Jerry and Linda, when I was about 13 years old, I lived in NJ, but spent two weeks in summer with my grandparents, who lived in Tamarac, FL (near Fort Lauderdale). There was a canal that ran behind their back yard. One afternoon, I was sitting back there reading a book. The next-door neighbor came out her back door and warned me that there was an alligator in the canal, only a few feet away from where I sat! I looked where she was pointing, and just saw some gray thing sticking up out of the water. It was the top of his head! As I looked, he picked up his entire head out of the water, and I saw that very recognizable long snout! I thanked the neighbor, and she went back into her house. I continued reading for a few more minutes, but then I began to wonder if the gator thought I looked like a tasty lunch! I decided it would be safer to retreat into the house for the remainder of the day! I didn’t see Mr. Gator again during my visit, and I’m glad about that!

Dear Jerry and Linda, have been watching your show for several years and never intend to move to TV. I watch because I find it interesting and you are two of the nicest people I’ve never met. You are honest, kind, friendly, and sometimes funny. I’ve lived in Fl more than 50 years and chose to live in a less populated area, although Citrus County is Exploding. The negative effect the TV has on the area is on the water table. I don’t think there is anything anyone can do about it. We all have to have water. I don’t want you to consider my comment as salty it is just a fact.

You're absolutely right about taxes. We pay the amenity fees for the Villages, then the School tax, property tax and all other associated taxes any other resident of the three counties would pay as well. There's not one tax we are exempt from that the people outside of the Villages would also be paying... and because we're here, with the massive amount of services in food, entertainment, recreation etc. available through the Villages, we create jobs for those people. So if someone wants to be completely and utterly ignorant and write the kind of garbage that particular commenter wrote, I'd ignore them from now on and let them suffer their own misery unto themselves because nothing will change their minds. Jealousy is a hell of a thing and that's all they are. Jealous.

Many people outside of The Villages are irritated with us because prior to our ever expanding footprint they lived in quiet areas surrounded by farmland. They believe that each and every Villager moved here knowing they were contributing to the disruption of their previously tranquil area. Many Villagers when they hear about the ill will felt towards us say things like, "Look at the number of jobs The Villages has created", or, "Look at the amount of tax revenue that has been used to improve the roads, etc.". But the locals outside The Bubble see only the destruction of their previously peaceful area. And... some are jealous- thinking that all Villagers are rich and snobby, while they struggle to make ends meet.

It may be that some villagers behavior contribute to the negative attitude of people who were here first. I think that is a common situation everywhere when many newcomers move into an area. I cannot think that maybe being willing to integrate rather than dominate might improve relations

We encountered that when moved here. A sales associate at a local store made it a point to tell us how Sumter County residents fought to keep The Villages out and they didn’t want them here. I do understand why they are upset and can empathize with them. However, like so many other places rural Central Florida is changing and will not stay rural forever. I think another side to this is the younger generations do not want to continue farming the land left to them.

I bought my DIL, daughter, and myself neck fans for the summer months. Hopefully they are comfortable. We spend the winter in Naples and we often overhear native Floridans complaining about newcomers and snowbirds. Without that population Naples would still be a small backwater town without many amenities. I've seen many Florida small towns that have never flourished and I don't think many people would be happy with that situation. We also pay taxes yearly even though we are only here 5 to 6 months.

The green on the egg is a definite reaction to heat/length of cooking. It changes the taste. I think it is more delicious that way, and is not harmful. Perhaps you might want to try to taste a little bit. (You could always discretely spit it out.) You might find you like it.

If the tax department levies a certain amount for your property taxes then that is what you pay to receive the services you get. Believe me, if they need more, they will up your taxes to cover expenses. That is the way it works in Florida, and the same here on the Island in Canada. We have just had two consecutive years of property tax increases, that had remained low for many years in our area. That is how the world works. Now - about these alligators. The video of them scared me never mind seeing it in real life. Linda would just be an appetizer for an alligator, Jerry a full meal deal. 😅👋

Hi Jerry & Linda, the restaurant you mentioned in this video, the one that was "nickel & dining you", ugh!!!! To many add ons. I wouldn't like it if a restaurant told me I have to pay 3 bucks to share a plate of food with someone. That is bull dookie..lol The restaurant should be thankful for you coming to their restaurant. If that was me, they wouldn't see me again, and to serve Linda those nasty looking eggs...just another reason I wouldn't go back. Sorry, I just had to make a comment on that... You both have a wonderful beautiful day today. Up here on Cape Cod, the leaves on the trees are almost in full bloom. 🌞

"Take Two!"🎬 Was able to see the video yesterday till it was removed, but did hear the rest of the audio, so i will be curious to find out if i guessed the word jumble sight unseen.😏 We enjoyed watching the birds at the site of Gizmo's bench when you first announced it. If you have a reception for his bench installation, would it be possible to have another when all of us 'snowbirds' return? We sure loved that little guy.🥰😇🐕 Oh, many restaurants add a few $ to a "shared plate", because they will put an extra helping of the side dish that comes with the meal. Not sure it's the case in your particular diner. Hope you had a lovely Mother's Day, Linda. You sure deserve it.💐🌹

My husband and myself always share a meal because we simply just can’t eat two meals and why waste the money. So yes we believe that surcharge is ridiculous and we always tip generously anyhow we’re moving in TV this week. See you when we get there.
