Yeah, I've often played Tales Of Vesperia with all A.I. characters ever since it came out in '08, especially when grinding. There are other games that have similar and even more expanded autopilot features, particularly RPGs and such. And of course the bot mode in L4D which he mentions. When Jerma was talking about Food Mode, I instantly thought about RDR2. You can place a marker on the map, and then let your character ride there on a horse by themselves. It's not fast travel, you literaly just look at the AI taking over the controls and riding the horse to the marker in real time. I really like that you can do that, and I would love it if other games would have something similar. So yeah, I support Jerma's "Food Mode"

Jerma's second version of "food mode" would be kind of nice actually. I can imagine where you set up a campfire or something and your character/companions tell stories and play music, maybe some funny little scenes happen. After major plot points the characters could discuss their thoughts about it. Could even be a neat way to include some background lore about the game world. Definitely not for everyone but if done well it could be both comfy and immersive, especially when you want to take a short break (like to eat for example).

Could have it so they do things like the camera slowly spins to face landmarks or nice views, or you can read lore entries otw. When I was growing weed I had an xbox 360 in the closet with my plants and basically for a couple hours every night I'd leave an endless game of Black Ops 2 going with bots on both teams, reason being it was too cold for the plants to survive with the light off, also helped ventilation a bit. Sometimes I would just watch the bots go at each other and join in for a few minutes. I guess the point I'm trying to make is food mode is also technically weed mode. Yet when we humans go weed mode our bodies go food mode, curious indeed.

There's something to this. In Wind waker, you had to manually route your boat around even when there was nothing interesting to see or do. In phatom hourglass, you could draw a route for your ship to take, and spend your time panning the camera around, looking for things to shoot with your cannon or finding islands to explorer. Just having more sections like this where you can explore, scan your surroundings carefully and eliminate enemies using a single joy-con to pan the camera around, shoot, interact, or just tell your character rudimentary things to do is something you could enjoy while eating or filling out boring paperwork with the other hand. It's definitely a different type of gameplay that could make non-social eating situations less boring and potentially even give social eating situations another fun dynamic.

Actually they have something like this in Red Dead Redemption its called cinematic mode where you put a point on the map, start riding, press a button, and your horse rides there by itself. Since there is so much traveling in that game its very useful and its especially good for those like me who have joint problems in their hands and cant press x for ten minutes. That being said its killed me a couple times by taking my horse off cliffs before but that was only a couple times lol.

@Stan Brule that's not all, i mean mostly yes but a core feature is the ability to make choices affecting the story. Then when you finish a route you go do the other routes. These are the only parts that really require input, since there is "auto mode" that scrolls the text for you at a speed of your choice. So you can have both hands free for eating (...or zerking off). It's like reading a book without having to conjure imagery from your imagination for every little thing. I am guessing you haven't tried VNs but i recommend you do, they can be surprisingly fun for how simple they are.
