer confides his pain. He is not well, he has pain from the separation, he is sick. This rehearsal during the dinner of "Je suis malade" is going to give the inspiration to her friend once back at home. She composes in the night what she thinks is a hit. The next day she contacts Serge Lama. However, he is away on tour and will only be back in Paris in September. This does not matter to Alice Dona who will wait for his return. Indeed, she is convinced that the song will be a hit. Once back, Serge goes to her house to listen to the music. He is under the spell and without a word he writes the lyrics. A strong song about the despair of a man who no longer has the woman he loves at his side.

"Adagio" is wonderful too but my favourite duet of a time, "Requiem pour un fou" with Johnny Halliday, their performance in the rain, is just mandatory. Je suis malade (song) The real story of the song When the song was written, Lara Fabian was only 3 years old. Je suis malade is a song by Serge Lama, released in 1973 as a single and on the album Je suis malade. Written by Serge Lama on a music composed by Alice Dona, the song became the most emblematic title of the repertoire of Serge Lama who regularly takes it on stage 3. History The song Je suis malade was inspired by a real heartbreak of Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love was a certainty, but neither of them was free: he had married Daisy Brun, his press agent, in 1968, and she was married and had a son. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to regain their freedom, but Michèle hesitates and finally flees him and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put words on his pain without succeeding, until the day he confides in his friend Alice Dona: "this story hurts me, it makes me sick. Back home, at the piano, Alice Dona, composes in a few hours a melody [...], that very quickly, she makes the singer listen. It was a revelation and Serge Lama wrote almost the entire text in one go. He will say later "The 80% of the song I wrote in 20 minutes, it's almost a shame [...] it came out of my heart so much that I [...] immediately felt that this song had something that the others didn't have". However, nothing is done. His record company Philips does not believe in the song and to impose it Lama threatens to leave if he is refused to record it3. He wins his case and soon Je suis malade is released as a single. Unfortunately, the radio programmers prefer the B side, the lively and cheerful song Les P'tites Femmes de Pigalle which becomes a hit6. At every opportunity, however, Lama sings Je suis malade, on television, on stage [...], recognition will come, not (in this period), through him, but from a cover by Dalida very touched by the subject of the song and whose inspired and desperate interpretation will seduce the public. After that, Serge Lama's popularity was turned upside down and he definitely became a recognized and popular singer-songwriter4. Many years later, the artist confides: "An LP of Serge Lama at the time it was worth 4000-5000 albums [...] But after Les Ballons rougesNote 1 it is 1 million4." Recognition came for the creator of Je suis malade, in 1974, when one evening on the stage of the Olympia in Paris, Serge Lama completed the song by interpreting it without a microphone a cappella in front of an audience conquered by a triumph. Another happiness, the return of Michele, free and together, they give birth to a boy named Frederic in 1981 and marry ten years later8. Michèle died in 2016 at 71 years, victim of a stroke9. Her death gives the song another dimension, Lama who has not given up singing it on stage says: "Every night when this song comes, I know it is an obstacle that must be jumped [...], it usually takes me a minute to recover [...], this song deserves to be given everything". Words on behalf of the father Je suis malade is doubly autobiographical for the singer-songwriter who includes in this story of desperate love feelings from his childhood. The anger, the suffering that Serge Lama expresses with the verses "I am sick as when my mother went out in the evening, And that she left me alone with my despair" or "I am like an orphan in a dormitory". These words to the attention of his lover to whom he reproaches his decline, it is in fact to his mother that he addresses them, casting himself in the skin of his father, formerly a singer of operetta in search of success, who, pushed by his wife, gave up his career [...]. This father to whom Lama "lends his voice" when he claims: "You deprived me of all my songs, You emptied me of all my words, Yet I had talent before your skin. This period of his childhood, Lama has already evoked it in the song half sweet and half bitter Le temps de la rengaine (in 1968 it opens the album D'aventures en aventures): "[...] Mama dreamed that she had a real kitchen, While Daddy was barking at the Capucines, It was a nice time that this time [...], One day daddy sold margarine, So that mommy could sing in her kitchen, It was a hard time that time, I have tears in my eyes when I think of all that".
