So glad to have been alive and listening during emergence and rise of these fine musicians, and lucky to have survived-still listening-throughout delightful growth of their careers.

I watched this episode the night it aired. Had never heard of Alison Brown before, but bought her first album within a week of seeing this based on that one solo.

Mark O'Connor is one of the finest fiddle players alive . . . and he's killing the guitar! He's an incredibly gifted musician as are the rest, but he's a master om and stringed instrument you hand him. He played with my band at age 14 or so, and blew me away playing "Buck's Run" on my mandolin. I knew he was special.
@jamesryan54364 жыл бұрын
Mark is a ferocious guitar player . I don't think his talent will ever be seen again the Nashville cats blew me away when I heard it the talent on that album was something else .

Another great version of this tune is the opening tune in the Bluegrass documentary Bluegrass Journey that features Jerry, Chris Thile and Byron House playing this @ the Greyfox Bluegrass festival in 2000. I was there and got chills, and not just because of the rain pouring down during the set!

It is good to be caught by surprise when something transcends the day to day, opens a window in your existence, and the wind of God tears the curtains off and slams you in the face with joy for the pure thrill of joy. These are some of the best players in the world. If you're not choking down emotions you don't understand by the middle of this, then you're not alive...

Closer. To. God. Everytime. Jerry D is doing more than playing Dobro. What a crew though. Stuart Duncan, all these cats are amazing.

I don't know anything about the mandolin but I can't believe how accurate Sam is on that thing. Maybe that's why Bill Monroe told him, when he first saw him play, that he better stick to the guitar. Lucky for us he didn't.
