i had approximately 5 years ago hit my finger on a ball and since then my joint is swollen and thicker then normal.. the swelling never did go away and the thickening.. but i can fully move my finger and do not have pain (i can also extend my finger more then normal like hyperextension because of the injury i had).. is this situation normal?

I broke my left ring finger (proximal phalanx) three months ago during a rugby match and my and I had pins inserted for my first surgery. After a few weeks, the pins were removed and the surgeon concluded that my finger was not facing the same direction as started and would require a second surgery. One month after the injury I had my tendon repaired and three screws placed. After two weeks I could remove my bandage/protective splint and begin physical therapy. Through about nine weeks of physical therapy and until now, I have improved movement and no pain but I still can't straighten my finger (extensor lag). After doing my own research, I believe that I have Jersey Finger and will require a third surgery (I believe Tenolysis) to remove the growth/ build up of adhesions/scar tissue from around the tendon in order to allow for proper movement. I think this issue is from the communication of how the injury took place in the first place, I think the surgeons were under the assumption that I fell onto my hand but as I recall the scenario during the rugby match, I believe I had just made a tackle and started running when I noticed the obvious bend/break in my finger. I am confident but not certain that this is the case and will find out during my next visit to see if Jersey Finger was ever given a consideration.

I had a sprain in the little finger of the hand, and the x-ray and ultrasound are intact, but the finger is currently curved and reddish in the middle joint, and I can only bend it at a small angle. If you have an avulsion fracture in your index finger and you do this test to see if the tip will move, is there a possibility that it will still move a decent amount (not as much as the noninjured finger) but still have "jersey finger" , or the ligament/tendon be torn

I have the same problem on my ring finger and couldn't fix It after two surgeries.

That's unfortunate. You should still be able to function fairly well though. No real long term pain issues with it either. Best of luck!

Unfortunately what seems to be the problem on my case was that my surgeon recommended me to wear the stiff thing on the finger (I think it's called splint, but it's the one made out of plaster) for four weeks when I was supposed to wear it for only one week or so. It made the scar tissue grow in excess and it made the tendon "pulley" stuck. On my second surgery, the doctor tried to "scrape off" the excess from the scar tissue with no success. I didn't have any problems really other than having to re-learn to play guitar with my non-dominant hand but it sucks that this problem could be avoided so easily. If you just had your first surgery I'd recommend you to seek a physiotherapist ASAP to see what's recommended on your case.

​@@thecashbandit2510 also, if you screwed the digital nerve and it feels numb or tingling 24/7, don't worry, it'll heal. I recovered pretty much >90% of the tact sensation spontaneously. My accident was a knife cut and It cut through the nerve and both tendons of my 4th/ringer finger.

If this happens to you and you need to see a doctor for it, you probably still wearing a mask at your house at this point. And shit, if homie is 37 in this video I can guarantee you I am a priest. That use to happen when we played ball or scrapped with each other, you don’t need no doctor for this shit lol I snap my shit back in and I’m back on the court, work or whatever I’m doing. Show something for ppl without insurance doc
