I’m 25 and was born in 98 and have been to god knows how many shows not just dead shows and I swear i miss Jerry more and more everyday there was just something about his sweet touch and sounds that can’t be replicated even in the later stages of his life he just had that special something that can’t be described anything else but pure soul I can only imagine how you true Jerry heads feel with how the years have changed but please know even all these years later Jerry still touches our hearts everyday

I'm glad I can be of service by providing the recording. I was wearing my hat with my Nak 700 omnis still and proudly in like the 10th row center. It was sounding great in the Richmond Coliseum that night. This was the last show for me on this JGB tour and was really a swan-song for Jerry and me that night as this was the last night I saw anything good from Jerry. The Eyes of the Maker is haunting.

Great and amazing evening until after show with like 30 people crammed in elevator hotel broke down we were trapped for hours but got out survived off to Hampton next morning, man that explosion of energy I miss so very much. I remember the cops that night were so on edge and almost felt about to explode till those first few notes from Jerry & it was like this instant transformation shizuoka I remember some of them even starting to dance a lil, miss entire community. Hope everyone is staying up & trying to make the best out of what we still got, Cheers....

I just saw your comment buried in my gmail account (which I rarely use). I'll be a dead head to my last breath on this Earth. Being in the presence of Jerry and the Grateful Dead was among the great experiences of my life. Miss Garcia and the Dead very much, the joy and peace I found at the shows was profound, and totally unique. Not to be found like that again, not for me anyway. Peace to you and your loved ones...

Wonderfully put, brother. I feel the same way! This was the only hometown show I ever saw, as TGD was banned from Richmond when I was 11. I still remember how odd it felt to see a show, at a venue 10 minutes from my house, and be in my house a couple hours later...lol Best times ever in my life, and nothing else has come close to bring me such pure joy and happiness. Spiritually and physically. I'm not expecting anything to every top seeing Jerry for the rest of my days, either.

I use to think Jerry was hard rock but his grandmother use to listen to the grand ole opera & he sang a lot of old timey songs that my mama & daddy use to sing & i played an autoharp with them @ a young age about 3 to 5. My daddy gave me his , & i bought a german one & was supposed to leave me s mandolin; but my half sister said she knew it was mine ; but she was keeping it. I am getting it back. She is evil - u all pray 4 me as I am seeing my attorney soon. GOD is with me always & We have the best fun - just me & GOD. Amen. I wish me, my mama & daddy had went to woodstock. They were great, they would have went with me.

Checkout john kahn playing airbass, john was so baked he did not even realize it until the encore was over. But if you wanted to see garcia happy to be on stage in the "90"s it was checking out his band because he just was not having fun with the grateful dead even a little bit. What a drag those "90"s dead show"s were.

If Jerry Garcia had lived to be a hundred years old, he would have have still been creating new takes on songs, still be finding more music in songs than the composer ever dreamed of... still playing riffs never imagined before...When he passed he still had lots of creative juice in the warehouse of his soul... wouldn't it be cool to see a 70 year old Jerry still amazing us...

In a way, he did play into his 70s. If you look at him in these last few years, he might as well have been in his 70s. He just got there 20 years too soon. But that's the price paid for the life lived. And the good news is that he left so much behind, like this video, that he IS still amazing us.

Exceptional video, I was fortunate enough to see both JGB and the Dead more times then I can count. I often think how would Jerry respond to the new wave of Jam Bands today. I'd be willing to bet he would have allot of fun, but I really think his heart was in Blue grass and Motown sound.
