My wife's name was Julie. She's been gone 30 years now. I listen to this song and it brings me a calm peace of mind dreaming of her. Sublime

My name is Julie. Back in the 70’s Mr. Young was my brothers favorite performer. He always played and sang Song For Julie for me. It’s amazing how much he actually resembled Mr. Young. He died in 1981 from a senseless drug induced suicide. I was only 20. Every year on that day I spend it listening to this song. This year out of the blue, someone sent me this version. It’s the best song ever. I like to think of it as my song too. I listen to most of the versions when I run every day in the woods. I live on a ridge top too and lord knows I like it just fine. I’m in the Pacific Northwest in a small town with 4000 acres of running trails. I have all of my favorite Jesse Collin young songs, the Young Bloods etc. Besides the beautiful man with the gift for song, the pianist and Woodwinds are amazing. When I was a teen in the 70’s I loved jazz. I played the violin but I really wanted to play the flute. When I watched your live concert today the amazing musician in the woodwinds took my breath away. I love your current music and interviews about helping our outstanding veterans. Thank you for playing what’s always been my song. I’m in love. Julie

What a gift, seeing the sliver shot of a young Julie. On an Summer afternoon about ‘74, she stood on stage next to her dad as they watched another band perform, as part of the venue - Jesse Colin Young, Elvin Bishop, CSNY & the Doobie Brothers. Stunned to see the resemblance of Julie to her mother, Susan. 🕉Jesse. of

My name is Julie. This is my favorite version of the song. It was my brothers song for me back in the 70’s. I just turned 60 and it’s still the most special song in the world to me.

Yeah. I actually met Jesse Colin Young in about 1975. I was walking down a street in the Georgetown area of D.C. I was not quite 18 yrs old. He was playing at damn the place just left me? Famous place in Georgetown? The Cellar Door! The ad playing on this device was distracting me. He invited me to the show that night. I went, and yes I heard him play and didn't have to pay. I was a guest! I proceeded to get drunk that night. But before that, when I first met him on the streets of Georgetown .. I will never tell. This is the truth!

I recently came back to this album after playing the heck out of it in the late 70s, early 80s. It’s really one of the most beautiful and satisfying albums I’ve ever heard. Thanks for sharing this video.

That must have been a great concert. I saw the Eagles backing up Jethro Tull in 75 in Calgary. I also saw Iron Butterfly in 69. Those were the days. Who'd have thought the world would have turned into this pile of upside down insanity by now. But underneath it all we still have the soul of music and the wonder of nature to remind us how things should be.

This is quite a rare (and terrific) find. I grew up with this record and spent numerous hours trying to figure out the beautiful piano solo and then the flute parts. The mystery for me, however, was always the guitar part, which I could never figure out. I knew the song was in Bb so always assumed Jesse capo'ed the first fret and played in A. Now I see what he actually did - he tuned his entire guitar one full step down and then played the chords in concert C instead of Bb. It was also great to see the Juli who this is named after, and I have a daughter Julie as well! Thanks so much for posting this gem.

Beautiful song by a favorite Bay Area group. What caught my eye is that everyone was wearing Sennheiser HD414 headphones, which I owned during the 1970s!
