Note that he never said "Will Smith", "Chris Rock", "Oscars", or "slap". And, how he so effortlessly segues into his own story, and ties it up so well at the end. This was one of the most sharply performed AND written comedy monologues on SNL in recent memory. And he was also great in the skits! No, I didn't know who he was until a few days ago, LOL. But I am so impressed with this guy. I'm gonna watch his special tonight.

I always pictured him being a writer on SNL that sometimes appears on-camera on Weekend Update, but gets promoted to cast member either because one of the main cast members left/got fired or because of positive feedback. Or he could have been one of those comedians who auditioned for SNL and didn't make it, like Jim Carrey, Aubrey Plaza, Donald Glover, Jordan Peele, the cast of "Fridays", the cast of "Kids in the Hall", even some celebrities who probably wouldn't have been a good fit, like Sandra Bernhardt, Kathy Najimy, Bill Maher, and Lisa Kudrow.

I had no idea who Jerrod Charmichael was until this appearance. He absolutely killed in every skit. He approached his host duties like a job, and not a stunt or promotional gig. There were no unforced errors, no obvious cue card reading, and it just seemed there was excellent collaboration with the writers. The doll bit was the funniest SNL skit I had seen in a long time.

This was a stunningly well done monologue. Ive seen a lot of monologues come and go and this is the one that stands out. It wasnt a particularly easy one to do either. I kept waiting for him to stumble on the material and get derailed, and it was like he was born to do this. If SNL doesnt bring this guy back to do another show, thats ALL ON SNL.

He's so smooth at delivering his lines and even his mannerisms just flow. And yeah how he was able to talk about a topic in a way we can all relate to without mentioning once exactly what it was, I thought was genius. And that ending! Did not see that coming but super hilarious and the 100% truth of what the nation needs! 😆
