With manufacturers starting to build their bikes around wireless components, it seems like wireless is going to be a focus for many companies in the near future. Do you prefer wireless or cable components? Do you currently own any wireless components?

I work in technology, so biking is my escape from the electronics that plague my daily life. A piece of me dies when I hear the electric actuator of my friend's shifter nonstop during a ride, like a pesky bug that won't leave you alone. For me, cable components all the way. I know the end is near, like the death of the 26er....but I'm going to hold on as long as I can.
@jensonusabicycles3 ай бұрын
@@ATHIP12 As long as there's a market for it, cables will be here to stay. Wireless technology is definitely creeping in, but with so many riders out there fighting to stay on tried and true technology, we think cables will still be in production for years to come.

If they were concerned with tire clearance, why would they have not just put the battery/mechanism to front of the post.
@jensonusabicycles3 ай бұрын
I reached out to Fox for a more in-depth explanation for the placement. Here's their response: "The short answer is, it was oriented that way because of aesthetics. The feeling was people might already be skeptical of the look of the controller and if we oriented it forward there were concerns that could exacerbate the issue. Since tire clearance at the rear is not an issue, that’s what we went with. Same reason Rock Shox put the Reverb battery at the rear, I'd imagine. It looks more sleek (even though in their case it does impact tire clearance)."

Maybe a litle bit overcomplicated. Fox recognised that there is a need for a transport and bikepark mode. They solved it with an App and many clicks in the app. Wouldn't be much more simple to put an physical on/off button on the seatpost? It would be a simple press insead of unlocking a phone with face id (ohh I need to take off my FF helmet, and goggles), or fingerprint (gloves), open the app, find the desired mod and activate it. Am I too analogue?
@jensonusabicycles3 ай бұрын
We don't think people would want to reach down to turn their post off entirely then have to manually turn it back on via a button on the post. Bike Park Mode makes it easier to turn "on" and "off" the post quickly without having to manually change anything outside of the setting for the app. The post comes with a "dummy" battery that slides into the battery port so if you wanted to turn it off completely and run it fully dropped the entire time, you can just drop the post, pull the battery, then put the dummy battery in to ride it that way for the day.
@sebgutkopf3 ай бұрын
@@jensonusabicycles You conviced me about the bikepark mode. 😉 But what about transportation. I own a Sram AXS T-type system and my only comolain is that I have to remove the battery and insert the dummy and remove dummy and replace with the battery every time I take my bike with the car and I have to make the same process back home. I see a similar process here. A dismounted battery is a great opportunity to leave it home accidentaly and have an unleasant surprice at the trailcenter. I am wondering whether product developers even ride a bike, or they ride only local starting always from home? These are just my toughts and non representative. Sorry about my niggling!
@jensonusabicycles3 ай бұрын
@@sebgutkopf Transport mode is something that would be nice on the T-type drivetrains... The large majority of us are on them here and agree about the issue with battery drain during transport. The individuals who designed the Fox Transfer Neo absolutely do ride and not just casually either, we've met and ridden with them more than once. We can't think of a single engineer that we've met in the bike space who wasn't also a cyclist themselves. Usually things like this that are missed are usually rooted in other issues that are out of their control.
@jensonusabicycles3 ай бұрын
You are correct about going in and out of the app to change the modes, they turn off after a single use then need to be manually turned back on so the frustration of using a phone with a full frame helmet is warranted.

This pricing isn't anything drastically new when it comes to wireless droppers. The Transfer Neo is slightly more expensive than the Reverb AXS when it was first introduced ($800 USD) but, slightly less expensive than what the current iteration of the Reverb AXS currently retails for ($861 USD). Regardless, we understand that this is a very expensive item and wireless droppers aren't for everyone. There are plenty of dropper options on the market that you can choose from to suit your needs. We have been extremely impressed with this Transfer Neo, the new One Up V3 dropper, the Wolf Tooth Resolve, and many many more dropper posts currently available so there are plenty of good options out there that fit your budget. Pick your favorite one, get out on your bike and enjoy the ride.
