PCU saved my life. I was in a dark place mentally. PCU came out, and that was my escape for those couple hours. I probably saw it 20 times in the theater. I loved it.

I graduated high school in 1993, so while I missed this in theaters, by the time it got on cable, I watched it and laughed my ass off. It stuck with me over the years, and my buddies and I quoted it to each other frequently. Now, I'm a parent with an almost 22 year old and almost 19 year old and realized I was lax in my parental rearing and sat down and watched with my youngest. She stopped several times, "Wait, this was a COMEDY back then? I mean...that's how it is NOW! Hell dad, it was practically that in my high school!"

Some ignored it. And you can see those people who followed it and learned from it. I'm Old now but have seen so much. It's funny watching Young Kids get Mad and upset at Rage against the Machine these days. All while the kids don't realize they personally didn't understand the message at all. They didn't put the work in to continue the fight. Now they're stuck

P-Funk was not the first choice for the band at the party. Originally Nirvana was scripted to play, but they were too expensive. The Goo Goo Dolls were considered, but Hart Bochner thought that they wouldn't be recognized in America because they weren't well-known at the time. Bochner finally decided on P-Funk

As comedy gets attacked and every phrase ever uttered gets scrutinized without the context of the period, I hear people say, "5 years ago we would have never imagined it would be this bad." I just shake my head. PCU is 29 years old. People who couldn't see it coming were simply looking the other way. PCU is one of the most prescient films ever made. It's also one of the funniest and most quotable (2nd only to Princess Bride) films I've ever watched. I am disappointed it hasn't made its way to streaming services, yet. I do still hold out hope, though.

I had just graduated from high school and I was living in South America totally immersed in Spanish and was starving to watch anything American. This movie came out and it was in English and dubbed subtitles in Spanish. It was like drinking a glass of water after walking through the desert. I laughed and studied the grammar at the same time. It was also when I was introduced to Jeremy Piven as an actor. I've been a fan ever since 1995. Thank you, Jeremy.

I bought the VHS 3 times and the DVD 2 times. I started high school in 98 and I would have been miserable if i hadnt seen this movie first. The fact this movie came out 30 years ago and we still didnt dodge the bullet, shows how corrupt that ideology is when we can be fully aware of its lunacy and still see the majority of an entire generation buy into it.
