I like it too. Jason Fenske from Engineering Explained makes a video about all the good stuff in it that made him buy one but for some reason people seem to almost get disappointed whether because of the power or tuning capabilities... The setup on this video looks perfect for it, the best so far. Instead of focusing on the power, they focus on the grip, power/weigh and balance. I think it's one of these cars where adding a big turbo is not the answer but instead, doing exactly that, transforming it into a race car. Lightweight, naturally aspirated.... I would change the exhaust for the road or add some kind of valve system (it's a race car I know)
@smooth_ops29424 жыл бұрын

I won't forget working at a Honda delear when these things first came out and i said a 4cyl? Pssshhh. Then I drove it. I would argue the s54 is the best engine ever made with the factory itb's and a carbon airbox. However, it doesn't have vtec or an aluminum block, which are drawbacks. There sadly will never be a holy grail l6 with itb's, aluminum block, and vtec/valvetronic. Unless, somebody wants to modify the crap out of a new bmw engine and make it n/a.
@apodski4 жыл бұрын
Double vanos allows for a car to almost have a full on race cam, vtec allows for a full on race cam, but only when it kicks in, doe. However, the vtec doesn't give you the perfectly smooth transition between tractor cam and almost race cam like vanos. Vanos + valvetronic is almost perfection in valve operation.
@apodski4 жыл бұрын
All these engines are kind of a mute point though, because bmw really thoroughly dropped making drivers cars during and after the e90. It's a sad state of affairs. So z4m coupe is one of the all time greatest, unless you really want to dish out for cayman. Can't have a v6 elise in the US.

Good vid. Like the new lead follow shots love s2000s. If this is your 1st experience, you can (I hope) review so many others for different experiences (SC, TC, Stock, ap1, ap2, street, track (this vid) etc... Keep up the good content.

“This car coming out in the year 2000 is therefore called the s2000.” Lmao

Savagegeese's main complaint about S2k was regarding rag-top ambient -sound on the freeway. I own one (AP2) and they are noisy in said environment. That's where the squeaks and rattles comment resonates. Otherwise the car is very stable build-wise.

What a great case for keeping the high-revving NA, four-cylinder power plants alive and well. @Zack: revisit the honda prelude TST video with Matt driving from several years back. Also, see if you can get your hands on an un-molested Integra GS-R (or Type-R) for high-revving, modest horse power shenanigans. I haven't driven the S2000 (would love to). If it is anything like the GS-R (and better) then it must be a glorious experience.

Can confirm, once you swap out the exhaust for something bigger, the interior and exterior pieces on the car will vibrate like nothing you've ever heard before. Chasing them down is super fun too!

iMickel AP2 I tried that and vibrated everything on my 170K AP2 to my core. Then again I don't enjoy crazy loud exhaust like I used to now that I'm in my 30's.
