@Stallzyx2 жыл бұрын
I don't know exactly where that is with the fail to signal, but if it is for pedestrians and there are no cars around that need the signal, then it would probably be a minor fault. Against the kerb, there is only one direction you will be moving off to indicate, away from the kerb. Perhaps leaving your car park there is an option of either left or right turn, and it is harder to tell from your vehicle's position alone if that makes sense

The serious fault at 18:44 seems a bit harsh. There's steady traffic in both the left and middle lanes and you can see at around 18:48 he is actually slightly faster than the cars in the left lane. Had the traffic lights not slowed things down, he would have steadily passed some of those cars in the left lane. Perhaps he even noticed this early on (I'm always looking ahead at slower moving traffic in the distant left lane). For me moving to the left lane on roads like this in steady traffic is an unnecessary lane change. Like many cars in this clip, I'd stick in the center lane unless a) I could see the left lane was completely clear for a significant distance ahead or b) I were lane hogging and holding up traffic behind me. On top of this, experienced drivers may already know that their route in about 30 seconds is not the left lane so would just stick to the middle lane. The left lane rule really only becomes apparent when you are on a stretch of road that goes on for a bit, none of the lanes are directing you to a specific route, and drivers are unnecessarily hogging overtaking lanes.

I agree, there was no one on the left I think it should have been a minor there maximum.

Sorry, this was definitely a serious. He should have moved to the left lane at the first opportunity until he saw signs telling him to go to a particular lane. Of course, people once they pass their test don't do this, but it's what you're meant to be doing. Really from the junction he should have turned right into the left lane instead of into the right lane. It looks like he was also on that road for a few minutes, and so that would be a serious fault.

@@deanolium you are right. I wasn't thinking about this from a driving instructor point of view. I think it highlights the flaws with the way we are instructed/tested. No-one would get reprimanded by law enforcement for doing this. It's practically impossible to regulate. I like most people had to unlearn what the instructor taught me as it's often not practical and also potentially dangerous in some situations. I especially hate the left hand lane rule when you know there will be upcoming events that dictate the lane you ought to be in e.g. a route you are planning or potential merging traffic from the left which you can anticipate etc. It's safer to plan ahead than to always move into the left lane because the highway code says so.

Seems like people who have their license a long time stop using their mirrors as that seems to be most faults that I’ve noticed so far. I only have my license a year and I started noticing I take some turns that I’m used to without checking mirrors. It’s a bad habit I gotta correct. Great video btw

You are so priviledged to be able to drive in such a great environment. Here in India, we can only dream of this. In fact, most of the people don't even dream about it as they don't know any better.

I’m 35 years old and have been an illegal driver most of my life, joyriding as a kid etc, so had a 2 hour lesson to try and erase my bad habits and passed my test last week with 2 minors.. bad observations would have been my downfall according to my instructor.. thank god for that lesson I took the day before..

Guys can I know, why do we need to check the mirror before slowing down? Sorry I'm new to driving and I do follow this rule; I just can't get the logic behind it since the person driving behind us should be following close to our speed. And also, if I really needed to slow down and park on that place, how do I indicate to him that I'm slowing down?
