Five years ago to the day, we formally left the European Union after 52% of Brits voted for Brexit in 2016.
We've left freedom of movement and free trade behind, and no longer have to follow the European Union's laws.
And we've stopped sending money to the EU - in the last financial year before Brexit our contribution to the EU Budget was 18.3 billion pounds.
But has all this led to benefits for YOUR life?

I live in Germany and as a Brit i have to say we (Germany) have had 20 years of growth and when I came here in 2004 average salaries in the UK and Germany were pretty similar and now Germany’s average salary is around 10k more than the UK’s so this boring narative that Germany is in recession is just cherry picking a time point and does not reflect reality, yep it is in recession but because it decided 20 years ago to go for cheap Russian gas and has had to buy in much more expensive gas so nothing to do with the EU but Germany will recover and still be more than 10k up on the uK.

And the worst consequences of Brexit hasn't even kicked in yet. The UK economy has stalled and moved backwards, it will deteriorate further and the decline will pick up speed exponentially. Germany is beautiful, clean and wealthy, the UK is struggling on all fronts, bathing in their own raw sewage.

Because of Brexit my gf and I can't be together. We are working class and don't have the resources needed. So anyone who supports Brexit, believes if you are working class, you can't freely find love. You are forced to remain in a prison called Britain.

Does the UK not have a COVID recovery fund at all then?! Current estimates of the total cost of government Covid-19 measures range from about £310 billion to £410 billion. This is the equivalent of about £4,600 to £6,100 per person in the UK. Yes, the EUs is higher - but has anyone told the blonde that the EU is made up of 27 different countries!! 😂

If the Brexiteers really wanted to help British workers they should have put up the minimum wage, thus destroying the incentive to hire 'cheap' foreign workers. Instead they did the bidding of the top 1% and kept wages and government investment low. Allowing foreign investors to buy up our utilities and industries and line their own pockets.

Yes, that's true, orange man is dangerous for all of us.. the counties gather together.. I'm wondering if he will not create problems to such high extent than we will end up in war... I'm not blaming UK government negotiating with the UE and dealing with temporary settled status to go automatic for some ue residents in the UK.. orange man and Nigel are Nazis. Nagiel can't talk like orange man in the UK because it's unlawful.. nagiel is roughly once a month in the USA kissing orange man,s and musk backsides...not doing anything for his constituency... He talks about free speech... Now we see "free speech " in America...for eg musk wants to finally boycott Wikipedia because it's too much not nice true about far right movement and parties.. "free speech " in eyes of fascists. And the orange man is going after free media and journalists in America... There we go .

Now let’s see how many callers are cherry picked to say we got it wrong . And no love not especially in London the whole country is entitled to to the same. Are any European countries economies doing any better? Their top economy (Germany) has been in a recession. Seems the Miliband/Greta Thurnburg vision isn't working for them 🤔
@leftforbed1041
@leftforbed1041 6 күн бұрын
How long have they been in recession compared to the UK’s downward spiral? Quality of life in Germany is still much better than the UK, and part of the reason for the downturn there is their decision to rely on cheap Russian gas. Our universities are one of the country’s biggest employers and they’re cutting jobs in huge swathes, which will impact hugely on the UK economy.
