Very special engine. Lasted a long, long time, lightweight, the last engines were special. 60° vee, Quad cam, 5 valves per cylinder, 54° split crankpins (very, very smooth revving engine) and add whatever else. They put these in (my opinion) the most beautiful saloon car in the world, EVER! The pre-facelift Alfa 156.

Timing chains are not an issue on the B7 RS4. Tensioners/Guides have the upgraded all metal construction unlike the plastic nonsense in the S4.

Never go above 4.5 rpm and you’ll be fine. My 3.0 aluminum v6 still kicks at 180k on the dash. Shes happy as long as I don’t go near the 5k range

How about the S54? 340PS from a 3,2 I6. Easily being about to make up to 390PS NA with an exhaust and intake. Motorsport derived engine, same engine as the McLaren F1 V12. The Audi has none of this.
