In 2021, Jeremy Grantham was telling anyone who would listen that global asset markets were in one of the biggest bubbles of all time-and that a reckoning was coming. That reckoning, he says, began the next year.
The co-founder of GMO LLC says that, while this reckoning recently took a break, it’s now back with a vengeance. Grantham joins this week’s episode of Merryn Talks Money to make the case that-as a result-no one should be invested in the US. In particular, he warns of the Russell 2000, with its high level of zombie companies and horrible debt levels. He calls it “the most vulnerable area” to rising rates.

Just by investing in value has led me to emerging markets. They are the cheapest value out there.

I always appreciate JG however I have issue with how he talks about 'the market'. The stock market is simply a market of stocks. There are MANY stocks selling with 10%-15% EPS growth and steady margins and large moats and well capitalized that trade at 12x this year earnings. Sure you have to buy insurance, healthcare, midstream, and small cap

you are referring to his claim that the S and P is overpriced with the Schiller being just under 30?

And they'll all fall, if panic sets in ...like in 1907 ...1929 ...2000 ...2007.

One question which nobody asks Grantham is the likelihood and impact of government intervention to “save” markets if any serious fall occurs?

If a serious fall occurs it's too late to save them.

Unfortunately the value of a common stock is what someone is willing to pay to buy it from you. True value is zero. As it’s promising nothing intrinsically A dividend stock has some value as long as pays a dividend So all models should be based on sentiment ie crowd behavior and how much money exists out there

I believe you will be wrong about your prediction USA will whether the storms survive better than the other major world economies for two major reasons, one the US appears to be incorporating crypto, Bitcoin and xrp, the dollar, and the US “legal system”.

No I'm sure that a currency backed by gold oil and bread would not survive a fiat currency😂

Is Grantham also a conservationist or environmentalist or is his interest in climate more based on general fear of world collapse and the financial consequences thereof?

It seems he doesn't eat his own cooking... He's heavily invested in the very stocks he says are overpriced... 😂
