I doubt either one of you have any idea of what is really going on here. There have been multiple recalls in the 2022/23 model paccars, Paccar being the manufacturer of Peterbilt and Kenworth. The digital dashes go out all the time. The previous company that I worked for had to send 15 new road tractors back to the manufacturer to have the entire dash replaced, not just the screen, but the entire dash. Digital gauges are shit in a big truck. I’ve never had an analog gauge fry, and I’ve driven trucks with well over 1.5 million miles. Car haulers often. My company gives their drivers fresh trucks and let’s them pick a theme. Then they paint the truck for the theme

I am an extra truck driver. I've driven over half a different trucks, at least at least four different makes of truck. I've also driven three different decades of Peterbilt and the peterbilts have always been the worst truck I've ever driven. The newest Peterbilt I've driven had the power steering pump off of a Ford F-150. I was able to cross-reference the part number with Ford and confirm that it literally used an F-150 power steering pump. The only thing that Peter built actually concentrates on doing when they build their trucks is to make sure that their trucks still have plenty of power. They're good, drag, racers and super fast trucks. But that's the only thing that they do well is speed in my personal experience. They've been the worst trucks to drive because they shift the worst. They handle the worst and they have about the crappiest brakes of any commercial vehicle on the road that you can get. I think that the insurance companies should look harder into these things and if they looked deep enough in and compare them to other makes and models they would be the most expensive truck to ensure on the road they're also the trucks where I'm cruising down the interstate at 75 there flying by me at 90 to 100 miles an hour. Clearly they've got their target market and these are not good trucks. If I went back into truck driving and was doing anything that was not agricultural and my company put me in a Peterbilt I would ask them what is wrong with you guys these trucks would be my last choice to have on the road. Not to mention the fact that if you're not doing basic pull in on a simple parallel and park, drop your trailer and back into another parallel parked trailer that you're going to have a rough time with it because this is the only truck on the market that has such a terrible steering radius that to make a full circle turn takes a total of nearly four lengths of the truck itself but I will give it to you. They can almost compete with the Tesla semi with a 10,000 lb weight on the back. Just like the Tesla semi they can do a zero to 60 in about 5 and 1/2 seconds which is 1 and 1/2 seconds slower than the Tesla semi The only truck that Elon looked at when designing the Tesla semi was Peterbilt. He didn't look at Kenworth Freightliner or Volvo the actual manufacturers that hold a higher market share than Peterbilt, which is why the Tesla semi is such a joke and seems like it's just a dragster calling itself. A semi truck.

And this is why I'm glad I have a truck with actual gauges.
@michelwijnand Жыл бұрын
Those can get it wrong too. I was once driving the topspeed of 90kph with an iveco truck and the gauge said 120, drove 60 and it said 90, and 30 when standing still. Restarting the car fixed it, nowadays cars have so much electronics between everything that it can all be mistaken

@@michelwijnand Aye, that's a good point. Still, at least you don't need to pull fuses to fix that.

So it can get physically stuck and require percussive maintenance instead of a simple restart?

We do have a fix for that. Take the truck to a Pete dealership to have the dash updated. It's a known problem.

My trainers truck (I drive for TMC) would do that and his truck is a ‘22 with the digital dash but mine which is a ‘23 doesn’t do that. I believe Peterbilt did an upgrade on the software. Not sure what model year yours is tho.

But if the rookie doesn’t mention this to the people that owned the truck, they will never know about it on your pre-trip in your post trip. I hope you know what that is supposed to write down if you have anything that is not on the page right on the back of the page turn it in, and make sure you indicate on the front side of the page that there’s something on the back of the page they need to read

Reset your speed sensors by pushing them against the tone rings. They self adjust for proper air gap over 5 mph. Then scan the CAN for any active fault codes.
