This songs a lot deeper than you think. It’s about a man, named jerry, who was once a race car driver. He never came in first, nor last.

I love how, in all Primus performances, Ler lays down some of the most in-your-face popular metal riffage ever written but he plays it in place like he’s just accompanying a high school pep band or something. He bobs along or whatever but it always strikes me as a 16 yo who is a phenom but not quite confident with performing live yet. Obviously that’s not the case at all, but that’s how I see it. We had a student who played in a punk band but when he had to be reserved and play bass for the school pep band, this is exactly how he looked.

Haha I’ve always wondered that too. My theory is first they’re extremely talented with a unique sound, but even though that sound is unique it had elements of stuff that was popular when they were getting big.

@@alexpickle2413 They were popular long before SP came into existence. This song and Tommy the Cat are what made them popular and they had a lot of airplay on Mtv back in the early to mid 90's. If it had anything to do with a cartoon it would've been Beavis and Butthead.
