I often saw Jesse when he lived in Montreal because he was seeing my friend Janet's older sister Claudia (who also my guitar teacher). 😊

Thanks so much for reviving these memories! Not so much about Jesse Winchester, though I do remember his music well, as well as how Claudia and Jesse were very what would be called very "handsy" now...ah, young love! It reminded me about my close friendship with Janet at that time when we were 11 or 12 years old (1968). Which continued throughout high school and beyond, although we have not been in touch for some years. Good memories though, so thank you.

This was a wonderful episode from a wonderful show. This song is so beautiful and touching. On the same show was a wonderful performance of his song Secret Heart by Ron Sexsmith. Very worthwhile.

not that I am a JW expert by any means and many of you probably know this, but one of the reasons he is not more well known ... and more famous as a songwriter than a performer.. is that he was a US Viet War 'draft dodger' who fled to Canada. And for a long time (until Jimmy Carter gave amnsesty in '77) he could only play in Canada, banned from US appearances. He did become kind of a cult fave later on... Jimmy Buffet loved him, and Jesse was a mainstay at many of the huge Jimmy Buffet 'Margaritaville' tours. There's a beautiful performance by one of the greatest New Orleans Pianist/Performers, Alan Toussiant, a wonderful tribute to Jesse after his death, Alan talks a bit about Jesse, and than gives a moving performance of Jesse's 'I Wave Bye Bye'... kzbin.info/www/bejne/pInZc3driZ6tl5Y On a final note... I realize few will read this but what the h.... asides from Jesse's soothing but soulful vocal performance in the 'Alba' vid, I mean his guitar play was magnificent, he makes it look so easy...........
