Think I'm gunna let it fade a little while longer before I do a bleach bath cause I wanna just leave it alone for a while when I go back blonde.

I’m a hairstylist. You did a great job for someone doing it at home. For those dark spots on your roots if you ever did want to get rid of that just go in with a 20 vol. just on the dark spots. Love seeing people doing bleach baths to remove colour then bleaching the hell out of it multiple times. Way safer! Also great call on coconut oil! I use it on my clients all the time. Also another good way to protect the hair when doing a full on bleach not a bleach bath .. but dampen the hair it’s helps saturate better and with the hair already being damp it really helps. Great video. Keep them coming ❤️

The nerd in me is screaming SCIENCE! lol... What makes coconut oil so amazingly awesome for bleach is its what's called a chelating agent. Basically, it finds all those nasty little bits of oxidation, which happens as a reaction between the bleach and trace metals and whatnot in your hair. Those trace metals literally rust! And that's why your hair gets so damaged and fried. Except Mr. Awesome coconut oil comes in and surrounds and neutralizes the oxidation (rust) and voila! Very little damage! I like to put it on the night before and let it truly penetrate (hehe... I said penetrate) all the way through, but at least 4 hours prior. Okay sorry for having to be a science nerd for a sec, but I love science! Great tutorial! Love the tats, your sleeve is awesome! Oh and Sally's now has a generic version of olaplex for like 5 bucks and it works just as well, I swear! So now I use that and coconut oil as a second defense!

Another thing that works very well when you're doing a bleach bath is to get done normally washing your hair put a deep conditioner in your hair and leave it in let that soak in your hair for a little bit and then put the bleach bath with the shampoo on top of your hair that already has the conditioner in it yes it does cut down on the strength of it but it does leave quite an even and nice result

There are a few reasons your roots are darker. one is because they are a lower level, meaning darker. Two the diluted bleach didn't lift them as much. And it lifted the purple because it's older and not virgin hair so the cuticle is more open so can be removed easier ❤️ I'm a cosmetologist lol and loved your video

Ooh coconut oil. I'll give that a try 2moro. The beach bath didn't get rid of my red. Now it's just a salmon color and the salmon is being stubborn. Did a deep condition after. Will be trying this ASAP. I still have some purple in my hair from about 8 months ago (my AF colors last a loonnnggg time because I use color depositing conditioner cuz I don’t like to bleach my hair more than twice a year) and it needs to go. Think I’ll be doing 20 vol instead of 30 because most of the color has faded and is now silvery-purple, but there are areas that are much darker underneath so I figured I would hit the darkest areas first, then pull through the lighter areas. I will be using your coconut oil tip, but I’ll also be adding Olaplex 1 to the actual bleach mixture. As for my roots, I’m going to leave them alone for now and get them with my regular bleaching process a few days later. I hope this turns out alright. Thanks so much!

@JenOfAllTrades5 жыл бұрын
You're gon a have to shampoo maybe even twice to get the oil out good. Then condition as normal but let it sit in your hair for like 3 min so help any dryness that you got from doing the bleach bath. And yes, I always air dry. Brushing or blow drying it when its wet causes breakage and damage. I personally prefer not to but thats up to you. I'm here if you need anything else!

Okay, probably a very stupid question, but does it matter if the coconut oil is the kind you get in the “health and beauty” section or the “cooking oil” section? I don’t see how it would make a difference, and it looks like the container you’re holding says “0g transfat” on it so I’m guessing it’s a coconut oil from the cooking oil aisle. I guess I can buy both, just to be safe.

@JenOfAllTrades6 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it would work but its the same as bleaching your hair pretty much. It can still cause a lot of unneeded damage. This bleach bath is a way to protect your hair and cause less damage while still getting the same results. Plus, the roots all get done at the same time! Haha
@gracelotz85256 жыл бұрын
Artificial color removers only remove oxidative dyes. Semi permanents work more like a stain and do not ise oxidation so unfortunately color oops or prevanas artificial color extractors wont pull that color out of your hair. Ion permanent colors also will not lift with those products becausr those also are not oxidative dyes.
@kellyhilstad83066 жыл бұрын
No because arctic fox is a direct dye it stains the hair.. color oops is for permanent oxidative haircolor... which is inside the cortex of the hair they are not the same .. for direct dyes, vitamin c or bleach bath or a permanent clear all are ways to help remove direct dyes.

Will this work on darker purple hair? I went too dark and I want to go with a pastel purple instead.
@JenOfAllTrades3 жыл бұрын
If you just want to go pastel, then fade the purple you have. Use clarifying or dandruff shampoo and wash more often than you normally would. It'll fade it to the pastel you want. This would make it blonde and take away the purple all together.

Can I do this after color oops? I currently have bright red hair that I want to get rid off and possibly go bright green but I do not want to damage my hair 😥

I would wait awhile in between. Color oops can be just as damaging as bleach.

Question. Do I need to leave the coconut oil on the hair and apply the bleach bath or do I need to rinse it out and then apply the bleach bath? I have messed up my hair colour as I have used different brands of purple so I want to re-do my whole hair before my wedding. Tia x

Did anyone answer? As I was wondering the same

Brad Mondo says... if your bleaching no amount of oils, or hair masks will help because the treatments just fill holes in the broken hair and the bleach has to work harder because it has to eat the oil away to get to the hair again. Not sure if this is accurate but Def makes sense to me. No criticism just sharing info I learned if it helps anyone.

My hair is damaged I'm scared... Should I still di bleach bath
@JenOfAllTrades4 жыл бұрын
If its damaged then avoid bleach. Try fading it first using clarifying or dandruff shampoo. I even use dish soap like a shampoo and that gets a lot of color out. You need to focus on healing your hair before trying anything harsh. Get a good hair mask with keratin protein. Then when you're ready try a color remover without bleach like "One n Only Colorfix" I actually have a whole video on that.

If I don't have coconut oil, would another kind of oil work?
@JenOfAllTrades6 жыл бұрын
Coconut oil is pretty inexpensive but if you can't get any, then olive oil can be substituted.

I just used soybean oil and it totally worked! Coated my hair, left it for a couple hours. Did a bleach bath on hair thats been colored with red Ion dye over and over for about a year, left it on for about 30 mins. Rewetted it a couple times (lightly) and it completely took out the red!! I don't feel any damage at all. Thank you for your video, it helped immensely!

Oh okay. Good to know that works as an alternative. So glad my video helped too! Thanks for watching it!
