As someone who was in highschool in the early 90s, we did the eggs. Had to draw on them and name them before we left class and fill out diaries about taking care of our egg babies. I still have a picture somewhere of mine, lol.

On the Angel/age issue, remember *when* he grew up. Men didn't marry until late 20s, and Buffy would be an old maid at 17.

Bad eggs is one of my favourite worst episodes on the show. I like the general horniness and it's a fun trope. The jumpscares work on me 100% of the time. Entertaining enough for a filler and no blatant sexism as far as I can remember. Lyle catching his hat mid-air at the beginning is just 👌 And I love the shot of Buffy climbing out of the ground covered in blood. The "when I look into the future all I see is you" bit feels important somehow. As a slayer Buffy isn't expected to live a long life and she's aware of it especially after dying in season 1. So she can't imagine herself having children. She can't project herself too far into the future. The only thing she thinks is certain in her future is Angel being with her.

As a teen sometimes we just wanted to watch our fav shows even if it had no progression or depth. Personally I just wanted to see the gang, squeal with delight over Buffy/Angel’s inappropriate relationship and laugh 🤷🏽♀️😂

No, *Buffy* doesn't need an MRI, *Giles* does. Buffy has supernatural healing ability, plus Giles has been knocked out WAY more often.

I love this episode. I was like 13 and had never seen any alien taking people over movies. It was such a fresh concept for me. But beyond that I like the vamp Bro that lives….i don’t know why I find him attractive. I mean I DO but it’s like why him? And that accent. I want to hate it but I smile the whole time he’s talking. 😂😂😂🤷🏾♂️👍🏾✌🏾

Angel lived 1727-1753 . He was 26. So in ten years, Buffy will age past him. Which is the real reason why vampires and humans don't work out in the long run. Unless they turn the human, that is. But then they lose their souls and turn evil.
@B-Dad15 күн бұрын
The soul thing wouldn’t be an issue as almost no one has one bar one. So a vampire doesn’t think much about the humans soul. They see it as a gift, an immortal embrace.
@jadehowe557315 күн бұрын
Stefan was 17 but Damon was 25. Re Angel - he was initially like 19 which worked in s1 bc he had such a baby face but then they aged him up when he got his own show and boreanaz was clearly not passable as a 19 year old, so he became 26. His vamp age was always the same, but they changed which year he turned. Tbh their age gap never bothered me, simply because I didn’t see Buffy as a regular teenager. As the slayer, she can’t relate to anyone her own age because she literally has the fate of the world on her shoulders. There’s arguably an element of rapid maturation that takes place when she’s imbued with her slayer powers, because the slayer needs to be able and willing to make difficult life/death decisions. So you have this constant theme in the show of Buffy trying to hold onto her youth and do kid stuff but she never really seems to enjoy it because she’s not a kid anymore, she’s the slayer. Then you have Angel who, like Buffy, is the only one of his kind and isolated from his “peers”, because of something magical that was done to him. They’re basically kindreds in their loneliness
@sugardares14 күн бұрын
Agreed. Him being a vampire was the bigger problem, in my mind.
@sash47114 күн бұрын
The fact that Buffy is a slayer doesn't change the fact that she's a human. She is still biologically 17 and she acts like it too. Angel was 26 when he died, Buffy was 15 when he fell in love with her. It's gross af. Especially when you take into account that he himself sees her as immature! I'm honestly bothered that it doesn't bother you and you use "buffy is not a regular teenager, she's a superhero" as an excuse. Angel is borderline a p*do.
@jadehowe557314 күн бұрын
@@sugardares well exactly. It’s the same in literally every vampire movie/show, you have a centuries old vampire falling in love with a teenager. Usually people use the age they were turned as an excuse, as if they don’t continue to live their lives as adults when it’s convenient for the plot
@jadehowe557314 күн бұрын
@@sash471 you can be bothered all you like, I don’t particularly care. We’re talking about a fictional universe where our real life rules and worldviews don’t necessarily apply. You’re putting forward 2 arguments at once, biology and morality. Biologically, Buffy was a human teenager but she also had superhuman strength and enhanced instincts - ergo, not a regular teen. Absolutely, her lack of life experience resulted in a degree of immaturity but she wasn’t a normal teen, by any means. Angel, biologically was older than her when he turned but he wasn’t always intended to be 26. Buffy literally passed him off to her mom as a first year college student who was tutoring her, so he was clearly meant to be under 21 (around 18/19) and this was later retconned. Sure, there’s so many moral arguments you could make about the age gap but then I think you need to be fair and look at the whole series, not just their age gap. Angel (with his soul) isn’t presented as being a creep, routinely being into teens or grooming/pressuring Buffy in any way. It’s clearly intended to be a consensual relationship with 2 characters in love with the powers that be literally bringing them together to serve a higher purpose. The bigger issue in the show has always been his vampirism, not his age. Regardless of how old he was when he died, he’s still 240+ years old and it’s always gonna be weird. Just like it was weird that 1000+ year old Anya dated 17 year old Xander but, again, we’re dealing with fictional fantasy creatures and real world morals don’t necessarily apply.
@sugardares14 күн бұрын
@@jadehowe5573 The retconning of his age is fascinating because I wonder if that would actually make a difference to the people that hate him. Probably not.

Not everyone's favorite episode, but there are others that I don't like more. It has more of Xander and Cordelia still being hot for each other, so that's a plus in my book. The Gorch brothers are kind of funny. When this was airing, I never even considered the age difference between Buffy and Angel. It just wasn't something I thought about. But I blame the chemistry between Sarah and David.

I'm not only commenting for the algorithm on this one, but I watched your full episode.. Even though this episode is titled Bad Eggs it's just saved from being a completely rotten egg by the Gorch intro to the Buffyverse. Go fish also leaves me with a rotten taste, but equally has its redemptive qualitys. The two episodes I rank a 3. And will often skip re watching coz they stink.

If ever there was an episode that lives up to its name it's this, it stinks like Bad Eggs. I thought Bad Eggs was possibly one of the worst episodes of the series. A real filler to be honest. There are 144 episodes of BTVS they all can't be brilliant. Obviously this episode is a homage to 1950s classic horror film Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. Not much more to really say about this, so much better to come.
