This was my uncles favorite song. It reminded him of a ranch his dad had in the mountains of Oregon as a boy. I held his hand and played this song for him as he was on hospice and he just drifted away as soon as he heard it like it was the peace he was waiting for. Rest in peace Nick

My very first concert was Jesse Colin Young at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland in 1976. Emmylou Harris was the opening act. I got to see him again recently in a tiny little place with the band in this video. I was floored at how good he still was almost 40 years later. Just one of those voices like no other. Man it brought back some great memories. Hope to see Jesse again sometime. Just love his music and always have.

Me too! Although the first time I saw him was in a dive bar in Boston in 1974. I was a high school junior with a bad fake ID. Saw him several more times during the late 70's and then nothing until about 15 years ago in a tiny little High School auditorium in Wolfeboro NH. I was scared...thought it might be disappointing. Holy shit, he was just as good as he was back in 1974....less hair and more wrinkles but the voice was just as beautiful as ever.

Thank you for the daisy you gave me at Cuesta Jr College in 1975 while you were performing in the gym. Loved your music then, and still love your music now. Keep it up ... my friends and I love listening to you. De Ann

Gawd he's so damn smooth. Saw him many years ago. Brings a tear to my eyes how sweet he still sounds and plays. Ridgetop is one of those "What 25 songs would you bring with you..." The ultimate cool California 60's guy even though he was raised in Bucks County PA.

I have a confession to make. Back in the 70's we snuck up to Jesse's ridgetop and slept outside under the stars in sleeping bags. We weren't anywhere near his house, we never even saw his house. But that ridgetop was a magical place, so beautiful, I can see why he loved it so much. I just learned the ridgetop burned, so sorry to hear that. BTW, I was just a dumb high school kid at the time, we were harmless. I'm sorry.

Feyline Fields 1974 Jessie opened all day music for the likes of Bad Co. (first stop on their tour), Elvin Bishop, Boz Scaggs,Steve Miller, Edgar Winter, Bands in Phoenix,(Tempe Diablo Stadium) all for less than 15 dollars ...and brought everyone, all 30,000 to our knees at 12 noon.

(( Only a matter of time. He was more committed to his music than his fame. Not many artists like that. )) That's an understatement. In a totally separate but R&R related note: I learned recently (from KZbin! ) that the band Chicago is not in R&R hall of fame -- due to the 'inappropriate' way that founder Terry Kath died. I'm sure like most institutions & award-citations, decisions are sometimes political having nothing to do with artistic merit. I want to visit that Ridgetop in marin!
