Good to meet you today! Just catching up on videos. The building on the disused platform at Cromford is now a holiday cottage, we stayed there twice before moving up here.

Hi Jen, That "Oasis" building at Cromford Station was visited I believe, by Michael Portillo on his telivised Railway Journeys...

Now that a cliff-hanger to leave the video on! But a lovely video, have been to Belper once and thought it was a nice place. The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is a nice little railway. Travelled on the day the extension to Duffield opened

Welcome to my part of the world! Granted I'm a bit the other way out of Derby at Long Eaton, but I am often about on the Derwent Valley Line area, sometimes on the TrentBarton Sixes or Transpeak if I am going north of Matlock. Belper, has a fantastic chippy called George's (Got 2 branches near me too), that is a must. Matlock Bath is obviously the main place to be, with all the sights and sounds, Cable Car etc, as well as my fave chippy, The Promenade :) Great area.

Trains on this line looks a lot more optimistic, than few years ago. Single 153 unit was typical what You can expected there, sometimes 156 (2cars) or very rarely 158 (2 cars) In very busy times, they run 156+153 in 3 car set, and I never seen 4 car sets before 170's. So this is very positive :)

Shipley station's also on a triangular junction and has platforms on all three sides. Virginia Water used to be but the track has long since been lifted on the third side and I don't know whether it ever had platforms.

The supermarket at Belper used to be a Gateway and is built on the site of the original station buildings. The bus numbers, 6.1 to 6.4, refer to a core service up the A6 from Derby to Belper with different onward destinations

One of my favourite lines, that I happen to ride last week! This was unplanned, as we'd been in Bakewell for a pudding....and fish & chips...and an open top bus around the peaks, and we planned to get the 6.1 back to Derby......but the bus had broke down, so we caught a 172 (no decimal point!) to Matlock via some very steep hills and narrow roads, then caught the train instead!
@officialmcdeath7 ай бұрын
Don't remember if Dinting had platforms on the third side but no matter, thanks for doing justice to the Cromford Canal, one of the earliest canal restoration projects. Wonder if the TransPeak bus still runs \m/
@stephenmcculley77 ай бұрын
You can get the train from Manchester to Buxton, then the Transpeak bus from Buxton down to Bakewell, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Derby.

i haven't been to Cromford Station. I mainly know the northern half of Derbyshire Dales and haven't been south of Matlock recently. One place I do recommend going though is the Mellor design museum which is only a few minutes walk from Hathersage station.
