In my opinion this is the best interpretation by far amongst many great musicians on here. He keeps the rhythm flowing and adds darkness and colour in all the right places. Amazing artist. Love how he uses thumb and index together.

A perfect version of Rodrigo's Passacaglia. Perfectly balanced, perfectly executed, perfectly intepretated. Really great phrasing and finally, a technique wich is voted to the same interpretation.

This is by far my favourite interpretation of this piece. It wasnt the first one i have seen and didnt like the piece, but once i heard this it just clicked in my brain and its beatiful. Its a shame it doesn't have better audio quality

How is ducharme not more famous...I feel like he should be held in the same light as tennant,russel and yamashita but he isnt very well known at all....fantastic musician...a real treat it is to watch this concert all the way threw.

¡¡Realmente grande, Jerome Ducharme!! :)

There are really 5 people that disliked this video? How stupid..... I still only dream of playing like this. I think this interpretation is amazing.

I wonder how he did that strokes (during 2:40-2:58). Can anybody help me to tell what his fingers did during that time? (you can use 'D' for downstroke, 'U' for upstroke, and 'p i m a' as usual)

Anyone know the fingering he uses (or one that can be used) for the counterpoint ending - 3:50 onwards? is it just p-i-p-i for the quick groups of four and then work the other fingers around that? No sneaky upstrokes with the thumb or anything? I know the notes to play just not how to do it....cheers!

Why so many dissonances? Why does harmony authorize them?

I would encourage all of you who love this rendition to hear the Julian Bream recording of the same piece. I believe that Bream seems to have a much better emotional "feel" for the music....

@delt01 There are good players who make strange faces and those who don't . I find that those who make strange faces are more in touch with what they are playing? Is that true?

Well, I see this is old, but I figure I might as well throw my two cents in! I have a friend who plays this piece, and I find it really depends on the interpretation. He brings the bass out a lot more (ironically, since his guitar has the best trebles on the planet) and just interprets it a bit more to my liking, and I think it is one of the greatest things out there. I think interpretation plays a bigger role in this one than the others, and it's hard to interpret well.

People who cough like that at the most sensitive and vulnerable moments of a performance, have no place in the audience and should be thrown out.

Definitely a brilliantly composed piece. What i meant was out of the three its my least fav. Its just a matter of preference....and as acadusle said this piece is ridiculously hard to play. I've never come across a Rodrigo piece that wasn't hard to play.
@toxtethogrady934312 жыл бұрын
I hate to be negative - especially about any guitarist who has such a great technique I play this piece regularly - it is a wonderful work and the jewel of Tres Pieces Espangolas. There are rich sonorities in the piece which are lost in this reading - the counterpoint of the fugue at the end is all but lost. Why must all modern guitarists play everything "molto allegro"? There's plenty of time for that in the Zapateado!! More musicianship, be an individual! Sorry M Ducharme.
@jeromeducharme26712 жыл бұрын
According to the score, the composer asks for 84 bpm, the same as the fandango.

i think some people just cough to show that they are awkward to be in such a place it is ok to have physical need in such an occasion,but to cough with such a big voice is just fucking impolite
@GuitaristConnor14 жыл бұрын
You gotta love the extra loud cough at the beginning...the most important part of a passacaglia... :(((
@rhoadsofoz15 жыл бұрын
This guy is the real Deal! I don't really like this piece, personally i think its the weakest of the 3 (Zapateado, and Fandango being the other 2) but hey when playing a suite or 3 part movement you're not always going to like every movement...well unless i'm playing Bach BWV1006 Emajor every dance in that suite is amazing
