Two Birthday Traditions - and a Party at the Duggar House

For Spurgeon’s 6th birthday celebration, we took him to the restaurant of his choice and Ben let him order off the adult menu for the first time! Then we had a party at Grandma & Grandpa’s house to round out the evening!

Great choice, Spurgeon! My son and I always choose Outback, too! I think it costs us a bit more though because we go all out with an appetizer, good steaks, drinks, and dessert. We figure it's worth it twice as year. I LOVE their sweet potato and their broccoli is near as good as a dessert. lol

We do something similar Birthday person gets to pick where we go or what we have for dinner if they'd prefer home cooked. My youngest turns 15 today and picked garlic rosemary chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn, and my homemade chocolate black out cake

We had the same tradition in my family! The birthday person would get to choose the restaurant of their choice; however, my birthday is in January, and it would always be snowing, so Mom would let me choose the menu for supper. She would cook anything I wanted, no matter how weird!

We never had the money to go out every year to a restaurant. But we had what we wanted Mom to cook for breakfast and supper. With a homemade cake and ice cream and presents. Only kid parties at 5 and ten. Restaurant at 18 at the Top of the Hub with our first legal drink.
