+zach pierce Can I send my phone to you so that you fix it? I dropped the phone (Note 5 - T-mobile, N920T) and cracked the screen. This happened back in November. But the phone had been working perfectly fine until the day before yesterday, when I turned it on, I saw the main screen, but it wouldn't response when I tapped on the screen, and around the cracked areas, the screen turned blue. Then gradually, the next day, it turned black and spread all over the screen. Now, it is totally black, even though it is on (I know because of the sound when turning on and off). So my guess is the display screen is dead. My insurance refused to give me a replacement since I claimed the incident happened in Nov ( which is more than 90 days - that you should report damage). its never a good idea to use a metal pry tool. it messes up the frames and glass. you can see where it scrapes the paint off the bottom in this video. i recommend using thin plastic guitar picks or pry tools.

Hey man thanks for the video, it was extremely clear and concise. I do have a couple questions that I was hoping you might be able to help me with. 1) I have a glitch on my Note 5 where the micro-usb port keeps mistakenly detecting a charger and/or VR headset, which turns my screen on constantly and sometimes even launches the Samsung Gear VR app. I heard this can happen as a result of using poor quality usb cables to charge the phone. Regardless, I was wondering if by disconnecting the micro-usb port or removing/replacing it completely the issue might be resolved? Then I could just charge it wirelessly and not have to worry about that seriously annoying glitch. 2) I also have a Note 4 (which I actually like better), but I broke the screen (it turns on but stays lit up black). I know however that everything else works with it. What are the chances I would be able to replace my Note 4 screen with the Note 5 screen? I'm assuming that this isn't possible if the screens are different between the models (I'm actually not sure if they are or not), but I was hoping you might be able to provide a definite answer. Obviously if I go with #1 I would continue to use the Note 5 whereas if #2 was a more plausible choice, I would use the Note 4 instead (but obviously with the Note 5's screen). Let me know if you have any advice, recommendations, solutions, opinions that would help. Any information at all would be a huge help, I'm sure. Thank you very much!!

Hi Thanks for share this nice video. Well done to take out the lcd without cracking it. It requires skills. To answer your question, yes it is possible to change the glass only. But do not try it yourself. It is really difficult. The lcd is extremely thin.

The screen went black, although the phone apparently continues to work with vibrations, alarm sounds, on - off etc. Is it always the case that the screen/digitizer needs replacing, or is the problem sometimes a different component or fix? This just happened to my Sister's note 5. She dropped it a very small distance ( and it had a case). It landed on its back, no visible damage to glass at all. However screen won't turn on, just stays black. All the local repair shops I've called want the same price for repair, $230. Told her I'd help her pick out a nice unlocked phone on amazon instead.

hey man!! i bought the screen/glass from your links and put everything together as you show. when i try to see if it works before i put it all together (finishing the screws and gluing on back glass), i only get a blue LED light when i try to turn it on. A little vibration that it has turned on and then just the blue light. i dont get anything on the screen at all. the back button or the other button doesnt light up at all when i touch the home button. i took the board off and double checked all the ribbon cable connections. also, when i plug in the cord to charge it, i dont get anything. it doesnt vibrate or anything that its charging. your video was a HUGE help on taking it apart, thank you for that! also, i was able to get the glass off the LCD screen. i wasnt watching to make sure i didnt damage the old LCD b/c it was getting replaced but i feel i could have easily not hurt the LCD getting the glass off. Its only glued around the edge. a little heat and it started peeling off

+Jun Whang I just switched to the Note 5 from a Note 2. I've already in one day of ownership had a situation where potentially I would be in big trouble because of a software hard lock requiring a battery pull. Uh oh only problem is I can't pull the battery. What a disaster design they went with on these phones. Glass backing to please the simpleton iphone fags, non-removeable battery, no sd-card. Why god why.

Yesterday my Galaxy Note 5 started leaking this blue ink type stuff all over the inside of my screen and if I look closely I think i see a small crack but it's not in the glass. +rivan bennevendo *sometimes* samsung will allow you to warranty your phone as long as there are no physical cracks in the top glass. And you are in warranty. But ya, it sounds like your LCD (Amoled) is broken.

But all what happens is the permanent blue light with slow pulsing, like I knew it from standby mode of my old Ibook. With full loaded batterie the blue light is on now for more than 4 days. Get a big plastic baggie and pry with it inside after you suction lift because chances are very high you break the glass and get micro shards everywhere. It is like super glued down. I had a 650 deg heat gun too...

Even though this is like 3 years old, instead of using a the heat gun and all that i took a razor blade and slipped it under the glass and cut away the tape holding the glass to the back and used cards to keep it from sticking back. It took me 5 minutes to do this on my s6 edge

Something to add to this video, DONT FORGET to remove the sim card and tray from this device before removing screen. I did this and it bent the sim tray so bad that I had to replace it. I broke the lcd on my note 5, had it replaced the other day. I noticed that the new lcd is kinda screwed up when the screen displays gradient gray to black. it kinda gets pixelated. the repair guy said it might be because the replacement lcd is not programmed to the phone.. is there a software to calibrate the lcd into the phone's existing hardware? kinda like aligning the original parts/motherboard to the lcd? coz it seems like a screen that has uncalibrated gamma...

Tried to replace the battery... I know old video but I wish I watched this one instead of others which goes like "heat aaand here it opens" kind of videos.. considering I'm somewhat handy myself but I did crack the back cover trying to open. (cuz other videos dont heat as much or mention also use metal bar / plastic picks to open instead of cards).. And later on while removing the battery I cracked the screen made it unusable. final thoughts.. never buy samsung... this kind of "glue everything together so noone will open or brick trying" mindset was the reason I switch from iphone. And believe me changing iPhone battery was soooo much easier. To whoever cameup with the idea of "glue the backcover which is a thin glass", major d**k move if you ask me.

Why can't we remove the front screen and replace it using some sort of epoxy glue? Is it impossible to do without a machine? I've been considering fixing phones as like a side hustle and then upgrade it to possibly a side business if it takes off. Hi, I just replaced the screen and port on the Note 5. The menu and back buttons with the initial port replacement won't work. As there are several parts with issues out there, I always get a spare. Same issue, also issues with the stylus working with the phone following the repair. Always appreciate your videos!!

My initial problems with note 5 is the disconnect from charging and the service center had changed the charging port and motherboard because the problem persist after they have changed the charging port. After one month of usage, my phone was lagging while i was charging then i force restart the phone before the phone went complete black out. Can you put a motherboard of a T-Mobile Note 5 on a Sprint phone also Note 5 because I found one on eBay at Sprint that has a bad ESN and my note 5 from T-Mobile is all beat up couldn't I just install the motherboard of My T-Mobile Note 5 on a Sprint version of it?

Taking out the back glass cover was probably the easiest part for me. The battery is nearly impossible to take off even with heating it, motherboard is very flimsy; blue wire will not go back in place and the pins to start the phone broke off like a twig just by barely poking it, so definitely DO NOT press them together.

would you happen to know what the little metal/plastic piece for the earphone speaker is called? when I step on my phone it dented that piece and I can't seem to find a replacement. it's the little piece that sticks through the glass at the top of the phone that you hear with your ear.

S-pen is working on my device screen but touch is not working with hand. Is it necessary to change whole display. If not please tell me the solution.
