I met Jerry Lynn at an indies show years ago. He was such a respectful, & kind man. I asked him if he would end his upcoming match for me using a version of the Kryptonite Krunch, which is an awesome over the shoulder back-to-belly piledriver, & one of my favorite Finisher moves! He not only finished the match by using that as his finisher for me at my request, but even pointed to me in the crowd before doing as a way to say "hey this is for you".. I love him so much! He knew where I was sitting, cause he asked me before heading in back to get ready, and I told him my location and row.. so he found me. Just an awesome memory! American Dream Dusty Rhodes was also at that event, as well as AJ Styles, and even Hacksaw Jim Duggan. It was fun!

I've never understood why wrestlers take a bump and then flip onto their back to position themselves. (shuffling into position is even worse!) To make it more believable they've really been hit, it makes sense that they just land in a heap and their opponent position them for the next move or the pin
@kam215013 күн бұрын
you land on your back as its the safest way to take a bump. Due to how ring works, your body needs to hit the mat at the same time (so not ass first, then back hits half a second later) to distribute the impact.
@DamienThaAlien13 күн бұрын
@@kam2150I think you misunderstood what I meant, I know wrestler's can't land awkwardly as I alluded to in the second part of my comment, but what I mean is wrestlers positioning themselves onto their back after they bump, not on the bump itself. Perfect examples being RKO's or Pedigrees. They are front facing bumps but then the wrestler will flip onto their back afterwards.

I remember back in like 2006, Jerry Lynn was doing an angle in TNA basically being a voice of reason for X-Division guys, mainly Chris Sabin, because he, Jay Lethal, and Sonjay Dutt were really into Jackass 2 (they were doing a promotioal tie in), and doing a bunch of silly pranks instead of just wrestling. He was the veteran telling the kids to take wrestling serious, and the kids were like "you don't get it old man," and kept on with their antics. If I recall correctly, it led to Sabin getting a title shot and then losing to Senshi. Eventually he got serious and won it and somewhere in all that, I believe he wrestled Lynn proper to really get the point home. It's really funny because the frustration Lynn conveyed on screen during that time probably just became reality in aew. I've only ever gotten that impression that veterans working in aew are seen as the parents from Dirty Dancing

They have one of the most successful tag team wrestlers in the business (Billy Gunn). The have one of the best technical wrestlers out there (Dean Malenko). I love that he said this. I’ve been saying this for a couple years now. It’s annoying to see wrestlers looking into the crowd with their hands up asking for praise. THEY PAID THEIR TICKET, IF THEY WANTED TO CHEER THEY WOULDVE! Do better with your work and you’ll get the reaction, but doing a move and then immediately asking for praise and validation looks dumb

8:27 what Jerry mentions here is basically like what we see in boxing at times such as Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones Jr

If there is one thing positive I can say about aew, it gives jerry lynn a solid steady paycheck.

That's why AEW will ultimately fail and is failing because these guys think they know better.. this is why the booking is atrocious and nothing actually means anything in the end. They kill themselves to do as many flashy things as possible when they could make one or two moves mean more than doing a 100 in a row. Psychology and storytelling is what makes great TV, what you do between the moves is what makes a wrestling match great.

Jerry was already great but he's GOATed for referencing Stuart from MadTV

JL house matches w/Sabu in ECW are still best wrestling I ever saw. Too bad they didn't tape the stuff.

Around the waterfall, everybody taking their turns. Yes humbly, that a way to put of what humbly to me is maybe my biggest groan of modern wrestling say. The thing to is you can see it a mile away as you will have one guy run into the ring at the time or like just two guys in the ring and the two other guys outside the ring. So when Wrestler A hits the big move on Wrestler B and like Lynn says Wrestler A,instead of going for a pin stops to get the crowd applause you know see what about to come and the chain of getting their turn starts. Wrestler C quick slides in ring spins Wrestler A around to get his turn & hits his move on Wrestler A. Wrestler C stops/turns around so Wrestler D can get his turn hitting Wresler C. Heck maybe for extra then Wrestler B is back up/recovered to hits/or nails Wrestler D out of the blue so that Wrestler B can still get his turn in.

New wrestlers not having in ring storytelling by adding emotion are actually in danger of getting injured. They are pushed to do dumb things for a small pop. Bronson Reed a fine example of pressure to please the crowd with moves. He is a Super heavyweight who decided to jump from the top of the cage. What fans don't understand is that these wrestlers don't get any younger and their bodies go through hell. Which is why in ring storytelling can benefit them more to give them less to do in the ring.

FTR and Mox are about the only guys id wanna watch now in AEW. Recently went back and tried to start watching again and lasted 10 minutes of high spots and no sells and gave up.

Moxley? He never sells lmao even in the ring. He sells when he loses amateur jiu jitsu matches tho

RVD vs Jerry was the best series of matches in wrestling. I hope there’s so questions about that 😊

Personally I like watching former MMA fighters like red dragon and Matt riddle work in the ring more than that flippy stuff

Most want to and do suspend their disbelief. Some, however, will stay on guard, looking for anything they can complain about.

I think the thing that gets lost in the conversation of veteran advice is that a lot of the young kids gravitate to the wrestlers that influenced them. Private Party, for better or worse, were glued to the Hardys, when the Hardys were in AEW. They didn't grow up with Arn and Tully and for better or worse won't go to them for advice.

Coincidentally a lot of the guys/girls that Lynn said actually asked for advice are already or will be WWE bound, became a fan favorite in AEW, or was Punk approved.

The small things make the match. That's why Misawa Kobashi is my favourite. They never watch the ref counting the pin. The effort on the pins reflect the stage in the match. Pacing is perfect.

Those matches are perfect. The nuances as you mentioned. They always look like legit fights.
