Having a coach that will go out on the course with you is so priceless and powerful. None of the ones in my city will do this, which is sad. A person can learn and generally do a lot better at the range, but it ALWAYS seems to be different once you take it to the course. So keep your head up and just keep working on what Chris is telling you and you will see results soon.

I know a lot of people will want to point out your mistakes and flaws a lot when they watch your videos, but you should also remember how much better you have gotten since you started. Also your putting was very impressive. You could hear how impressed Chris was with your putting too.

@jeffreylawrence9172 Жыл бұрын
Hold up. This is competition on a different level. I never wished for my friends to make putts. That was the whole reasoning for being out there. Its different if I didn't have any skin in the game or they played someone else, then we enjoyed they beat some one. I'm not cheering if I'm placed in a strange foursome at some course but I'm keeping mind and my son's score for a reason. And Four means everybody ducks and every person for themselves.

Lots of good takes from this. One of the biggest is how many ‘misses’ Chris had but was still able to string together a -2 round. Also, I doubt Chris is a scratch golfer, he is probably a plus handicap, meaning he is much better than scratch. It’s was fun watching you guys on course!
@JeromeRufin Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah haha he usually hits below par all the time. I personally thought a “scratch golfer” is someone that’s a 0 or below 0 handicap ? But I may be wrong 😬
@Not.Satoshi Жыл бұрын
@@JeromeRufin yes, a scratch handicap is equivalent to a ‘0’ but handicaps are calculated to reveal your potential, not your average. Most scratch golfers are shooting usually around 1-4 over par with some rounds even or -1 or -2. It also depends on the courses and tees your playing from as they all have different difficulty ratings. But the Hcp doesn’t stop at 0. PGA pros are estimated to be around +5 to +8. John Rahm at his peak was estimated at +12!
@bbg147 Жыл бұрын
@@JeromeRufin the term scratch doesnt really mean anything officially , it's common use can be as you assumed par or better or it can mean someone who is an exactly 0 handicap (which is pretty much no one) when you consider handicaps are to one decimal place.
@bbg147 Жыл бұрын
Also technically as a pro Chris doesn't even have a handicap😅
@Not.Satoshi Жыл бұрын
@@bbg147 this is correct. I was trying not to type a whole essay on handicap. 😮💨 I was really just trying to give Jerome a realistic perspective of what his goal of scratch looks like because I think his idea of a scratch golfer has been PGAT level.

I agree with everyone that you're further along than most and more than I was 3 months in. As with most, I never took a lesson and became self taught from EVERYBODY and Golf Channel in mid 90s on. I bent my needs like I was sitting down and wondered why, as a leftie, my shots went left 75% of the time. I learned to standup. Get your tee box Alignment. You hit a shot on pt2, 4th hole, feet aligned left. Then you hit a perfect shot aligned right but you always say "club face was opened" and most times its not. Use an alignment stick in practice every time and tee box for the next few weeks. As Chris said, you align left and swing towards target and then hit a cut. I used my club handle in the tee box to align my body by holding the club with arms hanging straight down, handle towards target\direction. You can check by laying the club in front of your toes and see if your toes are going in the correction first, then you'll know if its a real cut or draw. Alignment will cause shot to be off from 1 to 50 yards. I also believe your standing up to quickly after your shot causing "topping". Keep the same shoulder angle down and through the ball and then straighten up. Its hard going from a mat to different grass depth, so you have to exaggerate staying down and through. I know its a lot, but I'm interested in seeing you hit consistent high Irons and Driver.

with regards to the open face, some of the tips that helped me, was to imagine your holding a steering wheel at setup, as you do your takeaway, that steering wheel should feel like your slightly turning left, right up till first parallel, then it should feel like your holding it in its position of slightly turned left, right up to top of backswing, give that feeling a go 👍

Jerome can you explain what exactly Chris wants, and what you are looking at when you take the club away to paralell with the ground, and then stop?
@mhuy5820 Жыл бұрын
It almost feels like your swing was better last week Jerome. I think you're so focused on ur backswing rather than making solid contact on the ball. On your practice swings & real swing, you look back at the club on the takeaway/backswing to make sure that your swing path is correct. But doing this causes your head to move and dip on the back swing and causes you to chunk the ball. Your backswing and your swing path will come naturally and I think your swing thoughts shound be focused on making good contact, rotating your hips through the ball and holding your finish! Goodluck on the rest of your journey bud :D

I noticed with Chris' swing it looks different in a good way! But he swings his arms more behind his hips maybe something to think about when you are getting ready to swing! Keep at it Jerome!

Nothing worse in golf than being halfway around the course and you suddenly realise how actually tired you are after the days events. Tough to keep going when all you wanna do is go home, chill and then get some sleep. Then you gotta hit the range again to sort out your swing. Golf is so mental and draining at times. Promise you it gets easier though and then your back on a high wanting more.

You have a ton of things going through your mind, that’s one reason why you tired out and you can see on the back nine it’s like you’re lost mentally(information overload) plus golfing with a great golfer makes you put way too much un needed pressure on yourself. Chris was great and showed great patience with you. Keep up with the progress and maybe do a couple of shots(alcohol) before your next 9.

im not a pro like chris or anything but if your clubface is open imo ur not using ur hands properly. they need to be wringing a towel (working opposite of each other) throughout the swing. from there you just throw the clubhead. out to in for a fade. and in to out for a draw.
