I think it should be left as it was. I personally feel uncomfortable in a gender neutral.

"People who want to do horrible things to other people are not going to be put off or stopped by a sign on the door. They will find ways of doing those things." Of course that's true. But do we want to make it EASIER for such men? It's a bit like the argument that not everyone is a burglar. Does that mean that we go out and leave our front door wide open? Of course not. When it comes to women's safety in toilets, we do all that is reasonably possible to ensure their safety. GOOD MEN STAY OUT SO BAD MEN STAND OUT.

What if you want to get away from a date with someone who seems potentially dangerous to make a phone call? That is what the safe space is for.

What is Storm going on about? Her analogy is rubbish. The analogy situation is would she rather go in a train carriage with a lone woman or a lone man not if there is one man or two men!

Just got back from Europe and all the city restaurants are unisex. The buildings are so small and old it’s usually just one toilet. This county is a joke.

If it’s a one room cubicle it’s fine. That’s what I mainly experienced in Europe. The problem is when it’s the cubicles.

@ all gender neutral toilets I’ve been in with multiple toilets don’t have urinals and have floor to ceiling lockable doors. It’s just the sink area that’s mixed. Big deal over nothing.

I wouldn't feel comfortable using a gender neutral toilet, and I'm a man. The only gender neutral toilet I'll use is a single cubicle.

Back in the day in the club's boys and girls could use the same toilet despite what it said on the door. The toilets were a hang out. me and my gay brother used to hang with the girls and boys chatting rubbish and sharing sweets. It was fun and made so many friends. Eventually laws tightened and had to use boys only toilet. It took away that fun chatter everyone today to have in the same bathroom. Bouncers didn't mind but saying this it was part of clubbing culture and it wouldn't be the same now!

I think toilets everwhere need an upgrade. Why do they not go to the floor and up to the ceiling and they always echo!! We have some toilets in our town that are more like rooms which I think are better.

@ that doesn't make it disgusting, I agree we shouldn't necessarily change all toilets system just for a minority of trans people, I just don't see why it's disgusting

@@Bickle121 Either the seat is up, with wee all around the rim, or there is wee on the seat, and on the floor around the base of the toilet. Every time I have used neutral toilets. Also, without sounding really lude, some men do ‘other things’ which leave behind bodily fluids that are not something a woman or child should have to risk coming into contact with.

@ I as a young man worked in Pubs for years and at times had to clean both toilets at times, trust me woman aren't some bastion of cleanliness. Bloody pads on the floor next to the bin, excrement on the floor, sick everywhere and on and on.

So they are allowed to say women are more hygienic than men... Ask anyone who works in a bar / club which toilets are worse at the end of the night.

When I was at my brutally tough all-boys' grammar school in the 1970s we had to use privacy-free urinal walls designed to accommodate 4, but regularly used by 6 (we were allowed to use them only at two points in the day). Being one of two circumcised boys in a class of 30, I soon started to get unwelcome attention as a result of the mutilation that was inflicted on me when I was a baby. It traumatised me, to the extent that eventually I regrew my foreskin (yes it IS possible). There should be an outright ban on urinals in schools ; only soundproof and vision-proof cubicles should be allowed and OFSTED inspectors should check for compliance with this. Urinals in publicly-accessible buildings should be screened by law, no exceptions. The argument that such screens are "too expensive" is laughable when you consider how much is squandered on the evils of gender-neutral toilets, which should be banned outright. It's bad enough fir a male to have to use an unscreened public urinal, never mind a gender-neutral toilet. We managed for centuries without gender neutral toilets; we can and should go on doing so.
