I love how this is in my recommend 7 years later. When pulling a horse trailer, we eventually go the speed limit we just don’t want to floor it with the horses in the back. Ok highways we do the limit, on back roads we normally do 5-10 under.

They crap on the pavement and the owners never pick it up. How can something so large be so scared of pretty much everything.
@jojjo84508 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the really late reply, but here's the explanation. Horses can get scared by, pretty much anything, because it's their instincts as prey animals. In the wild they have to run away from predators to survive, so if they see or hear something that might be a predator, they run. It's sort of "hard wired" in their brains to "run first, look later" because it's better to run away from nothing and not risk getting killed than looking first and then it might be to late to get away in time

It's not difficult. It just comes down to training and control and most people are too lazy and do an awful job at it. Man has been able to control horses and keep them brave for millennia. it's only in the last century that horse owners seem to have "forgotten". I know plenty of horse owners who take their responsibility seriously and there's absolutely no excuse for a horse to take flight when you overtake it doing literally 10mph while giving it 2 metres of space. Stop blaming your own inadequacies and failings in training on the horse. Its perfectly capable, even if you're not. Remember the charge of the light brigade? Those horses had never seen combat before, but their riders had trained them adequately and knew how to keep them under control. Also: Keep the beasts off the pavement, they belong on the road and single file, NOT side by side. You're not generating much good will by blocking the road and refusing to make space. Remember you're not entitled to obstruct the road for the sake of making your conversation easier. Their shit may be less smelly, but there's a hell of a lot more of it. On narrow pavements it's difficult to cross, it attracts and breeds flies and particularly in the snow is very easy to step in to. Oh, and dogs like to eat it, so you're also a nuisance to other pet owners. Summary/Tl;Dr: This is not an attack on you personally, but a general call to all horse riders to (pardon the pun) get off their high horses, step up, take responsibility and stop blaming your failings and laziness on the animal, which is perfectly capable.

You know why they move so slow, it's because Horses are actually quite 'delicate' if you go to fast they can get injured and not be able to walk or run anymore, i won't deny that horse boxes are annoying on the roads but you could implement a policy that restrict horse boxes from being on the roads during the busiest hours of the day (rush hours etc.)

@Deadmentellnotales-vf3gg7 жыл бұрын

Instead of stairs to the platforms it was built with long shallow ramps specifically designed to enable horses to arrive by train to the nearby Lonesome Farm race course. Horses really are a waste of space. And no, they do NOT taste good. I tried horse meat once and it's nowhere near as tasty as eating dog in China.
