I loved the movie as well, and after having listened to a couple of episodes of the radio series, I'd love to see a reboot. I think the problem with The Shadow is, AFAIK, there are no comic books or other forms of media currently produced for it. When the movie was released, I don't recall seeing any comic books out for it at the time. Not many people had heard of The Shadow except the elderly at the time (60+), who grew up listening to the radio series, and younger generations who would have heard about it from that generation. The Internet was still a brand new thing, so there wouldn't have been any way to listen to the old shows. If you were lucky, your local library might have had some episodes on cassette tape or CD, or you might could find a recording or two in some catalog or music store. If you were lucky. Nowadays with the Internet being more widespread, and there being more content available, I think it could get more exposure. I know there are websites out there with old episodes of those old radio series uploaded somewhere; all it would take is a quick Google search. I wouldn't be surprised seeing some here on KZbin. A couple of weeks or so ago, a coworker who grew up listening to the series quoted the famous opening lines. I don't know how it came to that, but it did. He said, "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of man?" and I instantly responded, "Only The Shadow knows!" then did the maniacal laugh. He told me I was too young to know that. I told him I used to have XM a while back, and had listened to a couple of episodes on the Old-Time Radio Classics channel.

Amazing costume, simple yet very impressive. Btw. it strongly resembles that of Aristide Bruant, a French cabaret singer, comedian, and nightclub owner, who can be seen on Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's posters. I wonder if there was any inspiration.

This whole movie hits so many notes: Classy, beautiful, suave, funny, menacing, fun, sexy, silly, dark. Everything Shiwan Khan is, actually. Outstanding soundtrack, gorgeous colour processing, fantastic costume design (Margot Lane's silk cocktail gown has to be one of the greatest dresses in cinema history). Delightful blend of Eastern martial arts mysticism and lore and the exciting, bustling grunge of New York's roaring 40s. All the support cast smash their individual roles, giving memorable performances even with one line. Every now and then I have another hankering to watch The Shadow again, and every time I'm reminded again just how good it is. The Shadow may have disappeared into the unseen corners of movie history, but it's always lurked in a specual place in my heart. 😊🎩💣
