@@piet1486 I agree so much! There is no deny he was bad in s1 and in the next seasons he made mistakes and wasn't good all the time, but he was learning and evolving and def became better person. And the things he did in s1 wasn't even close to the things Damon did, so the fact that some people puts so many hate on Tyler even at the end when he stopped being that s1 guy a long time ago is a bit sad and disappointing to me.

@@TheShiawasena ikr the main thing I love about shows is seeing character development and Tyler did get that (though I think the writers ruined his character again after season 4??) I would have loved seeing more scenes between Tyler and Matt/Jeremy of him properly addressing what he did or a scene of him apologising to Vicki, but regardless seeing his development from a teenager with a controlling father and unexplained anger issues, to actually finding a good outlet for his anger by leading an entire pack of werewolves -and nearly freeing them from Klaus if it wasn’t for Hayley- was so interesting and the lengths that he went to be with Caroline was also beautiful tbh but then they ruined him again

Enzo was S tier material because a lot of times he went through pain & torture in order to protect someone else.... Damon, the Twins, Bonnie. Even though his character was confused at times over who's loyalty he was sided with; Once he picked a side, he was dependable throughout.... Unless forced, like when he turned his humanity off to save Bonnie. Even then, there was a sense of loyalty because he didn't want anything to happen to Bonnie. Despite any flaws or faults Enzo may have had, there was a timelessness about him... Like that which reminds you of a Knight or a Prince of old England; or maybe one of those old Debonair/Dashing Classic Hollywood actors like Cary Grant or Errol Flynn. Whatever the case, ENZO is definitely S tier material.

Enzo was crap, it actually felt so satisfying when Stefan ripped his heart out, just felt sorry for Bonnie. He had it out for Stefan for no reason at all. He was so desperate to be Damon's friend that he decided to turn off his humanity because he didn't wanna hate him for something he did(can't remember what it was), having blamed Stefan for it at first. Couldn't stand him

He turned his humanity off regarding Damon because Damon was the only friend he had, and the only person that meant anything to him at that point... seeing how he had no family. I agree with you, he DID give Stefan a hard time. But, as he admitted, it was out of envy he had towards Stefan because Stefan had everything he always wanted... Family, Respect, A beautiful girl that loved and adored him (Caroline), and he felt like he just took for granted everything he had and didn't seem worthy of it. Whereas, a guy like Enzo who came up with nothing, and had no one to show him love or show him support, no respect, constantly being tortured and abused for over 70 years... Then yeah, you can see why some jealousy was thrown Stefan's way. (I'm not saying it was right, but I can understand the cause of it). Keep in mind that Damon said that Enzo was the reason that Damon didn't HATE Stefan for not rescuing him from their Augustine prison and reminded him of how lucky he was to have a brother.

I have no idea if anyone mentionned this but the actress that played Georgie is called Allison Scagliotti! I already knew her before she joined TVD before I've watched Warehouse 13 (great show by the way). Then she played a main character in Stitchers (if you looking for an underrated show to watch that would be the one because many people don't even know this Sci-fi show existed; it was cancelled after for 3 seasons). I haven't seen her in anything since which is such a shame because she's an amazing actress. PS: I agree with your list, except I put Elena, Enzo, Jo and Kai in S Tier. Plus I moved Kol to A.

Actually, The Vampire Diaries was a redemption story for Damon. That was Stefan's sole priority and worry throughout the entire show. The last episode reinforces this goal. Stefan achieved what he set out to do...redeem Damon, his brother.

The brothers' relationship is the thing I loved most about this show. Damon is my all time favourite character and his character, even though he had many setbacks, did develop over time. I loved Rose and think she'd have been a good partner for Damon even if just for a season or two. Elena was annoying and helpless as a human and honestly that was heightened as a vampire. I would have liked to see both brothers kick her to the kerb and let her end up alone due to the crappy way she treated them both. She didn't mind using Damon when she needed something or needed help. Not sure how Stefan wanted her when he knew she had feelings for someone else. Stefan - at first I found him deathly boring but his character did go through several interesting changes over the series which made him much more enjoyable. I couldn't warm to Enzo at all, there was always something just a bit off about him, other than when he was in the cells with Damon. Bonnie let everyone walk all over her which was a shame. I liked her but she was also selfish in that she brought Jeremy back despite warnings about the magic it would take. She didn't really learn from that since she tried to resurrect Enzo as well till Abby stopped her. I liked Caroline much better as a vampire, she was a condescending, controlling b*tch for much of Season 1, which she reverted back to when interfering in Damon and Elena's relationship later. I loved the original family and their dynamic with the rest of the characters. If I did a ratings tier I would tend to look at how they were season by season, rather than as a whole because who I liked in Season 1 probably changed over time. I would rate them on what they DID rather than what the potential could have been. I have to agree that Tyler was a total ass and Matt...was just Matt...not really interesting in the slightest. I didn't hate him in the early seasons, he was just there, but when he went against the people who had been his friends and had saved him multiple times over the series, I just couldn't find him anything but obnoxious and hateful. I didn't hate Seasons 7 and 8 - honestly I was glad to see the back of Elena. Would have liked them to kill her off when she left and let Damon move on with someone new. The characters I liked least were Hayley, Tyler, the Heretics apart from Valerie, Vicki and April. I'm sure there are others LOL that I just can't recall right now. I liked Jenna but they didn't do much with her other than the episode where she died. Jeremy, I alternated between he's a pain to he's okay but really not much other than that. Alaric, I liked more on first viewing but did enjoy his teaming up with Damon. Just my rambling and I'm sure others have much different opinions regarding the characters and it's always interesting to see them

Jeremy is one of my favorite characters, I felt like he was a badass as a hunter but they seemed to of nerfed him and just forgotten he was one for a bit, I felt like they wasted potential. But he left the show to hunt vampires across in different cities, so I guess that's off screen redemption because if he came back he'd probably be epic but he didn't sadly.

Thanks jer for making my 50th TVD re-run so special :)) My MR GOAT list is exactly the same as yours so that already says a lot XD I guess Damon as a character just transcends TVD for me, not in that there were no flaws in his writing or that such a character has never been done before, but just I've never been that much in tune and emotionally involved with a TV character before and for this long lol so i'd even go as far as giving him a separate tier if I could. ROSE is such a special character to me too. The episodes she was in, her connection with Damon, her death, all my favorites and that's such a big deal considering she was just there for a measly 2-3 eps.

I can agree with everything on here, you’re pretty accurate and this is coming from someone who’s watched this show over 9+ times. But Tyler and Jeremy are the complete opposite in my book. It is my ONLY complaint. How you hate Tyler, I hate Jeremy. & the way they introduced the werewolves with a Tyler is a reason why I liked Tyler. Jeremy never redeemed himself in my eyes.
