Not to mention how a lot of these tv shows used to come on, on a Saturday morning when kids would be awake looking for something to watch kinda feels like they were praying on the concept of a childs morbid curiosity

Yep, he appealed to our lowest basest impulses.....and we rewarded him for it.

I watched the documentary and what I found to be most sad was when one of the producers said that people would write the show because they had a problem and they genuinely thought they would get to talk it out and resolve it. People wrote the show because they wanted to get help for their problem.

Jerry Springer is where I saw my first gay person, who, as you might imagine, was put in stage against an anti-gay person. And I internalized the anti-gay messages they said. It even prompted me to ask my dad, "dad, what's a gay person?" And his response was, "they're bad people." I think that one discussion was an encapsulation of why we became estranged. I could forgive him because he could never admit he'd done anything wrong.

There really aren't enough conversations about the massive role Jerry Springer played in popularizing the very dehumanized view of trans women, specifically

I am so happy you're on your way to recovery Eric! It so nice to know you're on the mend. I wasn't paying much attention to the content (maybe just surface level) because I am just reassured knowing you're okay and are making content and being productive n trying to be positive as you recover. Love your perspectives and your just being and talking my phone.

Jerry was like extracting the contents of a National Enquirer magazine, and forcing its contents to fight to the death.
