I was thinking "Wow... angling expertise on KZbin!"... but that, since you think well together (to the point of finishing each others' sentences well), it'd be nice to see one of you try a dry first before the other - if "necessary" - resorts to a dropper rig... but then that's exactly what you did... and were properly excited by that result, even though the second fish didn't jump like it was a dern salmon! Good stuff.

Dries sure are the preferred flies aren't they? When slow cruising or free rising browns take the dries as they did here it's amazing😊❤️🍻

Thank you! Wonderful to hear and to read the comments. It's just simply time for us to move forward in specifically what we love, what inspires & motivates us. It's been a bit of a journey. Moving forward these videos will be 60 to 90 minutes long and include some amazing footage and moments. This video, for example, is actually over 1 1/2 hrs and includes a short course on the impact of severe flooding on small streams that we've seen and experienced the past 40 years in various countries. That full production is at our Patreon channel, outlined at our www.jensenflyfishing.com website, and is a way for those interested in the full depth of what we do to enjoy that while supporting us. Thank you again! Dave & Amelia. :)

I don't understand why your channel doesn't have a much higher number of subscribers.. Your videos are top notch. People see the video, the great pictures and all that. But they don't all understand the work and equipment that such videos require, because only a genuine passion pushes you to the perfection that you two are looking for. I work as a photographer and painter. People see an indoor photo of and don't understand that behind that work ther's a €30,000 Sinar optical bench camera plus all the cinematic lighting fixtures... And even valid outdoor lenses costs a lot. These, for you, are also investments fore the future videos, so I think you deserve more subscribers and donations, above all for the passion you put into your videos and for the emotions they convey... I hope I'm not being offensive in your language, but here in Italy we would say that you are "a heritage to be safeguarded", that is, something that must be kept alive with the help and conscience of all, since it is a natural asset, in fact, in your videos, i also see a teaching towards respect and a greater understanding of nature... Or at least , that's how I see them. So, I'll see to support you on Patreon because you really deserve it! Talkin' bout fly fishing, I too often fish with the Orvis Helios 3f 9' wf5..It's a spectacular rod, I also have an 8' wf4 for lighter trouts.. Here in Italy, in the mountains to the south (Apennines), you can find smaller brown trouts, around 16-18 inches, also because the rivers do not exceed 50 km before arriving from the mountains to the sea, and often they suffer from summer droughts... instead in the northern mountains (Alps), you can find brown trouts up to 24-26 inches, like the one in my profile photo, and there, a wf5 stresses the fish less in my opinion... Then in the north, (more in the plains) we have lots of resurgences with pikes that are great fun to fly, and a wf5 helps to bring them up. (I specify that they are river pikes of about 25 inches, not lake pikes of more than a meter and a half!🤣🤣) Well, great work guys!!!! Respects from Bologna (Italy)

Another beautifully shot and produced video; thank you for creating and sharing this. I felt that the cast to the first fish caught on this video was truly exceptional, especially if I understood correctly that it was with a dry/dropper rig. The second fish required some excellent water craft and casting also - very impressive as were the fish.

@@jensenflyfishing Yes but only just up from the confluence that was a number of years ago now there were fish about, above that point it use to be quite clogged with algae and stagnate flow. If the floods over the last couple of years have scoured it out a bit and the flow meets the main stream in the right way i can't see why it wouldn't fish ok early season. Really looking forward to your new vids, hopefully these constant westerly's will relent soon and we can all get back to some great fishing. Take care and safe travels.

I love watching you guys, thank you for sharing with us! I did notice something though with your wife’s cast. She seems to drop her tip down at the end of her cast a bit much. It looks like she’s losing a lot of power she had generated. Could just be the camera angle though!
@jensenflyfishing Жыл бұрын
nope, you didn't miss it and aren't wrong. There's an inherent recoil creep forward that come out of a bit of a side arm rolling back cast - that's what you're seeing. We've been working on it for quite a few years (about 28 to be exact) but if you watch our videos closely it does have impact on micro slack tippet at times and it costs the odd fish hookset here & there. To Amelia's credit she has worked mostly through it but there are times it rears back up. Bad habits are hard to break (28 years and counting...)

@hikesteepfishhigh2 жыл бұрын
I notice a lot of people only sight cast for fish. why???
@jensenflyfishing2 жыл бұрын
The quick answer is because of the engagement and hunt, to hone in on that one special trout and be fully engaged in the moment and micro environment rather than just firing flies on the water in hopes of just catching anything. Sighting the one trout or honing in on that one riser pits you into its environment and challenges you to think through how to fool that fish. There's more to it but that's the gist of it 😊 That and on low population waters you'd simply spook the one fish per 400m while Prospecting

@jensenflyfishing2 жыл бұрын
100% hard no. Find the fish traditionally first then film

Do you ever think the drone will spook fish? or do you fly it in a way that won't, or maybe get the drone shots after you've hooked the fish?
@jensenflyfishing2 жыл бұрын
We only bring out the drone once we've found the fish by eye on the stream bank. This allows us to know what angle and what height above the water we think we can get away with in order to capture the moment. We've yet to spook an active fish with the drone and it's incredible what you can get away with, esp on rainbows under a riffled seam :)

“Don’t horse him this time babe”. This guy is such a rear end!! I feel sorry for this woman, it’s easy to see she’s scared to make a mistake while fishing because her husband will scold her. She would actually be more at ease and have way more fun fly fishing without this guy present!!! It’s hard for me to post this comment. They are excellent fly fishermen and they produce awesome videos but I’m done watching their videos because this guy is so judgmental of his wife in the videos. No matter if one is fly fishing in a tournament and or paying the bills from fly fishing, one should always try to have fun. It suppose to be fun and enjoyable. For this lady, that I feel for, she seems to have to walk on egg shells and not make mistakes while fishing or her husband will make mean remarks or comments. I will definitely miss watching their videos and learning from them. It would be nice to see this guy lighten up a little to his wife and realize that this is suppose to be a relaxing and enjoyable sport. Thank you….

If you watch them as much as I do, you know that is just how AJ talks to her self as she fights a fish. She is not scared of messing up, she does it all the time and just laughs. She gets intense, as we all do and talks to her self to calm down. A lot of the talking they do is about communicating how to set up the shot for video. I’ve seen AJ give Dave just has much direction when she is on the camera and he has the rod. I can assure you Amelia was having fun. ❤

I won't be dismissive of your comments because we all see and hear what we see and hear. That said a year ago you were here making the same negative projections and we're not sure why you've come back? Where the fine line defines is often where our projections are made. And the first rule of projection is to not ask nor seek clarification of a situation before making judgement in absolute projection - which is what you are doing here. If you ask, you'll notice that we're both highly engaged in each our roles on rod & camera. We are also both perfectionists in what we do and in order to be so successful we hone in on our roles in bringing together what we do on the water. And it takes ENDLESS TIME. In there we're both equally talking to ourselves and each other as we work through our day, highly communicative in what we see and hope for ourselves and each other. These videos, particularly the full versions of these videos on Patreon, welcome you into the experience of our years on the water together and what it takes to bring it all together. If you project a vibe into this entirety, if you project something without looking at the umbrella view of what's really happening in the situation and the helpfulness of constant communication of observations between us, that's not our issue, that's yours and your alone. Having Dave's incredible eyes and awareness on my side is something extremely few people have at their disposal in order to lead to the successes we've enjoyed the past 27 years together. I was sorry to read you didn't honor yourself nor us by first seeking clarification on this. Maybe you can improve that for yourself moving forward as to not project absolute negatives on others? All the best. Amelia
