I’ve been camping literally since the day I was born, and i was taught to be a considerate camper-don’t play your music too loud at any time of day; police your area to keep it neat and if you can, leave the site looking better than when you found it. I just don’t understand how courtesies are not innate. I get you. 😊

Thank you for letting people know that we all need to respect each other. I would like to add two more items: 1) Campers need to respect the quiet time as posted in all park rules, and 2, dogs should always be on a leash or fully under the owners control. It’s not ok to allow your dog to go outside unsupervised to relieve itself. Totally disrespectful to allow your dog to urinate on my wheels! You guys are great, jeep up the honest videos! People need to leave their dogs at home if they cannot take care of them on a leash. There should never be off the leash time unless the park has a dog park which has a fenced in part. I know people want their pets with thm but must take care of them. 73

Or on your fresh water hose and under your camper as a recent camping location I was at happened. They had 3 dogs never on a leash that thought my 5R was it's personal bathroom and the people watched as it happened!!! I was furious that I had to put away the hose into the basement after several dogs urinated on it . Needless to say the host didn't do much about it 😡 I was tempted to walk over to there water spigot and ask if it's ok to relieve myself on the hose.

@robertcolpitts45342 жыл бұрын
Great video! It never ceases to amaze me how just a few people can ruin things because of a basic lack of courtesy, good manners and simple consideration of others. We've come in late on occasions due to some unforeseen incident along the way but always call ahead giving an ETA based on our navigation system estimates (usually pretty accurate). The hosts really appreciate that. We are as quiet as a mouse when we arrive (well, as quiet as we can be with a diesel tow vehicle anyway) and try to be as respectful of our neighbors as we can. We finish setting up in the morning after everyone is up and about. Story about a stupid, inconsiderate camper that happened to us: We came into an RV park one afternoon where we had reservations. The host guided us to our camp site, guides us in and heads back to the office. When I went to plug the power cord in our pedestal, it was occupied with someone else's plug. The cord belonged to the neighbor's trailer next door which was parked backwards. Reason: he was with another family (they were traveling together) and wanted their door to face their friend's door. When I asked him to please move his plug to his own pedestal so I could hook up, he told me to plug into another pedestal. I told Mr. "Goodneighbor" he needed to use his own pedestal not mine. I offered to help him set it up correctly but he told me not to be an ignorant a-hole. Seriously? Well, I tried. So we got the owner down there, he turned the breaker off, pulled the Mr. "Goodneighbor's" plug out, strung it around the front of his trailer and laid it in front of the correct pedestal. I plugged in and turned the breaker on just as Mr. "Goodneighbor" came out yelling and swearing at me. The park owner stepped in and chewed Mr. "Goodneighbor" out and told him to pack his stuff up and leave immediately. Apparently, Mr. "Goodneighbor" had already been told he was parked incorrectly and to park his trailer properly. The park owner apologized to us and said Mr. "Goodneighbor" would never be coming back again. Let's just say Mr. "Goodneighbor" was not a "happy camper". The Sheriff's deputies were called and he settled down real fast. I kept my distance in case something went down but everything was peaceful and the troublemakers left quietly. Sheesh! 🙄 We had a wonderful time and always look forward to returning to camp there. They are a great couple.

He and his wife were both angry that I asked them to move the pickup while they were having lunch.

First, I just loved watching Sage in the background the whole video having such a wonderful time in nature.She is doing so well, Praise The Father. Maybe Write these things down that happen in your park. You may wish to put them together in a book one day, Maybe call it, "RV Park Karen's." John is right about ladies bathrooms. When traveling, they are horrific and I would rather use the men's or as John does, use nature. I have learned to carry a She-Wee with me everywhere, just in case. I mark my territory also where I live now, in the woods....lol. Keeps certain animals away from my garden. Wise to do background checks since you are a members only. Even then. a bad apple will slip through. Just got to nip them in the bud straight way. Give their membership back and send then on their way for the safety of all the rest. It's just business! One cannot let friendship and business overlap. If you have two that you can completely trust, then you are blessed. What do you mean no personal tours from the two of you? Don't you guys just sit waiting for someone to ask? (Much sarcasm). I know there are those who feel as if they know you personally from watching your videos because you guys are straight up and open about your lives. These things come along with dealing with the general public. Everyone has their own ideas about things. Just Common respect , but some have no clue what that is. Everything you have covered was necessary. Boundaries and rules always need to be in place. May the Most High bless you guys and your park for helping those from Florida. Be Blessed!

Always good to be reminded that there are rules and why. It's also good when the rules are enforced. We have a campground near our office that we use often because of the shorter commute to work. We were just there last week for 9 days while working on year end at work. This is a pricy resort so I expect the rules to be enforced, however they are not. It's very frustrating when you pay that much money to stay at a nice resort. Also, as Odd Squad members, we should go above and beyond what is expected no mater where we are!! Our desire should be to make a difference in a broken world and that starts with us being examples of excellence in everything that we do! And yes I fail often, but it is still my desire. You are absolutely right Mercedes. As for etiquette, some people get it naturally, some don't, and some doesn't care. You need rules for the 1% who don't get it. The other 99% will approve you because they want to enjoy their stay. In any group of people, any community, any campground, there must be rules (rules that make sense of course) to ensure that everybody could enjoy the level of freedom they need to be happy in a community. Rules are like putting oil on a squeaky gear. The gear and the machine sound better, it perform better and the gear will last longer. Long life to your campground and thanks for those very inspiring videos.

What you've gone through is definitely a learning experience and now you can put the brakes on for anything that comes up in the future before something dangerous happens. I also think when you do your background checks you should have a questionnaire that you give the future camper that asks how long have you been a RVer, do you know how to set up your trailer, have you gone through any type of training for driving or backing up your RV? I have a very good friend who repairs Airstreams in California and he will go through all of this before you buy your trailer from him because he comes up with some used ones once in awhile. Backing up an RV is a work of art! Everything you do is backwards from what you normally back up your vehicle. Some people just don't get it! I'm glad that you require a membership and I wish I could join but I don't see us ever traveling that far from California to enjoy your little national park. Thanks for all you do and I enjoy your videos every Sunday bless you and the family and all the chickens and all the cows, Amen.

OK, so our worst campground issue. We stayed at a park that did not allow dogs to by tied up outside without their owner outside with them. They guy next to us tied his 80lbs dog and left her every morning at 0600. Of course she barked and woke the entire section of the grounds. That is not the bad part. The leash was long enogh for his dog to make her way over to our 5th wheel, by the water bay. Well she pooped right beside it and he did not clean it up. Two days later we are getting ready to leave and Clay steps in it. He is rather calm normally, but i though he was going to blow a gasket. He is still mad to this day about it. So if you ever see him, dont ask about Chelsy (the neighbor's dog)

LoL. I'm going to show up with a super loud diesel truck pulling a 50 footer at 3:30 am and then leave my truck running for a couple of hours while I make all sorts of noise pulling chains and metal objects out of the bed of the truck and then yell at the kids while my wife yells out giving directions on backing up the rig. - should be done by daylight. Oh yea, when I blow my train horn - that means I can't see you.

An adult pooping behind a tree is a health & safety violation. Your campground could get shut down for that. I understand you are a member only campground. That person should be asked to clean it up, asked to leave & have their membership revoked. You are within your rights to do so. You have a stream on site & water contamination is a real issue.

So true! I belong to a members campground in the San Antonio hill country and we do background checks on everyone. That’s part of their membership fees. Also, we’ve built compacted mounds of dirt as speed bumps to keep the speed down in vehicles and golf carts.

Great video! We have experienced about half of these things in our part time RVing. By the way, it is wonderful that Sage can enjoy the outdoors like she was doing in the background. I do find it interesting that many of the restrictions on things in our the country are upsetting to some odd-squaders but rules to keep Thunder Canyon safe, fun and functioning well are okay.

Funny thing about speed, John. I'm sure RV's can drive that slowly. But one year I was driving behind a parade as the "sweep car". In first geat at IDLE the car made well over 5mph. So I had to constantly hit the clutch, or glaze the brakes, just to prevent running over the parade members. Drivers in cars? 2-1/2 mph may just be asking too much.

Sometimes a change in perspective can bring enlightenment. Agree with everything you talked about. One peeve of mine is not so much the “non-flushers”, but, the “cloggers” who flush and walk away with the commode full up to the brim, leaving it to the next person to plunge it (if a plunger is available) in order to relieve oneself.

I completely agree that background checks are a very good idea. Because you have a bit of “celebrity” status, you are more vulnerable. People have gotten crazier in general & those who have bad intentions seem to have increased. If anyone has a problem with that, they should be the first ones to be denied. Stay safe. Keep your members safe. The kind of people you want as members will completely understand & agree.

Updated: I just happened to see your channel, and others similar channels recently, and I think that you, and others sharing their actual reality, and some have expressed some of the up, and down sides to van, RV, or vehicle living. I believe that it is very helpful, and beneficial to others who may be thinking about this type of living without actually thinking through, about the some of the realistic problems that could occur with vehicle or van living etc. People need to know what up sides there are, as well as some of the down sides of vehicle living. I believe this channel, and other channels have been informative to others, including myself. Although, I am NOT living in a vehicle or anything like this. I feel that you , and others KZbinrs sharing this with your viewers will be very helpful. I wish you ALL the Best with your traveling endeavors. I shared this with another traveler as I watched their KZbin channel for the first time, as yours, and I shared with them this information that may be helpful to you as well to others. Therefore, I would also like to suggest a few Safety tips, and items that may help you, or others in your viewing audience. Although, you may have knowledge of this already, I am not sure, so I hope this will be helpful to you, others or someone. *Keep a Extra working cellphone with you or in your vehicle. You can purchase inexpensive phone with a very low monthly price between 25, 35, 45, dollars a month with unlimited data and text, and some have Nationwide coverage Do your research for the best fit for you Carry Several Extra portable phone chargers, and cables. Consider theses items: *Mini portable power charging station. I have also seen outdoor portable solar powered power stations, that can be recharged from sunlight this may be very useful to have, to power your devices. *Cellular signal booster for outdoor use, and camping situations to boost or amplify your cell reception, Research to see what you prefer. *Very Inportant: Invest in a SOS distress electronic signal device, this a kind of device can send out a distress signal with your exact location. There are various types of these devices, and including devices that can be used when boating or camping situations. *Some have emergency Strobe lights SOS signaling with location alerts, and location updates that can be sent to your family, and emergency first responders. Some can be synchronized with your smart watch or phone. You can check online, and on Amazon, research what SOS devices will be a good fit for you. *Mini portable vehicle battery jumper charger *vehicle battery jumper cables *Vehicle Jumper cables *Keep a Fire extinguisher handy *Mounted Dashboard camera front and rear possibly. Exterior vehicle cameras Interior vehicle cameras *Flashlights or pluggin spotlights *Portable spotlights, and lanterns Keep a few whistles around with you, and in your vehicle possibly in your vehicle’s center console *A set of long range 2 way radios, walkie talkies, with others during trips, some have 100 mile radius keep for emergencies. Use your own discretion regarding the use of any weapons. Don’t forget to bring Bear Spray Pepper spray Where is allowed Keep in contact with your family, friends etc. Although, I just noticed your KZbin channel, and other similar channels. You seem Very Aware of your surroundings and Alert, and you may be aware of many of these suggestions, however, I Don’t know, so I just posted this anyway to help anyone who may benefit from these suggestions. Keep up with the latest Weather Updates, beware and prepare for unexpected Weather events and conditions. Keep your vehicle gas filled Don’t chance your Safety by running your vehicle fuel or gas too close to Empty. Fill it up anyway, it will save you alot of time, and headache later on. Keep Extra financing, and savings for any unexpected issues, vehicle repairs, and overnight stays, in a emergency or if you need to rest indoors. Keep Enjoying Yourself, Keep Enjoying the outdoors, and Nature Just..Please continue to Be Positive, Safe, and Alert.. Wishing Success, Well-being and Happiness You All. I loved the rant...totally agree! Some people have no common sense, no respect for others. I am a retired commercial truck driver, I completely agree on the 50% that do not know how to drive an RV, I've seen them going down the road and always wonder did you take a class, there are no classes that I know of. It took me 4 weeks to learn to drive a tractor and pull a 53' foot trailer! There needs to be a class for sure. I hope one day my hubby and I can visit and promise to make a reservation first. I think at a certain length, that a tailor owner should take a CDL class. Most RVs or trailers don't have air braks, but all need to know braking facts! I too was a semi diver, OTR easy coast to west coast. Loved driving, but like you said..you can always tell who was new with the biggest trailer in back of them...scary and dangerous!!
@thiamata53462 жыл бұрын
@@paulathomason1021 very scary. I've seen people pull a long RV trailer with their big pickup truck, then they have a boat behind the trailer. I've never pulled doubles or triples and they sway if your not paying attention, but to see a regular person pulling 2 or 3 items how in the world does DOT even allow that? There is a bridge weight to be concerned about plus I believe it might be illegal to pull an RV and a boat and another trailer. I've seen this, it's crazy without proper training and licensing.

I manage a campground in a private conservation-minded outdoor recreation park. We do background checks on all our members and their spouses/significant others. We also have a clause in the by-laws that states members are to "be of good character" which allows us a lot of leeway when it comes to rescinding membership when necessary. Being a private membership park allows you to keep and cater to the members you want and get rid of those who are not willing to uphold the rules and guidelines of the park.

@@RVOddCouple Hummmm the more i read in the comments, the more i see common sense being replaced with PC. 😔 WWJD? 😳 A while back i asked about there being area for tent campers. I've camped over 2/3rds of my 60+ yrs from tents, being homeless to nomading across the the USA when house burned down & have also owned a 5th wheel and two vintage RVs (a Class A & Class C). Every type of camp setup there have been others that who make goofy assumptions on who we are based on the type of camp setup and i will yell you with campgrounds, it's not much different than the sticks & bricks lifestyle. What's silly is everything i have ever owned is paid for & those in debt & play the bankruptcy game to look like they have it all is mind boggling to me. Sadly, those that are into wordly appearances are the worst at decoding a persons integrity. Won't find that in a background check! I hope you pray about your concerns and come up with some common sense solutions. Maybe look at the problems with HOA & ROAs before jumpimg to a COA (Camp Owners Association). JMHO.

What I wouldn't give to be at Thunder Canyon right now ! I came to Washington State if you remember me stating for my wife could spend time with her family. Well since that time while driving down the road something seemed to come up into the engine area and break several of my side fan blades. The person towing my Class A 43' motorhome did not disconnect the drive shift or pull the wheel rods. Tiffin, Allision, and Freight liner all told me that the Transmission was toast , or wasted. I had the motorhome carried to an Allision Trans repair place and for $1400 the informed me that their wasn't any problems with the transmission. I have tried for over 10 days to get my insurance company to go pick you my motorhome to carry it to Cummings Engine. Yesterday the insurance company told me that the Transmission place was charging my insurance company $3500 for 10 days of storage. On top of this I have been paying 100 to 125 dollars a day to stay in a motel everyday. I purchased a Thousands Trail membership the best you get get so that I could save money per month but seems I can't even stay in my own motorhome for now. Maybe some day things will get better for me and my wife. Please say a prayer for me and my wife. Be thankful of what you do have home and friends is worth more than gold or to me it is. God Bless you all.
