The master of American music. Ragtime, stride, boogie Woogie. Country n western, rhythm n blues, rock n roll. He kind of a jazz cat the whole way too since he always improvised and never played the same song the same way twice. A guy could be good at one or two but never again all of ‘em like the Ol Killer.

Couldn’t read music, no piano lessons, abused and rejected by the Nashville music establishment, disdained by elite highbrow critics, maligned for his messy marriages, ignored as a has-been Rock n Roller….. The greatest of them all never lost faith in his God given talent. Near inhuman strength and courage…. no entertainer in American history (probably world history) has done what this man has done. The greatest of them all….. and he knew it.
