+zach pierce Can I send my phone to you so that you fix it? I dropped the phone (Note 5 - T-mobile, N920T) and cracked the screen. This happened back in November. But the phone had been working perfectly fine until the day before yesterday, when I turned it on, I saw the main screen, but it wouldn't response when I tapped on the screen, and around the cracked areas, the screen turned blue. Then gradually, the next day, it turned black and spread all over the screen. Now, it is totally black, even though it is on (I know because of the sound when turning on and off). So my guess is the display screen is dead. My insurance refused to give me a replacement since I claimed the incident happened in Nov ( which is more than 90 days - that you should report damage). If you are interested, please email me: quocdatvt12@gmail.com. Thank you

its never a good idea to use a metal pry tool. it messes up the frames and glass. you can see where it scrapes the paint off the bottom in this video. i recommend using thin plastic guitar picks or pry tools.

I've already in one day of ownership had a situation where potentially I would be in big trouble because of a software hard lock requiring a battery pull. Uh oh only problem is I can't pull the battery. What a disaster design they went with on these phones. Glass backing to please the simpleton iphone fags, non-removeable battery, no sd-card. hi, just would like to say thanks for this video. i had no fast charge, usb disconnection pop up and very slow charging (5 hrs full charge).. i checked the cables, charger etc. cleaned the port still no go... than it was time for the hardest project for me... i used my air gun set at (130c) and i heated it for while dont rush guys.. if its not budging than dont force it use more heat than the glue just opens up.. always think and if its not sliding dont force it get the hot air give it more heat. For the front folded ribbons i only lifted bottom half and used tweezers to get the old ones slide out. also when removing the battery make sure you heat it well too because if you force it you could break the screen.. i used 2 old credit cards and it worked out excellent. now its working super again. thanks again.

Hey man thanks for the video, it was extremely clear and concise. I do have a couple questions that I was hoping you might be able to help me with. 1) I have a glitch on my Note 5 where the micro-usb port keeps mistakenly detecting a charger and/or VR headset, which turns my screen on constantly and sometimes even launches the Samsung Gear VR app. I heard this can happen as a result of using poor quality usb cables to charge the phone. Regardless, I was wondering if by disconnecting the micro-usb port or removing/replacing it completely the issue might be resolved? Then I could just charge it wirelessly and not have to worry about that seriously annoying glitch. 2) I also have a Note 4 (which I actually like better), but I broke the screen (it turns on but stays lit up black). I know however that everything else works with it. What are the chances I would be able to replace my Note 4 screen with the Note 5 screen? I'm assuming that this isn't possible if the screens are different between the models (I'm actually not sure if they are or not), but I was hoping you might be able to provide a definite answer. Obviously if I go with #1 I would continue to use the Note 5 whereas if #2 was a more plausible choice, I would use the Note 4 instead (but obviously with the Note 5's screen). Let me know if you have any advice, recommendations, solutions, opinions that would help. Any information at all would be a huge help, I'm sure. Thank you very much!!

hey man!! i bought the screen/glass from your links and put everything together as you show. when i try to see if it works before i put it all together (finishing the screws and gluing on back glass), i only get a blue LED light when i try to turn it on. A little vibration that it has turned on and then just the blue light. i dont get anything on the screen at all. the back button or the other button doesnt light up at all when i touch the home button. i took the board off and double checked all the ribbon cable connections. also, when i plug in the cord to charge it, i dont get anything. it doesnt vibrate or anything that its charging. your video was a HUGE help on taking it apart, thank you for that! also, i was able to get the glass off the LCD screen. i wasnt watching to make sure i didnt damage the old LCD b/c it was getting replaced but i feel i could have easily not hurt the LCD getting the glass off. Its only glued around the edge. a little heat and it started peeling off.

Thanks for posting this elaborate video, it looks quite intimidating though, and I think for $14 on Amazon, I will go with the wireless chargers. I dropped my Note 5, not a hard drop at all - no visible damage. The screen went black, although the phone apparently continues to work with vibrations, alarm sounds, on - off etc. Is it always the case that the screen/digitizer needs replacing, or is the problem sometimes a different component or fix? Question for JerryRigEverything, or anyone who may have some insight. Thanks

Zack! Awesome video. Very Helpful. One question. Is it possible to break the LCD without any damage to the Digitizer? Yesterday my Galaxy Note 5 started leaking this blue ink type stuff all over the inside of my screen and if I look closely I think i see a small crack but it's not in the glass. The glass looks completely fine. What do you think? Could it be a defect?
@JerryRigEverything8 жыл бұрын
+rivan bennevendo *sometimes* samsung will allow you to warranty your phone as long as there are no physical cracks in the top glass. And you are in warranty. But ya, it sounds like your LCD (Amoled) is broken.

Well-done vid. QUESTION... I did a charge board swap, thought I was very careful with it, and I have done phone repairs (both on this Note5 and other modern phones) before with success. This time everything worked, including the screen display, but touch doesn't register. I've double-checked that all connectors are firmly in place. Is there a trouble-spot I should check more closely, or something I have overlooked? Or is it pretty sure that I wrecked the touch function of my screen assembly somehow?

At 2:16, there are two wires. A White one and a Blue one. When trying to remove the Blue one, the actual socket that is soldered to the motherboard broke off. Am I totally screwed now? Are replacement parts for this available? Can you buy just the sockets somewhere and have a PC Repair shop solder it back on? I've been searching and have been coming up empty handed. I'm sooo frustrated.
@JerryRigEverything8 жыл бұрын
+Tyler Heer Dont stress too much. Put it back together. There is a good chance that it will still work just fine. Just try to put the socket back into place as best you can.
@ems4ty8 жыл бұрын
+JerryRigEverything That's the problem. It broke off of the circuit board. The reason I opened it in the 1st place was because the LCD is cracked and won't display anything. I was able to power it off, but when I tried to turn it back on, it doesn't do anything now. Without a working a display, I'm really in the dark. Just got back from Best Buy, they $900 + Tax for a new phone. I just ordered a used a one on eBay for $400 and will keep this one for spare parts unless I can get it fixed. My biggest problem right now is the socket for the blue wire broke off the mother board. I tried to solder it back on, big mistake. Now I don't even have a good socket to work with. I see the contact points on the motherboard are still there. Bummer. FWIW, I've taken apart about 7 phones already and have never broken anything additional. That's why I wasn't afraid to crack this one open. 1st time for everything I guess.
@JerryRigEverything8 жыл бұрын
Tyler Heer Those round wires arent that important. The phone should still turn on without them even in place. So something else is amiss besides that if the phone screen is still black.

+aigalaxy ikr, i cant afford to upgrade my smartphone once in a while, but at the same time, when i will buy my next smartphone it will probably be a flagship [spec wise and price wise], so at the end i need to have easy access for the internals since i will probably keep it a long time, at least battery should be easy replaceable

Thank you for your comment? I do not know how to determine (before buying) what models are easy to work on. Do you have any suggestions, please? Thanks again, Candace

They skipped the Note 6, but the Note 7 was one of the most EXPLOSIVE phones on the market.
