Little tip for you guys... locktite the bolts for the stacks. Have an ITB setup on my friends 2.4 stroker s2k and we had 3 of the bolts entirely back out of the threads and the rest were super loose. One of the bolts even made it down into the throttle. Luckily it bounced around on top of the valve and never made it down into the cylinder and we were able to fish it out. Put a bit of blue locktite on them and have not had a problem since. We did not find torquing the bolts sufficient enough for keeping them on. Keep up the good work!

+Greg Petroski good tip! Scary to think one of those bolts made its way into the throttle! Dodged a bullet there. We'll definitely loctite ours.

Nice to see it %90 finished. For a cleaner look and more room under the ITB assembly you can try using 90° vacuum push fitting in the distribution block and intake runners so the vacuum tubing will have a straight shot instead of making a large U. A+ on the vid guys..

18:28 - "I don't think that's gonna do any harm" ...except if the alternator belt lets go... or alternator heat starts to deform the hose which could cause accelerated perishing and then a nice leak of coolant over the alternator...or even just rubbing from the rad not moving but the engine moving depending on the state of your engine bushes (I'm not sure if you uprated them or not tbh)
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
+MattySP34Ks Heat from the alternator deforming the hose? I'm going to say we have better odds throwing a rod through the block then having that happen. I'm confident that the fuel line being where it is will be completely fine.
@DarkMat907 жыл бұрын
20:10 That's definitely not the purpouse of the convergent runner. The purpouse is to transition an almost static fluid (air in the aribox) with the least amount of fluid dynamic losses. This is especially important on ITB because the runners are meant to use dynamic effects that increase the pressure of the A/F charge inside the cylinder (RAM effect) by timing correctly the pressure waves inside the runners and the engine. This means very high fluid velocity inside the runners, therefore very high fluid dynamic losses. High fluid velocity is an unwanted effect to mitigate, that comes out if you take advantage of the pressure waves refraction. This practice allow 1.2-1.3 times the ambient pressure in an NA engine, so dealing with high fluid velocity is plenty worth it.

Don't shoot the messenger, boys, but I think you're now in the market for a new hood. I seriously doubt the factory lid will close over the Jenvey fuel rail as it is currently fitted and the air cleaner,.. fuggitaboudit. If you pause the video at 24:24 it sure looks like the fuel rail is higher than the cam cover. (I know the car is jacked up on one side, but it still looks too high.) Maybe you'll get really lucky and have the space after removing the hood insulation, but I wouldn't feel comfortable betting on it.
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
+yunclehead We've actually closed the hood and everything clears without issue. The cleaner looks like it rests on the hood but the fuel rail clears without a doubt.

looks great can't wait to hear it run only things I would do different is to add anther return springs(have 2) cause none likes a stuck throttle on track and would have used 90Deg elbows for the vacuum lines, would make it look a little cleaner ( not that anyone will see it)

So many hoses 😁 how much more does the itb weigh with all its extra hoses and brackets over the stock intake?
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
+Jadon Ghereben Oh it's much lighter than the stock intake. The cast OE manifold is at least twice as heavy, not to mention the big steel bracket underneath it that supports it. That's all gone now. We've definitely saved some weight with the ITBs, though we're not too concerned with that. This is all about making mid-range power, which we hope to see lots of on the dyno very soon.

I guess the velocity stacks would create something called the venturi effect which accelerates air when flowing through a channel with a small diameter. In carburetors, there is a channel called a venturi channel or tube that uses this same concept to vaporize the air/fuel mixture for better combustion.

@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
+Mark B Yeah we tried closing the hood and it was fine. Interesting that you had clearance issues.
@MarkB44449 жыл бұрын
+Speed Academy I think my old ones were AT Power throttles but using the same Jenvey filter. The stacks must be a different angle to the Jenvey ones. Either that or my engine has some gangster lean on ;) Are you going for a naca bonnet duct above the filter? I always worried about number 4 running a bit lean, plus helps not breathing in hot air from the rad.
@craigderian91129 жыл бұрын
vacuum manifold doesn't care about the hose length, it's just a pressure (vacuum) tap, make them fit comfortably to not strain the push-lock and you're done. But the bracket for the manifold is totally appropriate, just needs some speed holes. Also, watch that those sliced electrical plug grommets don't pop out, I'd put a little adhesive in there... Nice work fellas, hope that ITB was worth it...maybe slide throttles next time?

Why do the ITB's look like they aren't opening all the way? Is it supposed to be that way? Were you just not holding the throttle cable as far as it could go?
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
+Ben Machoukas we just weren't opening them fully is all.

Dont you run with clamps on the brake booster line and such, or is it not needed?

isn't there a vacuum detent in the factory brake booster hose that needs to be there?
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
+Joel Mashburn Nope, we checked the OEM hose and there's nothing there.

+Speed Academy, that's strange! I just went downstairs to double check 04 s2000 has a detent in the factory brake booster vacuum hose. it's about 1ft from the booster and built into the hose. I remember when I did my v8 swap, I tried using regular vacuum hose and the brakes felt like crap!

+Joel Mashburn You're not the only one that has said that. I actually double checked to see if there was a second hose that I may have left on the intake manifold but nothing so now Im concerned/confused.

The ITB's isn't really considered a manifold since it doesn't have a chamber that goes into separate runners

Cool video though!!!

+Integra DIY fair enough! Dave should have known better, since he was being a know-it-all about the velocity stacks.
