Barking dogs is another problem. I've been at RV parks when the dog owner is not at the RV, and the dog barks literally for hours. What's even worse is when the dog owners are at the RV, and their dogs regularly bark and the owners do nothing to stop it.

We put the tv, lights on and close the blinds when we have to leave Tucker alone in the RV. There's no excuse for dog owners to allow this to happen when their in the RV. Just need to use some common sense. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and enjoy your travels.

100% and then some. Most times I see the little yappy things going off constantly, even with the owners sitting right there and they do nothing to stop it. The last thing I want to hear are dogs barking non stop or all the time at nothing. I have a dog that travels with me, but she is under control at all times, and on leash. If my girl barks there is a reason, and if not, that gets shut down immediately. I also have massive issues with those neighbors that have those smaller dogs and they are not contained or on a seriously long line and seem to always want to run up on MY dog, who is not small by the way. I really do not understand what happens to people when they travel... many become completely different and have NO compassion for anyone else.

@@oureverydaygetaway Likewise. I travel for work contracts which means I'm in a place for extended amounts of time, so my girl is in the home when I'm at work. Like you, I have the tv on for background noise as well as a video system that lets me peek in on her, while I'm at work to make sure she is behaving herself. I also let the camp hosts know that if they get any complaints about my dog barking unreasonably, they are welcome to call or text me and I will do my best to find an alternative remedy. for the security of other people and to avoid any problems, I do have a 3 foot tall portable security fence that surrounds my rv. Not only does it keep my dog contained when I'm sitting outside (she's never out without me), but it keeps other people's dogs from entering and causing problems as well as a way to keep other people out of my area. My girl is a protection trained GSD, so her breed alone can cause cause people to unfairly judge, so I go the extra mile to make sure that she is the best canine good citizen in the area.

​@@oureverydaygetaway newbie here, wife and I are starting to look for a Class A, but we have already decided that when we leave we will also have 2 interior cameras with mics and speakers so that we can turn on motion sensor to receive alerts if we are gone from the rig. They are laid back ankle biters, but if someone were to knock on the door or walk near the rig, they probably would start barking so also thinking of a ring camera onside too. Last thing we want is for our fur-babies to disrupt someone else's vacation or relaxation.

I like Rule #1 the best: let people make a mistake! That is definitely a great learning experience. It's also important to not embarrass someone for making a mistake. Equipment damage and personal injury would be the only reason to politely say something. 🙂 I'm a relative newbie, and that is what I would appreciate. Great etiquette tips; thank you!

Loved this clip. A potential solution for CPap machine overnight is a Jackery battery. Explorer 240 works great when boondocking. As for pet peeves let’s discuss remote control cars (!!!) if you want to play with them, find an area away from other campsites. No one wants to hear the “Reeeeeeeeeeeeee” of your toys. Keep up the interesting discussions!

Washing out your sewer hose on top of the picnic table is number one on our list. We got extremely sick on a camping trip from this. It is amazing when you watch how common it is. Always disinfect the table and put a tablecloth on it. You never know what the campers before you washed on that table.

Wouldn’t it be nice if some of these were posted? I see issues more in places where they have cabins. Typically those folks are unaware of these unspoken rules or etiquette camping steps. I also don’t understand when those people park in a spot backwards, meaning door side on utility side. That is just weird. I know and have seen where sites are set up that way, but if not, follow the pattern. I think the thing that bothers me the most is walking through my site, which I refer to as my yard! If you want to boondock then you should have solar and adequate battery storage. Otherwise, it ruins a big part of why people boondock which is peace and quiet

great tips guys!! looking at your attire you apparently not in Durango CO!! our first trip at a campground me and my wife were headed to the showers and walked thru a guy's camping spot in the dark and he let us know about it!! it pays to look at the campground map and not shortcut thru someone's place. the next day he apologized and thought he was being ripped off again. after that we ended up friends but what a bad bad start. stay safe and warm.

I really enjoyed this. I could argue both sides of the coin with the generator. While I don’t have a massive American RV, I do have a custom built bush trailer. And yes, it has Aircon. I have so many people with tents complain about the Aircon fan running. It’s doesn’t stop me. And guess what, if you invite one to stay over. Guaranteed they’re the one turning the Aircon on… 😂✌🏻🇿🇦

100% right with the excessive lights on all night. This has gotten so bad that I've installed the dark ceramic tint on all our bedroom windows on our RV. Some RVs are so bright that they light up the interior of your RV to the point you could read by it while sitting at your dinette or sofa.

A lot of people have this same problem. Not sure why others don’t understand why they should turn them off at least at quiet hours.

Another one you didn't mention is don't arrive at the campsite and set up late at night when everyone in the campground is sleeping. Just wait until the morning when there's daylight and you don't wake everyone up. Also, we did a whoopsie with our outdoor speakers once, we didn't know they were on and we watched a 2 hour movie inside with the inside speakers volume loud because we could hardly hear it. I didn't realize it until after the movie, when I took the dogs out before bed and I heard the TV playing on the outside speakers - I was so embarrassed! :o)

I have also had issues in the larger RV parks where people will walk dogs behind a row of RV's and then are surprised when dogs that are tethered in campsites start barking. The people would actually stop and gawk at our and other campsites between two rows of back in sites.

For generators, there are times you will need to run them, however, if you know you need things like a CPAP machine over night or have to run your AC, you should be planning for that during the day and charging, or have adequate batteries/solar to get you through the night. There are times in which unforseen things happen, like perhaps a heat wave where the temps are 112 F and you need AC through the night. I can see those. But I think both of you are right. You shouldnt run them during quiet hours and you should do everything in your power to plan for the power usage over night. But things happen. I think most campers understand that, especially full timers

I don't like people running generators at night. We go to campgrounds for peace and quiet. You can get a 12v adapter for CPAP machines so you can run them on battery.

Speaking of dog grooming on picnic tables, I always wash/sanitize my picnic table upon arrival. At one campground a few years ago, a neighbor was staging his sewer hoses on the picnic table at the empty site between his site and ours.

Great tips. For me, because I am very sensitive to airborne chemicals, and they give me asthma, my number one peeve is campfires. Don't get me wrong, I understand that campfires are part of the joys of camping, but some people will literally burn wood from the time they get up to the time they go to bed... I doubt that anyone camps without other cooking alternatives these days. Also, ensure that you burn wood safely and use proper wood for burning, to minimize the amount of smoke generated. In some circumstances, the smoke can blow directly into someone's campsite, filling the entire RV with smoke and carbon monoxide.... The most hair raising experience concerning campfires occurred to me just last week, when the camper on the lot next to ours decided squirt fuel right into his already lit campfire to boost the flames. I mean if you want to set the entire campground on fire, that we be the best way to do it!

A good friend of ours has allergies to certain types of trees so burning a campfire near her can cause problems. I totally agree you should NOT add lighter fluid or gasoline to a fire. We know a young lady that almost died due to burns she received from someone adding gasoline to a campfire. Take care and enjoy your travels. 😊

I always love to watch and give people time to bring out their kitchens, plastic flamingos, outdoor rug, their toys. Good entertainment. Edit: Exception: I have no problem with people running a generator at any time in dispersed camping when people are at least 200 feet away.

All great tips. If you ask most people will turn off their outside lights if you ask them I have mine on a timer. I have on Sunday at noon with 5 or more people in line is not time to flush your black tank. Thanks From Wisconsin

Thanks for the video!! You know we have owned just about every RV out there. Started with a Trailer, went to a Lance camper, Fifth Wheel, to a bus as we called our Class A, then another trailer and now a Class B. Everyone always try’s to help…no one try’s to help in the Class B 🤣🤣🤷‍♀️. You can walk through my site, I don’t know if you’ll want to with my Belgian Malinous, yep she is very protective!! Walk through at your own risk 😂. Anyway my only unwritten rule about watching KZbin videos is: If they aren’t at least 10 minutes long I’ll watch but no thumbs up. You have to put in at least 10 minutes. Stay Safe!! 👍 PS. Hey I have short term rentals surrounding me big problem in our Mountain town. Flat landers do not understand the concept of leashes nor do they understand they are in the mountains with wildlife!!! Yep I agree sometimes you can’t fix stupid!!

We have talked recently about how does someone know what kind of rv is best for them. We may have chosen a Fifth Wheel had we driven in one before our class A or even a class B. No thank you we will not be walking through your site. 😂 We did a few shorts but realized they weren't for us. We much prefer the long form where we can actually get to know the people. Maybe a few shorts here and there. One of my biggest fears is the wildlife especially when it come to Tucker. 100% agree!! Take care and thanks for watching!

I use a walker and have a well behaved service dog. Last year when we were camping, three dogs ran out to get to my dog. I was irritated but my husband was smoking mad, because they could have made me fall. This same man always walked through our site to get to the bathhouse.😮

Respectfully Chris, it is proper etiquette to not run a generator during quiet hours. Glad the people running their generator don't bother YOU, but... On the empathy side of the coin, my GF and I were out dry camping last weekend. It was 20F when the sun went down. We had plenty of propane and our furnace worked. However, someone else was also dry camping 200m away and they ran their loud generator all night long. The fact that they were so inconsiderate to others was more annoying than the actual noise; but, we didn't know why, and it was chilly, so, let's cut them some slack... but still, normally very bad etiquette.

Bob and I have a system also. I'm the heavy with back off bub. We are courteous parkers lol. The guy in Florida was his name Klaus lol. We absolutely hate it when people walk through our campsite or allow their kids to run through or people walking their dogs right through it or doing the business in your site. Tru dat on the fire pits. You should get one cuz you want to keep up with HetteshWorld lol we love ours. The rope lights are a easy fix You just kind of tap one corner with your foot when you're walking by and then that gets rid of them right away. They don't work no more lol. Chris is always right lol. Out west. It's like a thing to never have your dog on a leash or to have a pack of dogs at your campsite growling and fighting with each other. Very strange. 100% agree with your number one pet pee. The big thing is also picking up the poo but do not want to pick up their poo out here. That would be ours as well. Another great video! Thank you guys so much!

I agree with all your etiquette points. The dog grooming one is one I have not heard before but whole heartedly agree. I do think it is a little sad that it is necessary to make a video on etiquette as it should be common sense but that seems to be in short supply these days. Quiet hours should be from 8pm to 8am and generators should not be allowed at that time. During non-quiet hours then people need understand and not complain but it is still good manners to minimize your generator usage to when it will bother others the least. If you need it to run AC then you shouldn't be camping with no hook-ups where you need AC. OK I will get off of my soap box now .

The noise of a generator doesn't bother me, except the cheap loud gas generators some people use. I've spent way too many years in the entertainment industry parked next to entertainer coaches and the loud generators that they have, that hardly any genny noise bothers me except the one I stated above. Enjoy watching your videos, hopefully the wife and I will be getting a class A soon as she recoups after her 2 nd back surgery, and she is able to get around.

Most of your list is absolutely reasonable, while the rest would depend on whether it's an RV park, or a typical forest campground where less well off working folks go on their yearly vacation. If you need peace and quiet, "lights out at 10pm sharp" kind of 'camping', stick to the RV parks, or be prepared to be referred to by "Ken & Karen". 🍺

There are but the time of year we were there it was too cold for the AC and too hot for the heater so leaving the windows open was the best way to go.

The campground wave. It’s different than the city wave and it’s very important. When you see someone that drives by you or you drive by them or walk close to their spot you give them a wave. But it’s a very specific wave and I have seen it my whole life camping. You put your hand up with all fingers extended, they will do the same then you close your fingers into a fist and bring your hand back. Have only EVER seen this or done this at camp sights. There is something behind it and a very respectful camping hello to fellow campers.

What are your thoughts when running generator and the exhaust is blowing in your patio where you can’t even sit at your own picnic table our enjoy you patio for the fumes? I’ve had this happen EVERY TIME we’ve camped the last three times

Sorry to hear you had to deal with that. We have friends that use a devise that funnels the fumes up and away from the rv's in the area. Looking into purchasing one as well. I personally would feel bad if our generator fumes were bothering our neighbors. Stay safe and enjoy your travels.

well far as generator goes... i bought one for a reason, not just sit there and stare at it while i sit there in the dark. i may have a tv to watch and microwave to use... late night movie and snacks. but really these days if you use that much power at night, there are plenty of both built in to rv and portable solar power options that cost no more than an actual generator anyway... or maybe a bit more depending what type, brand, etc. or you can just go get a milk crate, put a couple of agm or such batteries in it, buy solar controller, panels, and an inverter along with a few cables and just build one for 200 bucks that will take care of many needs... not big enough, another milk crate, couple more batteries, another 100 or so bucks. (i did exactly this, using all cheap harbor freight parts, other sources will cost more).... will certainly cover the last few hours between quiet time and bed time if nothing else.... you wont be running your a/c off it.... but it will keep the fridge on, the tv on.

To further emphasize #10, even if your dog is extremely well behaved, if he/she is off the leash, most other leashed dogs nearby will automatically become defensive because they're restricted in their movement while a possible threat (your dog) is not. This is why it's also not a good idea to keep your dog leashed in a dog park with other unleashed dogs around.

Also parked their rig so the awning opened into our site blocking us from backing all the way into our site. And used the fire ring for a trash dump to burn. They were on their third camping trip with their new rig. They don't know or don't care. Fortunately, This was the worst one we had.

I have always had a problem with your # 10. Lazy people just don't care about any one but them selves. We use to live in a 55+ and it was never informed. Now we live in our Fifth wheel. Right now we are in rock Crusher resort. In FL. Owned by sun. For us very expensive. But # 10 is pretty good here. Love watching you.

One you missed. Un guided or watched kids. We were camping with grandkids and others had a few boys between 6 and 9 years old. The grands were wanting to play in the playground and do swings and slides. The boys were digging up dirt and piling it on the swings. The parents were paying no attention at all. The grands gave up and came back. I asked what was wrong. They said the boys lined up and peed on the swings.

Yes! We just returned from a camping trip where two dogs were not leashed and attacked our little 9 lb dog. Thankfully we managed to get him picked up before he was really hurt but it could have been a bad situation!

I wish it wasn’t the case but in our experience, people would rather inconvenience everyone else rather than themselves. And they don’t see it as a problem. I see it mentioned in FB groups often and there’s way too many people telling everyone they need to lighten up and not care what other people are doing. My issue is that if it’s interfering with my experience that I paid for just like everyone else then it IS in fact my concern….so that’s why we prefer to boondock 😅 These are real exchanges I’ve seen. They have an “answer” for everything- Oh you don’t like those bright lights? Well you need to get better curtains. It’s your problem. You don’t like people walking through your site? Lighten up. Everyone’s welcome especially if they bring a beer… You think it’s gross to have the dog and other “gross” things on the table? You DO know that animals are doing worse right? Generator use- we use our generator during the allowed hours. We do only use it as necessary and we got an inverter so it’s more quiet. In general we are considerate and treat others as we would like to be treated regardless of it’s reciprocated. Dogs- we camphosted and constantly had to tell people to put their dogs in leashes. For their safety, animal safety, people safety etc they should always be leashed. Sorry for the novel here 😂

Most... Harvest Host Locations make no mention of whether or not a guest can use their generator. So my question is ...... Is it ok to use your generator at a Harvest Host location? Personally, I do, since most HH locations have amble space between RV's. Oh..... and I have a number 11..... things RV'ers should not do....... Don't walk around the campground naked if its not an clothing optional campground. That's an important one!!!! LOL. Till cocktails, Be Safe and Be Well. GO Red!

Running generator to put slides in/out is not a problem of course. I always ask when checking in if they are allowed for extended other periods....not that I want to do it but to know if it is ok IF my neighbor does it. :) Have experienced both yes and no places.

A generator is NEVER "necessary". CPAP or not it's up to you to plan for your needs. Others are not responsible for your specific individul "needs". If you know generators are not allowed or only allowed during certain hours and you feel you "need" one, then dont go there - period. And your Comfort is NOT a necessity. Again if its too hot for you - dont go there. Your problems are your own and nobody elses - dont make them everyones. As far as dogs go, I have seen a few dogs attack other dogs and one person get badly bitten on the leg walking past a spot where the dog was on a leash too long to keep it within the camp spot . The person thought they were safe walking down the road but the dog was able to reach them. All animals need to be leashed 100% of the time on a leash short enough to contain the animal within the boundaries of your site and that dog still has to be supervised and under control and kept quiet 100% of the time - or just dont bring it. I for one cant stand hot summer garbage cans filled with steaming dog feces stinking up the place let alone having all over the ground to step in.

I 100% agree with your #1. I have dogs, and I am p.o.'d that I no longer can take my pet, on a leash, to national parks etc; because of the --- who wouldn't honor leash and pick up. What the heck happened to leave it better than you found it? I want to hike with my dog, and 90% or more trails are no longer allowing dogs. Oh...and get that propane firepit...your smoke filled hair and clothing will thank you!

Actually, you can. It's called parenting and it starts in infancy and lasts until your kids leave the nest. Kids learn common sense and respect, when you explain things to them and engage them in the important tasks and social functions. But then let's not confuse ignorance and stupidity... Ignorance can be fixed with education, stupidity is when someone refuses to learn ;)

Kids! I was in a common area hammock and two kids kept talking to me...love kids, but not when Im trying to relax in a hammock on vacation. I do not want to entertain your kids. If they're off your campsite then they should be watched, or at the very least not be harassing other campers in common areas.

We aren't dog owners but we like dogs. We are snowbirds and spend the winter in a Florida park. The number one problem we see time and again are dogs. People go for the day and leave the dog in the rv and it barks all day. Or they have expandable leash and the dog runs up and jumps on you or it's outside with the owner and barks at everyone who passes and the owner ignore it or they don't pick up poop. Everyone doesn't like dogs and some people are afraid of them. Please be considerate. Common sense is not that common 🙄
