Update. I got my post back from Fox. All updated parts for the same cost as a service. It is completely different from what I sent in. All updated upper post and such. Its a new post!

That’s epic. Dude I had same experience, but ended up getting the one up in before the fox came back. The dude who I sold it to said it’s mint though. It seems Fox is sticking to their word.

@@HippieMTB Thats cool. Mine came with my bike. As they say if it works don't fix it. I did buy another WTB Silverado after it fell apart from me throwing my bike in the back of the Subaru. I know saddles are off topic but the Silverado is epic.

Mine has always worked. Until it needed service after two years. It stuck some and I did the usual re-grease and it worked. Went for about two years. Just got it serviced with updated parts at no extra charge. Shipping with Pirate Ship was $6. Fox service has been 5 star.

I jumped on the clearance sale they’ve had on the old model. 200mm factory for about $120. I knew the gamble going in to it, but tried it anyway. Using 6 nm on the clamp (wolf tooth max recommended) with a dry stanchion it would rise slowly every few tries. Since the nut on my 200mm can sit right on the clamp while giving me the seat post height I need, I backed the clamp way off to about 3.5 nm, and oiled the stanchion. Operates much better. BUT, this is a premium product from a premium brand. It should operate smoothly at normal clamp torques. I may be lucky with letting the nut bear the weight instead of clamp friction, but having a perfect seat post height with the post bottomed out in the tube is a rare bike/ rider/ post perfect match. I fully expect this to fail at some point, maybe this season, maybe three seasons away, at which point maybe I can tolerate the cost of the new version. Won’t send it off to be serviced if it’s not warranty though.

Yeah that’s the big thing. I got my dropper post back from warranty and it was super fast. Only took 2 days since I live in NC a couple hours from Fox. Already purchased and installed the one up.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph! I have a three-week-old (Sept 2024) Pivot Trail 429 with the factory-installed Fox Transfer (with Kashima coating), and it's doing many of the same things. What a royal pain in the arse! In fairness, I've had issues with droppers from Lev and RockShox, but that was 7-8 years ago - you would think the manufacturers would have this shite sorted by now. I am tempted to go back to an old-school static seat post with a quick-release. Gah!!!

@@bobdobbs62 yeah it is sad, but they just released the 2024 version that is self serviceable along with resolves all the issues ours have

Yea. Mine sucks! I hate it and trying to get Fox to care is impossible.
@HippieMTBАй бұрын
@@searchanddiscovery facts. It’s fine now after the warranty service, the person whom bought it off of me shortly after says it’s still holding up with the new seals and everything, seems they’re honoring the warranty if it’s within the first year.

I have a FOX Transfer on my analog mtb. Haven’t had a single issue in over four years. I have a V2 OneUp that’s already had sticking issues less than 8 months in on my emtb. Considering swapping for a FOX. FOX is way more reliable than this OneUp.
@HippieMTB2 ай бұрын
@@skellener that’s great to hear you had a great experience. However which Fox transfer do you have? The kashima coated ones don’t have the same issue as the elite. Fox even acknowledged that the elite droppers were defective and that’s why they made the new one. The one up v2 and v3 are the most reliable posts on the market and self serviceable.

Very exaggerated description of your issues. I’ve purchased 5 of the fox dropper post 4 new and one used. First one purchased in 2014 and it still runs fairly well. Last one I purchased used last year and it there was a bit of sticking but a quick service with some cleaning and lube fixed that problem. I have never come across the problems you described and to say AVOID this post is not warranted. Fox has transfer post have a history of great reliability going back to the fox doss dropper post. I’m sure you have a qualified service technician in your area that can remedy the problem and maybe if you purchased the post locally. They might just service for free. Cheers
