The EU has does more border checks on trade going between NI and ROI than they do on all goods flowing in from the EUs entire eastern border. The EU think mystery meat flowing in from Turkey isnt a problem but they take issue with products made in the UK potentially entering the single market through ROI even though we still use the same standards and regulations, its a clear attempt to make trade difficult without a genuine reason, its just a punishment, you know it know it, everyone knows it, you just wont admit it because you are ideologically blinded by it.

Yes it would ! EU bankers funding the sub prime loans of the European Central Bank to LOAN TO New MEMBER STATES TO MAKE THEM ELIGIBLE FOR QUALIFICATION TO EU MEMBERSHIP caused the CREDIT CRISIS! UK people whom due to BLAIR taking us into this champagne socialists clan of much revised EU Treaties n 2004, WITHOUT the consent of the VOTE of the legal population in a PRIOR EU REF were OBLIGATED to bail out the EU bankers and the PENSION ENTITLEMENT of the mega paid multi millionaire LAWYERS ( AS STARMER IS) and bureucrats of the EUROPEAN COMMISSION!,

And oh dear, the cost of wine and their children can't go to marry anyone in Europe and then that abhorrent comment that Brexit voters are racist as the usual comment to race as the reason for Brexit are so appallingly arrogant, selfish and responsible for the division, neglect and lack of infrastructure to OUR OWN COUNTRY! £10 to travel to the UK from Germany! It's a pittance to what Germany and the EU have taken from the UK!, We know who will benefit from the BRINO which is GREAT BRITISH ENERGY:Students from WEALTHY GERMAN FAMILIES to take the courses in top science and AI tech in UK Universities and GERMAN and EU manufacturers ( why Reeves and Starmer went to SIEMENS IN GERMANY,) by use of the prime agricultural land taken from BRITISH FAMILY FARMERS for ED MILLIBAND'S WIND TURBINE FARMS to supply the electricity for profit to EU countries and Germany especially. They who slavishly followed EU policy and who have fouled up their energy supply with so called GREEN POLICIES, which relied on GAS from Putin with love and COAL from Poland !

Mike Parry thick as mince. The EU absolutely isn't punishing us. If you want to trade with EU you have to follow their rules only now the Brexiteers have removed us having any say, influence, veto etc. Even on other things like the new Apple cables/adapters. The EU legislated for them. The Americans weren't going to keep a different cable just for little none significant Blighty so by default our cables have to change to follow EU's rules.

I voted to leave and would do the same again. The only thing i would say caused any problem. Is the Freedom of Movement which the Governments since have Replaced with Mass Immigration from Countries without our European Morals, Standards, Education and Relevant Skills. But thats happened all over the EU which is a very strange situation. The EU is based on the Feudal System with the same sort of policies. Which at the time created Civil Wars in the end.

7:59 The UK’s relationship with the enlargement of the European Union was always ambivalent. The UK was initially a strong proponent of EU enlargement, particularly in the 1990s. Mike et al keep pressing this idea of 'punishment' and its false. The EU are applying the rules that apply to everyone who is NOT an EU member; be it import/export law, international travel, security and protecting its own borders then EU law applies to everybody not just to Britain! Deary me, this is Brexit 101. And why is this so? Because Pt. 3 of Article 50 clearly says that once the wirhdrawal agreement is reached and ratified then "all existing laws, rules, agreements and decisions Cease to take effect" between the EU and the seceding country" We invoked Article 50. The EU agreed to us leaving (reluctantly). It really is that simple.
@pathanlon30284 сағат бұрын
Johnson wanted a no deal Brexit. So that meant any trade we have has to conform to EU standards and we have to provide papers to prove it and we want the EU to do the same, this increases costs for companies and as we are a very big food importer the cost of food has increased.

Voted Brexit as a younger man because the economy wasn't working for me so I felt that if Brexit went well things may improve for working class people like me, if things went wrong then it would probably only affect the middle class gap year Tarquins of the country and there would be little change for us working class folks. Unfortunately our Government didn't make a success of it but for me it's had no effect either way. Would I vote Brexit again? No idea I was almost 50/50 last time.

@PastaSauce. For me the remainer side really turned me off they were their own worst enemy. All I could hear was middle class colleagues saying how awful it would be as their darling Mizzy and Tarquin want to go travelling for a year before/after university and noone was telling me as a working class person what was in it for me. For me little did change but I know it wasn't great for businesses who relied on imports and exports so that's the only thing that would make me reconsider.

How? Look how difficult the NI issue has been. Do you honestly think the EU would accept Scotland which would be firmly attached to England? Westminster wouldn’t support or fund a hard border so Scotland would have to foot the bill and it’s a colossal task in itself then they’d have to have the funds to actually be a viable member of the EU. Independence is likely but subsequent membership of the EU isn’t highly unlikely.

thats what happens when you have a divorce what did you except the EU to do embrace you?

No we just expected to be treated like every other third country. There are more border checks on goods going between NI and ROI than there are on goods flowing across the entire eastern border of the EU, you are telling me weird mystery meat and dodgy electronics coming from Turkey is of less concern than Beef from NI going to ROI thats made to the same high standard as EU beef??? Seriously they tried their best to make basic trade as difficult as possible, they want to make an example of the UK so other countries dont leave. Pretty much all EU countries now have anti EU parties and most are doing well, Marine La Pen in France AFD in Germany Geert Wilders in the Netherlands and then you have sceptics like Meloni in Italy and then you have countries like Hungary and Slovakia who outright go against EU rulings on immigration, even taking sanctions from the EU as a punishment. The Baltic states arnt too keen either, they want the trade but hate the political union and Sweden isnt looking too fond anymore either. The EU has over played its hand and its messed up, it needs to revert back to a trade union because the political union isnt working.
