Though Jerry is one of my favourite musicians, I cant listen to his solo records anymore, they put me in such a negative mindset. I guess it brings my mind back to times of depression and anxiety... I still love these albums though
@MLCrow6 жыл бұрын
Peter Saints Well, ok, I can understand you. As for me his music helped me alot, I don't have your feelings if I listen to his albums at all. Honestly I find AIC music (Layne era) way darker...the self titled album is pure hell (but paradoxically I mean it in a good way)...anyway...I have to admit Cantrell's music (and also AIC music ofc) is very visceral, sad (mostly), ...but it's also so beautiful, soulful, honest and real.
@puppetmaster85514 жыл бұрын
Pedro Santos I don’t think boggy depot is dark but deg trip is dark as fuck, definitely could see that record taking someone to a bad place, Jerry was at a rough place when he did that record so he doesn’t like to revisit it either. Amazing album tho

I feel like AIC was big enough that a lot of people were like "oh, that's Jerry from AIC" instead of being "oh, that's Jerry the fucking rock star" so the album wasn't as popular. Hard to shake off a band that big and be successful solo. Great album for sure though.

Jerry Cantrell man, there will never be another like him. Ive never seen such a persistent rocker who's been through as much as he has and seen as much as he as, and I've also never seen one to have the raw talent and ability that is his songwriting skills and musicality.. Truly one of the best if not the best out there in my opinion, you can't get any more real than him I mean look at what he's wearing.. I wish he was more popular and people would start noticing the talent he has, but at the same time I like having him as a secluded artist because its the people like you that are reading this that are watching this hour something long shitty quality video that can really appreciate Jerry and his music.. didn't mean to go that far haha.. Giuseppe Meneguzzi I'm a big Jerry Cantrell's (and AIC) fan but my opinion is that Jerry has, yeah, a good voice but not strong enough for some AIC songs. Can you imagine him sing Love,Hate, Love for example? Honestly I can't, no way. This is a fucking hard song to sing. One of the basic characteristics (a trademark if you want) of AIC music are the double harmonized vocals (two singers needed). DuVall has a stonger voice (like it or not) than Jerry. Go listen to DuVall's previous band Comes With the Fall. DuVall is a great vocalist but he is not charismatic and doesn't have such a great stage presence (imo). I think he's very professional, down to earth and non problematic as a person (he was also performing with Jerry during Jerry's solo tours)...that's why Jerry invited him in AIC imo. DuVall was a "safe pick".

I was Fu Manchus sound guy during this time as well. I have always wondered what happened with your band. Now I know. Hope you and the rest of the band are healthy and doing good. I have been working for Live Nation for the past 13 years in Phoenix and I miss the road but you get older and having a family I decided to be home for my family. Man what a tour this was. Anyway hope you come back and see this post and would love to catch up.

Lastly totally agree Sean Kinney is underrated as fuck, one of the most underrated drums out there, may not be the most technical guy around but he wrote very tasteful perfect drums for the music without ever trying to do to much or over play things and he’s always been a phenomenal performer.
