Hi. I have a doubt about the next sentence: "Wer in glühndem Sichversenken Je der Weisheit Kern geahnt..." What function realize "geahnt"? Is the past participle of ahnen. If this is the perfect tense where is the auxilary verb? Well, I hope someone can helpe me. I'm new in german, and this is killing me.
@lotharhubner87903 жыл бұрын
Diese Verse sind in DICHTERISCHER Freiheit entstanden. Das ist kein gesprochenes Deutsch. Solche Sprachprobleme kann man erst auf einem höheren Sprachverständnislevel sinnvoll untersuchen.

I need the advanced video for past perfect. I’m doing sentences like “Nachdem hatte er gegessen, er hatte keinen hunger mehr.” Level 6? I don’t understand why we are putting some past tense verbs before the other verb at the end. Like one said “gemacht hast”?!
@lotharhubner87903 жыл бұрын
So sollte es geschrieben/gesprochen werden: " Nachdem er gegessen hatte, hatte er keinen Hunger mehr." Entscheidend ist auch hier der Kontext. Zum Beispiel würde man sagen können: "Danach hatte er gegessen und deshalb hatte er keinen Hunger mehr."
@rossitsalyamcheva69454 жыл бұрын

The part which interests me is that this tense isn't used the same in English. Can you say more about that? What have you done? I have eaten. But I made a mistake. I did overtime. The helping verb is gone. You could say I have made a mistake. But not I have done overtime. Well, that's rather different in connotation. Can you explain more? Thanks.
@morlewen72185 жыл бұрын
In High German dialects the Preterite mostly disappeared. In Upper German (Bavarian, Austrian and allemanic) all traces of Preterite are gone. There is only one form of past: the Perfect. Even the Pluquamperfect is replaced by Double Perfect. In spoken language of Southern Germany you will (almost) always find the Perfect. In the Low German language area the preterite is much more common. The elder generation over there is still using the Preterite and Perfect in the way English is using it. Not surprising since English has its roots in Low German. Young people ("corrupted by High German") are using the Preterite only in a few cases. In official texts (newspapers, reports, novels etc.) the Preterite is used to express the past. In casual texts you will find the Perfect Spoken laguage = Perfect Written language = Preterite

When does this happen?
@king_has_no_clothskul86352 жыл бұрын
following needless rules of german is the main reason it will impede your progress. And too much nonsense grammar. the best way to learn is through content and make them small. And on route check grammar. the germans are needlessly formal( they are formal for the sake of formal and I dont get it). But the imperatives and adds on paper tells you that all the rules can be broken( nouns are got ridden of articles in add. And it dont harm anybody). Actually if declenesion is right word order should not matter barring MAIN VERB at the second position! everything else is fair game and free style. so by trying to learn formally and hammered by the german rules you dont learn it at all. the online videos are not doing any justice in this regard as well. And dont spend time with grammar practice. you study the grammar and try to see while listening and hearing otherwise it become a bore fest. This is actually evident in real exams: GOETHE exam dont specifically sit and test on grammar. it is content, content and more content. The austrian exam gives you dictionary and you can refere taking out byhearting of everything german. if you go by standard rules german becomes a BYHEART SLUG FEST AND ON TOP OF ALL INFINITE GRAMMAR RULES AND CONJUGATION YOU WILL NEVER GET SPEED. ---------- SO CONTENT BASED LEARNING IS THE WAY TO GO. BREAK ALL THE GOD-DAMN RULES! THEN YOU CAN ABSORB A LOT AND KEEP SETTING THINGS RIGHT. JUST TRANSFORM IN YOUR LANGUAGE, GET THOSE MEANINGS AND BLURT OUT WHAT YOU WANNA SAY. ANOTHER SERIOUS PROBLEM EVERYBODY FACES IS LEARNING GERMAN HAS BECOME AN EXPENSIVE AFFAIR. GERMANS AUTOMATICALLY TALK IN ENGLISH WITH NON NATIVES AND IF YOU WANT TO MAKE THEM SPEAK GERMAN YOU HAVE TO PAY THEM. ANY CLASS IS JUST 45 MINUTES AND YOU NEED 500 TO 1000 HOURS OF SPEAKING AND NOW YOU SEE THE BILLS RUN UP. OTHER SOLUTION IS TO GO TO GERMAN AND LEARN. SO THAT IS COSTLY TOO. AND IN CITIES YOU WILL STILL FACE SAME ISSUES. ALL SUPPORT STAFF ARE GERMAN IMMIGRANTS AND THEY SPEAK BROKEN GERMAN AND SWITCH TO ENGLISH EVENTUALLY( LIKE ORDERING IN RESTAURANTS THAT AND THIS) you might have to go to NON COSMO CITIES where GERMAN SPEAK LESS ENGLISH. So it has become very expensive process! There is no easy solutions here. YOU CAN SPEND AS MUCH TIME BY YOURSELF. THIS IS BRUT OF A LANGUAGE TO MASTER BOTH BY CIRCUMSTANCES AND NATURE OF THE LANGUAGE ITSELF. BUT TAKE YOUR TIME: GERMAN MACHINERY, BEETHOVAN,BACH, MOZART( AUSTRIA?) KARL MARX AND FREDRICK COME FROM GERMAN. SO YOU GOT TO FIGHT YOUR WAY DEEP IN TO IT TO GET THE REAL DEAL. AND WHOLE FORCES OPPOSE YOU! ENGLISH POSSESS NONE OF THESE ISSUES THOUGH! you can RIP IT APART AND PUT IT TOGETHER. WONDER WHY THE BRITS BOSSED THE WHOLE WORLD? TRY TO GO DEEP YOU WILL LAND IN HOSPITAL. ENGLISH VOCABULARY HAS NO EQUALS!
