some of these kids don't realize how much jeremy wray was crushing spots during the 90s-early 2000s. Mans was always ahead of his time.

Check out his Blockhead part or 411 Issue #1 Pro Spotlight or Color video too, that's early 90's destroying everything

That’s the thing tho. Telling some kid that some dude ripped back in the day never gets the point across. Penny is a perfect example. There’s only a handful of clips of him, most of the stories you hear were live with no footage. If you didn’t see him live for yourself, chances are you are missing most of the allure, and it’s a criminal shame
@turtleboypurp
@turtleboypurp Жыл бұрын
@@khrissyboy69 I disagree, in order to appreciate something your passionate about its highly important to know the history of those that paved and came before you. It's not required by any means but I think those that have an insight on the history will always have a greater appreciation for it. The ability to dive into that history is so much easier now days too so imo there really isn't any excuse not to.

@@Lilmax006 haha thats dope they got that history in that game and yeah he kind of stopped being super active as a pro around that time so you just barely missed his rampage on spots.

J Wray is like the good guy in skateboarding, and i like that about him. He crushed going big when no one was, but he always came across as a humble nice guy, which always made him stand out from the rest of the too cool, kinda assholes who made up the majority of pros back in the 90’s. Definitely does not get the respect he deserves, but just add him to the list i guess as he’s not the only one…

I was no more than 6 months into skating when my friend who rode for XYZ skate shop got us tickets to the premiere of Secondhand Smoke. Looking back I remember Jaime Thomas, Alphonzo Rawls, Danny and Colin and a few other guys who’s personalities stood out, but at the time I had no idea who any of those guys were. I’ll always remember that as one of the best memories of my childhood.

I’m so glad he talked about every single clip. I started skating in 96 so this part was before my time. When I eventually discovered it I was completely blown away. It’s like he was a terminator sent back in time to 1994 to film this part or something. It was that ahead of its time. The tricks would’ve held up in his Adio part like eight years later.

Jeremy is one of my favourite skateboarders of all time. I learned how to perfect my kickflip by watching his video parts back in the day, and I still do them the same way. I also had the chance to meet him in Paris at the "Bercy blocks", where he kicked some heavy tricks on the four and five blocks. Those tricks are part of the secret footage you unlocked at the end of the first Tony Hawk video game. There were also other guys: Steve Berra, Jamie Thomas (I think it was him) had a broken arm and was not skating but filming that day. My friends and I witnessed some sick skateboarding that day.

I bought the video and took it to school and my art teacher let me and 6 of my skate buddies show it to the entire class. We were all freaking out I’ve the frontside flip down Carlsbad, knowing Kris Markovich was the only person to do a kickflip down it. Memories for life!!! Thanks JW!!!!

More of these please!!!! Went to a demo once and ALL the big name world/Plan B pros were too cool to skate it, stoned, barely awake sitting on their boards or off somewhere smoking more weed and macking with 16 year olds. EXCEPT THIS GUY! blazing, sweating, showing up all the hometown heroes and the hungry ams smiling all the way through. I had driven hours to get there, only saw one demo every couple of years cuz my state was not on the circuit. He saved the day!

I vividly remember walking into Pacific Drive one winter day in SD and this part was playing on the mini tv-vcr combo on the skate counter the day the tapes came to the shop. This part stands up so incredibly well today almost 30 years later. I remember another time Jamie Thomas was in there setting up a board and called Jeremy Wray on the phone calling him "Jay Wray" and boasting that he had beat Duffy's rail grind stair length record. What times those were!
