I play in these right now. 5-9, 203 lbs. I picked them up at launch and have not had any issues with the stability so far. I don’t do the shifty stuff. I play in the post, mid range, and spot up on the wings. Moving laterally while defending hasn’t been a problem for me. I’m liking the shoe a lot. I’m getting another pair to wear casually too because I mess with them that much.

No shank no deal. The 38s are epic. These don’t have the midfoot or torsional support I need. Disappointing.

I personally have had a phenomenal time in these shoes they are for sure a top on my rotation. I’ve had no issues with stability or containment. Traction has been great for me as well I’m 6’6 and don’t have any complaints so far hopefully it stays that way. Hope you have a safe and speedy recovery.

I find the issue with the Jordan signature line is they try to reinvent the wheel every time. There is no progression from one shoe to the next as of recently. What made the kobe line so great was they built on the previous shoe to make the next one better.

Since the 29s, I’d say the 34s and 38s have been the best Jordans to hoop in. Probably gonna wait for these to hit the steeep discount

Hands down one of my favorite basketball players who's reviewing shoes. Instead of finding things to complain about, you just talk about your experience with the shoe. Think you hit the nail on the head: Jordan made a big man shoe that guards want to hoop in. Might not be the most stable, but that cushion set up is fun to play in, and it's not "dangerous" the way some reviewers talk about.

The 29 imo is a freak of a shoe. It was just beastly (well, back in its time). Prolly, still a beast compared to hoop shoes nowadays.

This shoe doesn't have a carbon fiber plate, unlike their previous models. In fact, it doesn't have any, not even a plastic one. For $200, it's a pass, I'll keep my 36s and 38s.

I’ve rolled over several times playing in these, and it’s worse when I didn’t have specific orthotics in to add support. There’s so many positive things about these shoes, but stability is a major concern. I would not play in these if I didn’t have other insoles to add support in them, but with it, they are very good. I wish the fit was slightly better, but overall, solid shoe minus the stability.

Ok so it looks like Rui and paolo are the most well known nba players wearing them. Both are big slashers who compress foam way more than the average shoe reviewer. It feels like the flagship aj is looking to lockdown that demographic and the lebron is trying to be a Kobe for those who want Kobe’s to have more cushion and stability with kd’s existing in between the two. Thoughts?

I agree with you man. As a side note, cats are paying $200-$250 for retros and Kobe’s. These are manageable, especially if you can throw a gift card on them and save $20-$25 or got that military/first responder/medical discount on these jawns.

Worst AJ performance in years! Played in these for 2 weeks, never felt sorer as my legs worked overtime to combat the instability of the shoe. Jordan Brand is so hit and miss the last few years it’s quite disappointing. Aesthetically the 39 is great, I was really looking forward to this model, definitely not worth buying in my opinion when you have so many great offerings from WOW, NB and even EQLZ. The AJ line really needs to step it up because they really should be the benchmark every year for both aesthetics and performance, this offering was sub par.

The problem with the Jordan 39 is that THEY DON’T HAVE A CARBON FIBER SHANK PLATE 😑😵💫😵💫😵💫…or any shank plate at all. I just don’t understand this at all. Whether it’s full length or 3/4 length, top of the line basketball sneakers NEED TO HAVE A CARBON SHANK. ‼️‼️ That’s literally one of the baseline features that every elite basketball sneaker needs to have. Especially for that $200 price point. They could’ve easily put a full length carbon plate (like the Way Of Wade 11) under the ZoomX and Zoom unit, and that would done wonders for the stability, bounce, force return, foot fatigue, etc. 💡‼️ The solution is so simple.
